Became good friends with the Boy Who Lived
Chapter 69 Crookshanks
In late August, Ron sent a letter saying that his family had returned to London from Egypt and decided to stay in the Leaky Cauldron for a while. He invited Aeris, Harry and Hermione to go to Diagon Alley to buy school supplies for the third year.
On the appointed day, Aris, Harry and Hermione went to the Leaky Cauldron together. When they entered the bar, the Weasley family was already waiting in the bar lobby.
Percy walked over quickly and shook hands with Aris, Harry, and Hermione in a very formal manner. The badge of the student union president gleamed brightly on Percy's chest.
"Hello," Percy said, "Are you having a good summer?"
Fred pushed Percy aside with his shoulder, grabbed Aeris's hand and shook it enthusiastically: "Aeris, you don't know how much I miss you as a friend..." But the tone of his voice was like an opera.
George pushed Fred aside, held Harry's hand, and shook it while reciting a line: "Our savior, has your Muggle relatives ever troubled you? I seem to see a huge balloon, with a clown's face on it vividly, as if mocking fate mercilessly."
"That's enough, you two!" Ginny walked over, grabbed her two twin brothers' ears, one in each hand, and dragged them away while shouting, "It hurts, it hurts, little Ginny, you are becoming more and more disrespectful."
Mr. Weasley came over and shook hands warmly with Aris, Harry and Hermione, while Mrs. Weasley gave them each a warm hug.
After entering Diagon Alley, everyone dispersed. Ron, who was traveling with Aris and the others, kept looking at Harry with a strange expression. Harry asked unnaturally, "What's wrong, Ron, is there something dirty on my face?"
"It's okay!" Ron said somewhat embarrassedly, "I just heard that you turned your aunt into a big balloon, and more than a dozen Aurors were helpless. Finally, Minister Fudge had to ask Professor Dumbledore for help..." Ron's voice became smaller and smaller.
"She kept insulting my parents," Harry said. "I just couldn't help myself..."
Ron suppressed a laugh and said, "I have to say, you did a great job, buddy..."
"This is not something to be proud of," Hermione said seriously, "Harry may be expelled because of this..."
"Well, Miss Know-It-All," Aeris said, "we won't get fired for discussing this."
As they were talking, they came to the door of a pet shop. "Hermione, haven't you always wanted to have a pet?" Aris said, "Want to go in and take a look?"
Hermione readily agreed, and Ron muttered, "That's just right. Scabbers has been feeling listless these days. We can ask the clerk to check on Scabbers..."
"How many years has Banban lived in your house?" Aeris asked suddenly, "Thirteen years? Or fourteen years?"
Ron looked at Aris in confusion, shrugged and said, "It's been more than ten years anyway, why are you asking this?"
"I'm just curious," Aeris said, "what kind of mouse can live so long?"
"Scabbers just lives longer," Ron said unnaturally. "Well... my mouse is feeling a little unwell. Can you help me take a look?" Ron asked a clerk in the pet shop, and took Scabbers out of his shirt pocket and put it on a table.
A clerk observed Banban carefully for a while, then said hesitantly, "We...we are...a pet store...not a specialized pet hospital. But even if you send your mouse to a specialized pet hospital, they will still be powerless. Pets like house mice and voles usually don't live more than five years. The cost of treating such pets is enough to buy two similar pets. My suggestion is: why don't you buy another one..."
The clerk pointed in a direction. Ron looked over and noticed that someone was looking at him. The group of cute little mice in the cage were jumping around scrambling to be the first.
"What a bunch of showy little brats..." Ron muttered as he put Scabbers back into his coat pocket.
A ginger cat pounced towards Ron, or more precisely, towards Banban in Ron's pocket. Aris was quick to grab the cat and held it in his arms, stroking its fur and scratching its chin. The big yellow cat squinted its eyes in comfort and made a purring sound in its throat.
The cat has smooth fur all over its body, a long tail like a big brush, a slightly bowed hindquarters, and a flat face, as if it had been running at full speed and had no time to stop and had crashed into a wall.
Hermione came to Aris with sparkling eyes and gently stroked the big yellow cat. Ron took two steps back in fear. Harry said curiously, "This... looks like a little tiger."
Aeris handed the big cat to Hermione and said to the clerk: "Does this cat have a name? We bought it. Oh...by the way, we also need some cat food."
