【One Piece】Dawn in the Darkness

"You old bastard, you can't take Lucci away!" Ace stood in front of Lucci and yelled at Garp, "He won't become a marine!"

"What?!" Garp showed an angry look on his face, and then rushed up and punched Ace on the head. "You won't call me grandpa now, Ace?"

"Grandpa?!" The Whitebeard pirates stared in amazement, and Whitebeard opened his eyes wide in shock.

Lucci looked at the huge bump on Ace's head in horror. This was definitely due to the use of Armament Haki. He looked at the anger on Garp's face and swallowed nervously. Why did he feel a dull pain in his head, as if he had felt his fist before?

"I'm my father's son. There's no way I can be a navy man." Lucci said quickly, pulling open his clothes to reveal the tattoo on his chest.

"What?!" Garp said with a distorted face, "Newgate, where did you pick it up from?" Why didn't I pick up this kid who is so suitable to be a navy first, Garp said angrily in his heart.

Whitebeard looked at Garp in confusion, not understanding why he was looking at him like that.

"I'm leaving!" Cap said angrily, then he turned and left, then jumped off the boat and returned to the warship.

Ace felt relieved as he watched the old man leave. He couldn't believe that he had escaped punishment.

"This visit was different from any of his previous visits."

Ace turned around to see Marco walking towards him with the same bored expression on his face as usual.

"Indeed, son." Whitebeard nodded, then looked at Ace "Why does Garp want you to become a marine so much?"

Marco noticed that there seemed to be a strange light in Dad's eyes, as if he was worried or confused about something.

"The old man made it his mission to make us into the navy." Ace complained, "I will never become a navy."

"We won't let him take you away." Thatch said with a smile, then patted his pompadour hair exaggeratedly, and said with lingering fear, "But Garp is really scary!"

"It hurts when that old guy hits me with his iron fist." Ace subconsciously touched his head and seemed to still be able to feel the pain.

"Lucci, why are you hiding too?" Harta looked at Lucci and asked puzzledly.

"Huh?" Lucci turned to look at Harta, scratched his head, and recalled his performance just now. When he heard Garp's name, his danger alarm suddenly sounded, and his intuition told him that he had to hide immediately. Why did he think so?

"Maybe I was chased by Garp before?" Lucci touched his head and said hesitantly, "After all, he is a navy."

"What's wrong?" Ace asked curiously, "Have you ever been chased by the navy before?"

"We are pirates! It would be strange if we were not chased by the navy." Thatch put his arm around Ace's shoulders and said with a carefree smile.

Hartha nodded in approval.

Ace nodded, indicating his approval.

Lucci looked at them and shook his head helplessly, but what they said was indeed correct. He recalled what happened just now. He did overreact to Garp's appearance. He seemed to be subconsciously afraid of him. Lucci pinched his temples and thought with a headache, could it be that he really had seen him before he lost his memory?

Luffy aimed at the free-falling rock in the distance and smashed it with force, grabbing the punching shoulder with his left hand to stabilize the impact of the retracting arm.

"Luffy!!" Dogura shouted to Luffy who was training, "There's information about Ace!"

"Really?" Luffy said excitedly, then grabbed the branch in front of Dogula, bounced over, took the newspaper in his hand, and read it carefully.

"Hehehe! I knew Ace was fine!" Luffy said happily while looking at Ace in the newspaper, and then a bright smile appeared on his face. "I knew Ace was the best. I don't need to worry at all. If Ace knew that I was worried, he would be angry again."

"This old man named Whitebeard must be very powerful. He even beat Ace for such a long time." Luffy said puzzledly while looking at the report in the newspaper.

Luffy put the newspaper down with a big smile on his face and decided, "When I go out to sea, I will definitely defeat him faster than Ace!"

"But why is Qi missing again?" Luffy tilted his head and asked in confusion, "Is he lost again?"

"Ah! Got it!" Luffy tapped the palm of his left hand with his right hand, a look of sudden realization appeared on his face, and then he closed his eyes. Luffy followed his strange feeling and walked towards where Qi was.

This was Qi teaching him the basics of what he called "Haki." It took some explanations and a final demonstration before he could even begin to understand what he was talking about, but once he had a firm grasp on how it worked, he learned quickly.

But he didn't really get anything surprising from this, and the situation was much like his conversations with his friends in the forest and the ocean, so it was really easy to do.

"Hey! Qi!" Luffy looked at Qi's back and rushed over quickly. He bumped into Qi's back, looked down at the book in his hand, and asked curiously, "What are you doing?"

Qi caught Luffy's body and steadied himself. He glanced at Luffy, looked at the bright smile on his face, and sighed helplessly, "Luffy, don't hit me like this, it's dangerous."

"Why?" Luffy asked in confusion, "This is faster."

Qi smiled helplessly, "Your future crew members will have a hard time."

Luffy looked at him in confusion, not understanding what he meant, and looked at the book in his hand and decided to continue with the previous question "What are you reading?"

Qi followed Luffy's gaze to the book in his hand and said with a smile, "I'm learning shipbuilding."

"Huh?" Luffy hissed in question.

"We still have a year before we go to sea." Qi looked at Luffy's puzzled expression and couldn't help but feel amused. He subconsciously ruffled his hair and said, "We don't have a boat. We need to build a small boat."

"Swoosh!" Luffy's face showed an expression of sudden enlightenment, and then he shouted excitedly, "Then I want to help too, I want a super big ship!"

"Then the materials will be left to you, Luffy." Qi looked at the excited Luffy and said with a smile.

"Yeah!" Luffy nodded, ran quickly towards the forest, and shouted excitedly, "I want to find the biggest tree."
