Naruto: We are invincible

Chapter 194 Tragic Past

After hearing the headmistress's roar, little Naruto immediately stopped, nodded obediently, and quickly left the corridor.

"I really want to know why Lord Hokage wants to keep this brat alive?" The headmistress sighed and shook her head. Danzo narrowed his eyes and looked at Naruto's receding back thoughtfully.

"You don't want to take him away, do you?" the dean asked tentatively, with a hint of expectation in her tone.

Danzo remained silent as he weighed the pros and cons in his mind.

He could indeed take the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki and train him into the most perfect weapon in the village, but he would be too conspicuous.

"He will never be able to let go of the hatred in his heart and become a qualified tool." Danzo thought for a while and finally made a decision, "I can't take him away. Hiruzen is too good to him, he won't betray Konoha easily."

"What a pity." The headmistress said as she opened the door.

There were four other children in the room.

"Five in total?" Danzo asked.

The headmistress nodded, walked over to the table in the middle of the room, opened the drawer, pulled out a few documents, and handed them to Danzo.

"Five is the limit. If there are more, the other nurses will find out." The headmistress replied.

Danzo nodded, took out an envelope from his pocket and handed it to her. The headmistress took the envelope and opened it eagerly, and found a stack of banknotes inside.

"Deal?" Danzo asked.

The dean nodded without even thinking about it.

"Okay, children, this kind-hearted man has decided to adopt you. You must respect him and obey him, do you understand?" the headmistress said loudly to the children.

The children nodded in agreement.

Afterwards, they followed Danzo and left the orphanage.

Naruto clenched his fists in anger, he didn't expect that the director of the orphanage was actually selling the children to Danzo!

Since the Nine-Tails attacked Konoha Village 17 years ago, many orphans have appeared in the village and the orphanage is under great pressure, but this is not a reason for her to sell the children to Danzo.

"We can't just let this matter go." Naruto secretly swore in his heart that he must find a way to get rid of this cancer.

Naruto continued to look through Sai's memories.

This time, they came to an underground base.

Naruto saw several Root instructors training a group of children.

These children looked only six or seven years old, but they stood straight and had obviously undergone rigorous training.

"Next." The instructor ordered.

The boy at the front of the line came out, it was Sai.

"From today on, your name is Sai. You have no past, no feelings, and no future. Do you understand?" the instructor asked in an emotionless tone.

"I see." Sai replied, with the corners of his mouth slightly raised, revealing a smile.

"Snapped!"

The instructor slapped him without saying a word.

Sai groaned in pain, covered his mouth with his hands, and slowly fell down.

Blood oozed from between his fingers.

"No laughing, no showing of emotion, no revealing of weaknesses, do you understand?!" The instructor looked down at Sai who was lying on the ground and shouted angrily.

"I understand." Sai replied, enduring the pain.

"Same for everyone else!"

"Yes, sir!" the other children answered in unison.

"What on earth was Danzo thinking?" Naruto shook his head, let go of this memory, and moved on to the next one.

This time, the scene became a classroom.

"Happy birthday!" said a gray-haired boy as he handed Sai a box.

"What is this?" Sai asked curiously. He shook the box gently a few times, but could not hear any sound from inside.

"Just open it and you'll know," the gray-haired boy said with a smile.

"Is it... a sketchbook?" Sai opened the box and his eyes lit up when he saw the gift.

"Now, you can draw me in with you."

"Thank you, Shin-nii-san!" Sai shouted excitedly, and then gave him a big hug.

"When you finish the painting, you must let me see it, okay?"

"Yes!" Sai nodded vigorously and agreed happily.

"I never thought that he actually has a brother." Naruto thought, "I am getting more and more confused about Danzo's training methods. On the one hand, he punishes those children who show their emotions, and on the other hand, he tacitly allows them to establish such a close brotherly relationship." Naruto secretly complained in his heart while continuing to look through Sai's memories.

This time, the scene changed to a desolate desert. Sai and Nobu stood face to face, both ready for battle.

Danzo stood on a cliff not far away, watching them quietly.

"I order you two to fight to the death! If by tomorrow morning, you two still haven't decided the winner, I will kill both of you, leaving no one alive!" Danzo gave the order coldly, then left using the instant body-flash technique.

Naruto watched the two brothers fight quietly. Shin actually wanted to kill his own brother!

However, he was surprised by Sai's performance. He did not fight back and seemed unwilling to hurt his brother.

Finally, Xin fell to the ground, coughing up blood. Only then did Sai understand why he did this.

"You are too kind, you are not fit to live in this world..." Xin said painfully, his tone full of helplessness.

"elder brother……"

"You have to live for me..." Xin's eyes gradually lost their luster, "You must give up your feelings. Otherwise, you can't survive. The mission of the Root Organization will kill you sooner or later..."

Sai nodded with tears in his eyes. He held his brother's hand tightly, but was powerless to save his life.

*“I really want to see his finished painting…”* This was Shin’s last thought before he died.

He closed his eyes and left this world completely.

"What a miserable life..." Naruto whispered.

He exited Sai's consciousness, and Sai's eyes returned to normal.

Naruto was very glad that he did not show his Rinnegan in front of Sai.

Sai's experience left him confused and lost, and he didn't know how to deal with it.

After reviewing Sai's memories, Naruto realized that Sai knew nothing about Danzo's plan.

To him, it was just a simple mission.

Danzo didn't even tell him the content of the mission until the last minute.

Danzo knew very well that if Sai knew the content of the mission from the beginning, Naruto and Hinata would become suspicious of him, which would jeopardize the entire plan.

"Sai." Naruto called out.

Sai slowly raised his head, his face still expressionless, but his eyes betrayed him, it was a look of sadness, regret, and to some extent, resignation.

"Sai, the person you are loyal to is Danzo, right?" Naruto asked with a hint of tentativeness in his tone.

"Tuan..." Sai was about to speak when he suddenly began to struggle violently, trying desperately to break free from the ropes that bound him, but to no avail.

He began to breathe heavily, and his tongue felt as if it had been burned by fire, it was burning hot.

Naruto saw some black marks appearing on his body, and Sai's body gradually became stiff and unable to move.

"It's a seal!" Naruto understood immediately, and he paid close attention to the changes in the black marks.
