The Charles Becomes a Wizard

Chapter 60 The Dark Lord on the Tower

Everyone lived in peace for the rest of the time, and Diedrich and Sebastian didn't seem to take the previous incident to heart.

After a good night's sleep, Diedrich arranged for someone to send the two to Austria early the next morning, the place they speculated was most likely the legendary Nurmengard.

In fact, the German wizarding world is not as conservative and xenophobic as the British wizarding world, and there are relatively more exchanges with the Muggle government. However, Gellert Grindelwald has accumulated great power in the German wizarding world. Even with Diedrich's power, he cannot find any wizard who dares to lead the way.

So they could only speculate the exact location of Nurmengard based on the wizards' vague words.

The car finally stopped in a valley. There was no one living there. There was a large and dense forest around it. The branches of the trees blocked out the sun, and it seemed that not a single ray of sunlight could penetrate it.

Halfway up the mountain stood a dark, grim tower, which was obviously surrounded by a spell, so the people arranged by Diedrich did not notice the huge building at all.

Ciel asked the driver to wait there, then gathered his cloak and approached the tower with Sebastian.

The tower looks impressive from a distance, and it feels even more oppressive up close. The entrance is tall and large, with a line of small characters engraved on it - "For the greatest good."

Although it is a prison as famous as Azkaban, it is strange that Nurmengard does not seem to have any guards. Not only is there no guard, but even the door is not locked.

Charles pushed the door open and walked in easily.

The tower was empty, filled with an atmosphere of depression and desolation.

The first Dark Lord lived in a place like this?

Ciel couldn't help but frown. Wasn't it said that his subordinates were very loyal? Wasn't it said that most of his subordinates held important positions in the German wizarding world?

Is this how loyal they are?

Even if Dumbledore's international reputation is not a good idea to directly break him out of prison, there should be no problem in secretly improving the living conditions of his former "king", right?

It's impossible for Dumbledore to keep an eye on Nurmengard...

Charles was thinking this, not knowing that the saints were eager for their "king" to escape from prison immediately and lead them back to the top.

The two walked up and met an old man with white hair in a room that looked particularly, um, simple near the top of the tower.

There was only a hard wooden bed and a set of plain table and chairs in the room. An old man was sitting at the table flipping through a book. When he heard the voice, he raised his eyelids and looked over here.

When I saw Charles' overly childish face, I couldn't help but be stunned.

He had an upright posture, and his facial features still barely showed the handsomeness he had in his youth. If it weren't for his overly sharp eyes, he would look no different from an ordinary old man.

"Mr. Grindelwald, nice to meet you," Ciel curled his lips, "I am Ciel, Ciel Phantomhive."

Phantomhive?

This was a completely unfamiliar surname to Gellert Grindelwald, and it did not belong to any noble family he knew. However, the behavior of the child in front of him was clearly influenced by the aristocratic circle.

Maybe he's a hemp breed?

Why would a little Muggle wizard travel all the way to Nurmengard to find him?

Is it because he is too bold and does not know the consequences, or...is this a new method his old subordinates came up with to get him to leave Nurmengard?

Gellert Grindelwald rarely showed any interest.

He raised his eyebrows slightly and waited quietly for Charles to explain his purpose.

"If you don't mind, can I talk to you for a moment?" Charles smiled shyly, "Because I have some questions I hope you can answer for me."

"It's about Headmaster Dumbledore, you know, Albus Dumbledore."

When Gellert Grindelwald heard the name, his aura suddenly increased. That sharp aura at that moment was completely unlike that of the Dark Lord who had been imprisoned for many years.

"I haven't had any visitors for a long time. I'm afraid it's not convenient to receive a little wizard like you. Go back. I don't think we have anything to talk about."

Gellert Grindelwald looked at Ciel deeply and said this in a cold voice.

The fingers he placed at his side trembled unconsciously.

Albus, how long had it been since he heard his name?

He didn't expect to hear this name that was deeply engraved in his heart again after so many years, and it was actually spoken by Albus's students.

Gellert Grindelwald remembered the ambitious black-haired boy who came to "visit" him last time, and sighed secretly in his heart, suddenly feeling a little empty in his heart.

Albus, after all these years, you still haven't forgiven me, have you?

He simply ignored the two people standing outside the door, turned around and continued to flip through the book in his hand, but his eyes were empty, no word caught his eye, and his originally straight waist seemed to bend.

So, there must be some inside story!

Seeing the old man's reaction, Charles became more certain of his previous guess.

Judging from all the known signs, Gellert Grindelwald, the first generation Dark Lord who is notorious in the British wizarding world, does not seem to be imprisoned in Nurmengard and unable to escape.

Instead, it seems like...

Ciel touched his chin, and suddenly an idea came to his mind.

It seemed as if he himself didn't want to leave here!

The most important reason why he was imprisoned in Nurmengard was that he lost the duel with Dumbledore.

No, this isn't right.

According to Charles' understanding of Dumbledore, the old man was not a kind-hearted person, or rather, Dumbledore was very superstitious about his own "justice".

So why did Gellert Grindelwald, who lost the duel and seemed to be against his "justice", survive? Or, why did Dumbledore allow the old man in front of him to live in such a "ridiculous" imprisonment?

It stands to reason that Dumbledore couldn't have been unaware of how lax the guards at Nurmengard were.

Was it because of their friendship when they were young? Or was it to restrain the saints so that they could not cause chaos?

Question after question lingered in Charles' mind.

Leaving, of course it is impossible to leave directly.

At least, Charles was not going to leave until the questions in his mind were answered. However, he had to think carefully about how to get the corresponding answers without being rude.

After thinking for a while, Ciel asked the old man who was obviously planning to ignore him: "Do you know the Philosopher's Stone?"

"The Philosopher's Stone of Nicolas Flamel."

"The Philosopher's Stone is lost. There are rumors that Professor Dumbledore wants to seize the Philosopher's Stone, so..."

"impossible!"
