The programmer and his woman

Chapter 21 System goes online

These days, the atmosphere in the department is as relaxed as the breeze on a summer afternoon. Everyone is quietly waiting for the test results from the operation and maintenance department. Once the green light comes on, our carefully written program can be officially launched. In this spare time, Xiao Wenwen from the operation and maintenance department always approaches me intentionally or unintentionally. Her bright eyes always seem to be able to see through my free moments.

"Brother Wang, I have been testing the program you wrote. It is amazing! I have always admired your programming ability. Can you spare some time to give me some pointers?" She smiled, her tone full of playfulness and anticipation.

I knew in my heart that this was just her way of finding a topic, but in this department full of experts, her praise made me feel a little flattered. I had no choice but to smile, let her sit next to my workstation, moved a chair and sat down, ready to explain to her. But it was obvious that her mind was not on the procedure, she just wanted to find a reason to get close to me.

"Brother Wang, why are you sitting so far away? I'm not going to eat you." She muttered, seeming to be really confused. Then, she added: "I'm not used to the placement of my fingers on the keyboard, can you help me adjust the key position?"

Her repeated calls of "Brother Wang" made my heart tremble, and I felt a tingling sensation. I smiled helplessly, held her hand, and helped her adjust the position of her fingers. This was the first time I touched a girl's hand so seriously, it was soft and warm, and I couldn't help but immerse myself in this brief touch.

At this moment, Lao Zhao came in. Seeing us, he joked, "Hey, Xiao Wenwen is here to see our Xiao Wang again? The grass in our department should be careful not to be blown away by your little wind!"

We both blushed at the same time. Wenwen gave Lao Zhao a look of reproach and then ran out. Lao Zhao looked at me and smiled mysteriously: "Xiao Wang, I'm an experienced person and I can tell you some experience. You can date this person, but you have to be cautious about getting married. Marriage is a siege, it's hard to get out once you're in. You're still young, enjoy the sweetness of love for a few more years, don't rush to lock yourself in."

I smiled and nodded, but I was thinking: This old Zhao is really an old naughty boy who knows how to live. But what he said does make sense. Life is short, why not enjoy some good times?

Recently, Lao Li has been absent from work frequently. He and I have a close relationship in the department. I heard that he might be looking for a new job opportunity, and I couldn't help but feel a little sorry. However, the most difficult problem is that the database he is responsible for cannot be accessed at a critical moment because his computer has a password set, and only he knows it.

"Xiao Wang, do you know the password to Lao Li's computer?" Sister Wang asked anxiously.

I shook my head helplessly to indicate that I didn't know.

"Then who has Lao Li's phone number?" Sister Wang continued to ask.

Everyone looked at each other and said that they didn't have Lao Li's contact information.

"You may need to ask Lao Wang." Lao Zhang made a suggestion.

Unfortunately, Lao Wang was not in the office today. Sister Wang frowned, time was running out, the site deployment would be done tomorrow, and the last joint debugging had to be completed today.

"Well, Sister Wang, although I don't know Mr. Li's password, I can try other methods to open his computer." I hesitated for a moment, but decided to give it a try.

"How do you open it if you don't know the password?" Sister Wang looked at me in surprise.

"I'll give it a try, but there's no guarantee of success," I explained.

After trying several quick cracking methods without success, I decided to use brute force cracking. After loading a common dictionary, the computer was successfully opened in less than a minute. It turned out that the password was very simple, just 6 pure numbers. I guessed it might be Lao Li's birthday.

"Sister Wang, it's open!" I shouted excitedly.

Sister Wang hurried over to check and confirmed that the computer was unlocked.

"Okay, you have this ability!" Sister Wang said in surprise.

"Do you know how to start Lao Li's database?" Sister Wang continued to ask.

"I know, Sister Wang. I have been working on it with Engineer Li these days." I answered confidently.

Afterwards, I successfully started the database and performed the final joint debugging. Everything went smoothly and we packaged the final version.

After a while, Lao Li hurried back to the office and apologized to everyone as soon as he entered the door. When he learned that I had cracked his computer password, he patted my shoulder and said with a smile: "You kid, it seems that I have to be careful of you in the future, you kid are too scary."

I smiled in response and asked him how he was doing. Lao Li told me that he had recently gone to a training center for an interview and might soon work there. He felt that teaching was more suitable for his age, but he promised to come back to visit us when he had time.