"Thank goodness," said the clerk, "Crookshanks has been here for quite some time now. You won't regret it, young sir. Crookshanks is definitely the most intelligent pet we have in the store."
"What?" Ron said in horror, "No... I don't agree... You can't... You bring that monster into the dormitory. It will eat Scabbers sooner or later. Don't you already have Eric? Why do you still want to keep a cat?"
As he paid, Aris said, "I won't bring him into our dormitory. He will go to Hermione's dormitory. Crookshanks is my gift to Hermione."
Hermione blushed and rubbed her cheek affectionately against Crookshanks' chubby face. Crookshanks resisted by pressing his two little paws against Hermione's face.
"That won't do either," Ron said in protest. "My Scabbers needs to be...emotionally stable right now. How can he be emotionally stable with a monster like this around?"
Aeris smiled, took out his wand, and said, "That's easy. I'll turn Scabbers into a necklace or a mouse-shaped pendant, so he won't be anxious."
Ron quickly took several steps back, covered the spot where Banban was, and said in horror: "You...you don't do anything rash...Eris...you...you don't come over here..."
Hermione quickly stopped Aris and said, "Stop it, Aris. And you, Ron, we can't be so cautious about what kind of pet to get just because of your Scabbers!"
Ron's ears turned red and he was mumbling something to himself.
After dealing with Crookshanks' matter, Hermione carried a large cage in which Crookshanks was curled up lazily and snoring, and everyone came to Flourish and Blotts.
Outside the door of Flourish and Blotts stood a huge cage, and inside the cage were books... er... moving, book-like things. This was the book mentioned in the third year book list: "The Monster Book of Monsters"
A bookstore clerk was outside the cage, hitting it impatiently with a stick, and yelling as he did so: "You are books, please stop biting each other, okay?"
Seeing customers coming, the clerk politely asked what they needed. After learning that they needed two copies of "The Monster Book of Monsters" (Hagrid gave Harry one, and Ron's copy had already been bought), the clerk asked the customers to stand further away, and with great effort he took the two books out of the cage, packed them up, and handed them to Aeris and Hermione.
Aeris observed the unique book in his hand. It was still trying to break free from the binding. Aeris stroked the spine a few times and the book finally quieted down. At this time, another ten people came over.
These ten or so people were almost all classmates of the same grade. After greeting Aris and Harry, each of them asked the clerk to buy a copy of "The Monster Book of Monsters", which scared the clerk so much that he collapsed on the ground and almost cried.
Ron held back his laughter. As everyone walked away, Ron said, "Why would we buy a book that looks like an animal?"
"We're going to start Care of Magical Creatures next school year," said Hermione cheerfully. "Apparently, this is the textbook we're going to use for Care of Magical Creatures."
"What kind of professor would let us buy a book like this?" Harry asked puzzled.
"Who do we know who likes ferocious magical creatures?" Aeris said with a smile, "You can guess this with your toes, right?"
"You mean..." Ron said incredulously.
"Our Care of Magical Creatures professor is... Hagrid?" Harry asked in surprise.
Aries said, "It's not 100% certain, but it's possible. I heard from senior students that the professor of Care of Magical Creatures is very, very old. He is so old that his energy is not enough to support him to complete the teaching of a course. There are rumors that he has applied for retirement from Professor Dumbledore in recent years."
As they were talking, they passed by Ollivander's Wand Shop. Ron excitedly took out his new wand and said proudly, "Mom bought me a new wand. It's made of willow wood, fourteen inches long, and the core is made of unicorn hair. I have to say, my wand is much easier to use than Charlie's..."
After buying their school supplies, everyone gathered in the lobby of the bar. Harry decided to stay in the Leaky Cauldron for a few days, so he booked a room in the Leaky Cauldron and put all his school supplies in the room. Then he went back with Aris and Hermione to get his luggage.
Aries helped Harry carry his luggage to the Leaky Cauldron, and at the warm invitation of Mrs. Weasley, he enjoyed a sumptuous dinner with the Weasleys.
The day after Harry left the Greene family, after a day of crazy play with Ariana, Sirius left without saying goodbye. The little girl was unhappy for several days and kept mumbling, saying: This big black dog... is ungrateful...
