Naruto: We are invincible

Chapter 193 Reading Memory

Naruto put away his usual cynical attitude, and a hint of indifference gradually appeared on his face.

He squatted down and kept his eyes level with Sai. His ice-blue eyes looked at Sai fearlessly, trying to see through everything about him.

And Sai responded to him without showing any weakness, his eyes were firm and he showed no intention of backing down.

The two of them were in a stalemate, and both seemed to want the other to be defeated first.

A few seconds passed, then a few minutes, and Naruto began to feel a little bored. He gave up this meaningless eye contact and stood up.

Sai then secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He didn't even realize that he had been holding his breath.

"Don't think you can break my will." Sai said. Naruto turned around suddenly after hearing this.

"It's nice to see you're finally willing to talk." Naruto said with a smile.

Seeing Sai return to his expressionless look, he almost laughed out loud.

"But don't get me wrong. I have no intention of destroying your will." Naruto continued, and when he saw Sai's jaw almost dropped in surprise, he laughed.

It was normal procedure to force a confession from a prisoner, and even a Genin knew that.

"If I really wanted to destroy your will, I would have handed you over directly to Ibiki and let him torture you mentally, or sent you to Orochimaru..."

His smile widened when he noticed that Sai's body visibly shuddered at the name "Orochimaru".

"Oh, by the way." Naruto said in an almost gloating tone, "Once Lord Orochimaru has dealt with you, you will be like a canary, singing for me obediently, and you will become a man without little Kun-kun. I have seen many of his experimental subjects, and they all ended up miserably."

"I mean... have you seen his snakes?" Naruto asked in a horrified tone, "He has more snake venom than the antidote for the entire Konoha Village. Do you know how perverted she is? She's always looking for... volunteers." Naruto said as he observed Sai's reaction. He noticed that Sai's breathing began to become rapid and his heartbeat was getting faster and faster.

"However, since I have no intention of destroying your will, you are safe for now." Naruto said as he patted Sai's shoulder in a casual manner.

"But you have to be careful of me." Naruto said, activating his Sharingan.

"People always rely too much on physical pain." Naruto explained, his tone full of disdain, "It is true that in some cases, physical pain is indeed very convincing, but members of the Root Organization are supposed to be strong-willed, ruthless, and have the heart of a perfect soldier. You should not succumb to physical pain easily, right?"

"What I mean is..." Naruto said in a condescending tone, "You should not feel fear, compassion, love, regret, or self-preservation. You should obey orders strictly, and even if your master tells you to slit your own throat, you should do it without hesitation."

Naruto drawled, his tone full of sarcasm.

"I've even heard of a secret medical ninjutsu that can destroy the nerve tissue in the brain, making a person feel no pain forever."

"I personally prefer to destroy my opponent mentally. Because no matter what you do to a person's body, you can't really kill him. You may be able to turn a person into a vegetable, but only those low-level mind controllers will do that."

"But one thing almost everyone overlooks, even a powerful ninja like Ino's father, is that a person's spiritual world is not a book that can be read at will. A person's thoughts are not words engraved in the skull that can be viewed by intruders. The mind is a complex and multi-layered thing... It is true that in some cases, those ninjas who are proficient in mind control can penetrate deep into the hearts of their victims, spy on their secrets, and read their thoughts." Naruto explained.

He noticed a drop of cold sweat sliding down Sai's forehead.

"Of course, you can choose to resist. Those with strong wills will always be able to resist invaders. However, under certain specific conditions, as long as the method is right... anyone's will will collapse." Naruto said with a smile.

"Danzo wants the perfect soldier. Let me see if you are really as perfect as he says." Naruto said, sitting cross-legged in front of Sai.

Sai tried desperately to get out of the predicament.

The curse on his body can only seal his mouth, but cannot prevent others from invading his spiritual world.

Sai tried desperately to resist when a light flashed in Naruto's eyes.

His first thought was to escape, but he was now tied up with ropes and had a chakra seal on his body, so he couldn't use ninjutsu at all.

So, he could only close his eyes and not look into Naruto's eyes.

Sai naively thought that this would prevent Naruto from invading his spiritual world, and he even secretly breathed a sigh of relief until he heard Naruto's laughter.

The problem was, the laughter didn't come from outside, but from inside his mind... He had already fallen.

##Sai's Soul Space##

Naruto entered Sai's mental world and began to quickly flip through his memories.

He started with the oldest, deepest memories, those from Sai's earliest childhood.

"Welcome back, sir," said a brown-haired, plainly dressed woman.

Naruto narrowed his eyes at her and he recognized who she was, she was the director of Konoha's orphanage.

He had dealt with her many times before, when he still lived in that hellish place.

"I believe you have something I want here." A man replied and Naruto recognized him with a look of disgust on his face.

He was a man with a cane, an X-shaped scar on his chin and a white eyepatch on his right eye. It was Danzo Shimura!

The woman nodded and stepped aside, revealing a black-haired boy with very fair skin hiding behind her.

"Should we go talk somewhere quieter?" Danzo asked.

The headmistress nodded and led Danzo through the cold corridor, stopping in front of a door and waiting for the headmistress to unlock it.

"Hahaha... You can't catch me..." Danzo, the headmistress, and the black-haired boy turned their heads after hearing the voice and saw another boy being chased in the corridor.

The boy had short golden hedgehog hair, deep blue eyes, and three whisker-like marks on each side of his cheeks. Naruto recognized it immediately; it was his childhood self.

'I never realized that Sai and I were in the same orphanage.' Naruto thought.

He didn't remember meeting Sai, but Sai had obviously seen him.

"Be quiet, you little brat!" the headmistress shouted.
