Chapter 69: Charles the Wyvern
The wyvern Charles has been in the wetland swamp for more than a year. With plenty of food and no powerful natural enemies, this place is simply a paradise for him. He has been living a very comfortable life recently.
Even though he had fallen and suffered serious injuries in Emerald Island, he was worried that he would be surrounded and attacked. He cautiously turned his serious injuries into minor ones and flew away from Emerald Island in a hurry.
But what he didn't expect was that the necromancer Pugna had already died in the siege of the Emerald Guard, and no one came to harass him afterwards.
Charles flew away from the Emerald Island and came to a deserted island of the former Azure Empire, where he spent some leisurely days. However, as the Victoria's Secret world was integrated into the wizarding world as a whole, Charles also gloriously became a local magical beast.
A year ago, Charles, who wanted to travel around, came to the wetland swamp and found that this was his home, so he decided to live here.
There are no suitable caves here, but there are quite a few bushes. This time, Charles's residence is on a larger tree. He chose a thick branch to build his new home.
Charles, who had eaten and drunk his fill early, was ready to rest when suddenly he seemed to smell the scent of his own blood in the air.
"Well, my seed? Could it be that a female flying dragon gave birth to my offspring?" Charles was no longer sleepy when he thought of this, and prepared to look for it in the direction he felt.
……
"Colin, what's wrong with you?" Helen asked.
"I don't know, it feels like some familiar creature is approaching." Colin replied.
The other four people did not notice anything unusual about Colin, but their current location was much deeper than the previous few days.
Everyone was ready to cast spells at any time and there was no sign of slacking off.
……
Without any warning, a magical beast entered the sight of Colin and his six companions. Everyone recognized it as a pterodactyl.
The other five people who were ready to fight at any time had already started preparing to cast spells. Although Colin was a little confused as to why this wyvern made him feel closer, now was not the time to think about these things.
The prepared fireball was released casually, but it missed, just brushing the edge of Charles' wing.
When Charles saw Colin, he immediately understood that the little guy opposite must have drunk his blood.
Colin reminded Charles of his shameful past in the Emerald Territory. Under the bullying of the necromancer Pugna, Charles shed a lot of humiliating blood. For some unknown reasons, this kid got it.
My uncle Charles is noble. Any mistake he makes is enough for the opponent to be promoted. However, the number of as many as 6 intermediate wizard apprentices also makes Charles alert.
When a high-level monster crushes a mid-level monster, the effect may be amplified if they are both monsters. If they are of different races, the effect will not be obvious and a failure may occur if you are not careful.
Charles was also a little angry after Colin's fireball brushed against his wings.
Damn it, he drank my blood and now he's attacking me? Are there still people like this in the wizarding world who are ungrateful?
Charles coughed and spit out a mouthful of venomous breath.
"Get out of the way, it's poisonous." Helen shouted.
Everyone was not stupid. When they saw the venom coming, they quickly dodged it.
"What a pity, I can't spit out much." Charles thought with some regret when he saw the venom spit onto the ground and still corroding the ground with a "sizzling" sound.
Charles no longer used spells to fight Colin and the others, but engaged in hand-to-hand combat. As a high-level magical beast, although his skin and flesh were not as thick as other sub-dragon beasts, since he had the word "dragon" in his name, he was not immune.
His claws and teeth are also good weapons of attack. Charles, who is good at melee combat, rushed in and Colin and others had a hard time fending off him.
Marcus used the Earth Spike Technique, which had some effect on Charles, but was not very useful.
After trying spell attacks, Connie felt that the effect was not as good as archery. However, in Charles' opinion, arrows of this strength were far less damaging than the bone spear of the necromancer Pugna.
Facing Charles, the high-level magical beast, Colin and the other six still had a hard time. The melee ability of the intermediate knight squire could not withstand the power impact of the high-level magical beast. Fortunately, Conrad and Banta also had the physical strength of the intermediate knight squires.
Thanks to the continuous output of Marcus, Helen and Connie, we did not lose.
"Are we back to the scene of fighting the BOSS again?" Charles, who had been unable to defeat the enemy for a long time, thought of the battle with the necromancer Pugna.
There were also physical warriors in the front row, and spells were always cast at him from the back. The only difference was that the attack strength of Colin and the other six was not as high as that of Pugna.
After a tough fight, Charles no longer wanted to fight Colin and the others.
Forget it, I’m too lazy to bother with these reptiles. I’m afraid of you.
Turning around, Charles flew high into the sky.
"Humph, I won't play with you guys anymore. Can't I just leave?"
Since Colin and the others couldn't be defeated in a short time, Charles had to retreat first. After all, there were other high-level magical beasts in the wetland swamp, and he must be careful not to be taken advantage of.
Seeing Charles flying high, Colin and his friends felt helpless. It was difficult to catch him if he couldn't fly.
Charles took one last look at Colin and quickly flew away from the battlefield.
Colin and the others did not waste their spells because they knew they could not cause any fatal damage. What if they encountered some other monsters? Would they still be able to play?
Seeing that Charles had indeed flown away, several people felt that they could not go any further. With the strength of the six of them, they were not strong enough to roam the wetlands and swamps. They would be very passive when encountering a high-level monster, especially one that could fly. It would be a waste of effort to fight for a long time.
After resting for a while, several people prepared to return to the outside of the swamp. They had been out for more than ten days and had gained quite a lot.
The return journey was much faster. I encountered a group of harpies again. I easily slaughtered 8 of them. Even though these harpies could fly, not a single one escaped.
The real danger in the wetland swamp comes from the road almost out of the swamp. Unexpectedly, I encountered a wild bull at the edge of the swamp.
This creature's strength as a high-level Warcraft is beyond words. The key is that it has a unique spell - Death Gaze. This spell is not petrification, but direct death. Although the probability is very low, as long as you encounter that very small probability, you are directly OVER. Without anti-lethal equipment, no one wants to try this.
They stared at each other from a distance for a few minutes. Perhaps Manniu did not want to trouble Colin and the others. After Manniu left, Colin and the others quickly passed that section of the road.
"Huh, it's finally out." Connie said, patting her chest.
Colin glanced at Connie and said, "Yeah, it's really white."
"He has thick skin and strong flesh. He really has thick skin and strong flesh. This guy is much more difficult to deal with than the last wyvern." Marcus said with lingering fear.
Colin and Helen looked at each other. This journey of testing their strength was over. They gained a lot and realized their own strength. They needed to work harder when they returned.
