Chapter 85 Weird Corpse
"call……"
Phil Gray rubbed his brows. Was that the voice of the God of Death? Finally, he heard His words again?
"To explore the truth of death and bury the lost souls?"
Phil Gray repeated it word for word, trying to figure out its meaning, but he had no idea.
It was already dawn. When I opened the curtains on the boat, I saw a layer of newly rising golden sunlight covering the deep blue sea, which looked particularly charming.
"Boom boom boom!"
There was a knock on the door at the right time. Phil Gray opened the door and it was Eli. "Let's have breakfast together?"
"it is good."
After quickly washing up, I came to the restaurant. Not long after I sat down, I heard noisy discussions from people around me.
There were occasional exclamations.
Phil Gray and Eli didn't understand what was going on. They only vaguely heard the words "drowning" and "corpse".
Viscount Ward also came over. The knights behind him were well-trained and dressed in neat red cloaks and armor, attracting the attention of the guests in the restaurant.
"What happened?" Phil Gray asked curiously.
Viscount Ward smiled and sat in front of them. "Last night, this ship fished out a body."
Phil Gray's heart skipped a beat. What did this have to do with his dream and the words of the God of Death?
He frowned. Although he really wanted to complete the upgrade of Proverbs, now he hoped that nothing serious would happen and he could successfully go to the island and find his cousin.
"Would you like to go and take a look? I heard that the death was horrific, and the people from the Commercial Church will send someone back to the shore soon." Viscount Ward crossed his legs and said casually.
Phil Gray nodded.
On the third deck, a body that had been soaked in water and turned pale was lying on a white cloth.
Phil Gray pinched his nose, trying not to smell the unpleasant odor, but was shocked when he saw the head of the corpse.
It was exactly the same head that he had fished up in his dream.
"What's wrong?" Eli asked, looking at his ugly face.
"It's just a small scene. You must have never seen the mountain of corpses piled on top of each other on the battlefield?" Viscount Ward laughed.
"Be careful!" warned Phil Gray.
Viscount Ward, who had his back to the corpse, felt a chill behind his head. He saw the corpse actually stand up and reach out its pale hands to grab the back of his head.
"Humph!"
The knight behind Viscount Ward swung his sword and cut off the corpse's arm. The corpse fell to the ground, but the hand was still tightly grasping the Viscount's head.
"Damn it!" Viscount Ward's face was distorted, and he kept pulling his hands behind his head, which hurt. Although he released red divine power, he couldn't move his hands away.
"Sir!" The knight was stunned.
Viscount Ward was just about to cut off the hair when he saw flames appear out of nowhere, instantly burning his hand black and causing it to fall to the ground.
Of course, a few of his hairs also caught fire, but they were quickly extinguished and no great damage was caused.
"Thank you. I didn't expect that you are the one favored by the Day Prophet." Viscount Ward looked at Phil Gray who extended his hand and said while tidying up his hair.
"It doesn't matter. Why did this corpse suddenly move?"
Phil Gray wondered.
Eli leaned over and scanned every part of the body carefully. "He seems to have become a ghost."
"Undead..." Phil Gray was silent. Was this the lost soul that the God of Death asked him to bury?
"Hey? Didn't I tell you not to let anyone come over? What are you doing here?" A fat man came over, dressed gorgeously and with several jewel rings on his fingers.
"Oh, drowning in the sea is pitiful enough. We were planning to send it to the shore to see if anyone would claim it. What have you done?" The fat man then saw the broken arm and the black palm on the ground.
"He has turned into a ghost. You'd better be careful. If someone dies on the ship, don't say I didn't warn you." Viscount Ward looked at the fat man with a squint.
"Haha, then thank you, Your Excellency the Viscount." The fat man laughed and ordered people to carry it away quickly, but he didn't expect that a man who looked like a sailor ran over in panic.
He was breathing heavily and his body was shaking.
"Deputy Captain, this is bad. A ship suddenly appears and is about to hit us!"
"What? Are you kidding?" The fat man's face remained calm.
"Let's not talk about how a ship suddenly appeared at such a close distance. Let's take our Gold Coin No. 3 for example. What other ship can have such a big body? If it crashes into our ship, wouldn't it be courting death? If it doesn't work, ask the first and second mates to activate the defense mechanism!"
The fat man's eyes were full of confidence in Gold Coin No. 3. This was the ship of the Commercial Church!
The sailor was still terrified, "If you don't believe me, you can see for yourself! And it's really too late!"
The sailor shouted loudly, and in panic he jumped sideways into the water.
"Are you crazy? This place is far from the shore. You will die in the sea!" the fat man roared angrily.
The others realized something was wrong and quickly ran to a position with a wide view. In front of them was a ship that was even larger than Gold Coin No. 3. It had a sturdy black hull, an upright mast, and a flag fluttering in the wind, and it was heading straight towards them.
But now it was too late to jump into the sea to escape.
This speed should be powered by blue crystal!
At the moment the boat hit, it occurred to Phil Gray.
The solid white wall of fate stood before him. Phil Gray used all his strength to maintain this defense, but there was no collision as he had imagined. He only felt his head getting dizzy, his body getting cold, and he lost consciousness.
I don't know how long it took, but Phil Gray kept hearing someone talking in his ear.
"Gold Coin Number Three, our church spent a lot of blue crystals to ask the Creation God to reinforce it, and also added a divine power defense barrier. Even if a ship hits it, nothing will happen!"
"No, which ship can be as sturdy as our Gold Coin?"
"The captain is a veteran, and the first and second mates and other sailors have more than ten years of experience. How could they possibly collide with other ships?"
"Route, route problem..."
The muttering sound kept ringing in his ears, repeating the same few words over and over again, and Phil Gray was almost annoyed.
He sat up and felt a little sore in his neck.
Looking to the side, the person who was speaking was the fat deputy captain. He had his eyes closed and was muttering those words unconsciously.
Phil Gray's mouth twitched as he realized he was talking in his sleep.
Looking at the others, Viscount Ward had actually woken up long ago. He was sitting on a round stool, looking at the fat man who was talking in his sleep with amusement.
Phil Gray stood up and patted Eli who was lying beside him, "Wake up, we seem to be fine."
"It's okay, but don't you realize that we are no longer on Gold Coin No. 3?" Viscount Ward said in a serious voice.