Today, the sun is shining brightly and the breeze is not dry. It is a good day for the system to be officially launched. Colleagues from our department, the network department and the operation and maintenance department gathered together, stepped on the company bus, and drove to the large maternal and child health care hospital located in the development zone. This hospital is not only a municipal-level Class III Class A maternal and child health care institution, but also a comprehensive medical center integrating medical treatment, scientific research, teaching, prevention, rehabilitation and maternal and child health care technical guidance.

We were tasked with an important mission: installing and using our carefully developed new system for the hospital. This system aims to fully automate the traditional hospital registration, price quotation, medical record management, medical treatment, and medication collection processes, and seamlessly connect with the medical insurance system to achieve a one-card function. Although it sounds complicated and cumbersome, in simple terms, it allows patients to use their medical insurance cards to register and see a doctor in the hospital more conveniently.

Today, our software department unexpectedly experienced a rare leisure time on the launch day of the system of the Maternal and Child Health Hospital. We originally thought that it would be a busy battle of debugging and responding to emergencies, but the actual situation was not the case.

It turns out that the hardware work of installing computers and laying network cables for each department has long been efficiently completed by the professional network department. With their rich experience and superb technology, they ensure that every detail is perfect, laying a solid foundation for the stable operation of the system.

The key tasks such as installation and debugging are taken over by the operation and maintenance department. As the guardian of the system, they use a rigorous attitude and professional skills to ensure the smooth launch and stable operation of the system. Their hard work allows our software department to watch with ease today.

However, this leisure time does not mean that we can relax. On the contrary, we understand more clearly that as software developers, our responsibility is to ensure the stability and security of the program. Although we don't have many tasks today, we still remain highly vigilant and are ready to deal with any emergencies that may arise.

At noon, we had lunch in the hospital cafeteria. The cafeteria was clean and tidy, but not many people came to eat here. In addition to our table, there was only one other table of guests. From their chat, we learned that they were all surgeons who had just come out of the operating room and chose to eat here to take a break.

Although the food here tastes good, the price is not affordable, so few doctors choose to eat here. However, this makes me a little curious about the income of doctors. In the public's impression, doctors are a noble and hard profession, and their efforts are often not proportional to their income. But the situation before me does not seem to be the case.

Listening to the doctors' conversation, I noticed that they mentioned the topic of "red envelopes". Although they claimed that they did not accept red envelopes, the pomp and atmosphere at the table made me suspicious.

On the first day, the dean received us and we followed his instructions and stepped into this authoritative place that only a few people can enter on weekdays. The dean enthusiastically introduced the layout and features of the office to us, and then hurried away to busy himself with his daily administrative affairs.

We stood in the spacious office and looked around. Various medical books and journals were neatly placed on the bookshelf, and several paintings with profound meanings were hung on the wall. The whole room exuded a calm and solemn atmosphere. However, this peaceful atmosphere did not last long.

Suddenly, we heard hurried footsteps and the sound of high heels outside the door. We looked in the direction of the sound and saw a woman in a white coat pushing the door open. She claimed to be a doctor, but we could not sense any professional qualities of a doctor from her words and actions. There was an inexplicable excitement and greed in her eyes, which made us doubt her identity.

"You are the people sent by the software company to develop the system, right?" she asked while looking at us in the office.

We nodded and motioned for her to continue. She seemed not to care about our presence, and walked straight to the dean's desk and began to search through the boxes and cabinets for something. Her movements were rough and fast, and soon the documents, books and office supplies on the desk were in a mess.

We looked at her in surprise, our hearts filled with confusion and uneasiness. Lao Zhao finally couldn't help but ask, "Doctor, this is the dean's office. It's not good for you to look for things like this, right?"

The woman raised her head, looked at us with contempt, and said, "What's wrong with the dean's office? I can come and go freely here and take whatever I want. I would take it even if he was here!"

Her words shocked us even more. We couldn't help but start to speculate about her relationship with the dean and why she was so arrogant. I carefully observed her appearance and clothing. She had big wavy hair and heavy makeup, which was very different from the image of other doctors in the hospital. This made me start to think of some not-so-good things.

After some trouble, the woman finally found what she wanted - a bottle of cosmetics and a small object. She stuffed them into her pocket with satisfaction, then walked out of the office in her high heels. We watched her leave, feeling helpless and indignant.

"What should we do?" I turned around with a worried look on my face and asked Lao Zhao what to do. Lao Zhao also looked helpless, and could only shake his head gently, sighing and saying, "There are only a few of us left in this room right now, and there are no surveillance devices installed here, and there are no other witnesses present. If the dean comes back later and sees this messy and chaotic scene, I'm afraid it will be difficult for us to explain it to him clearly."

Hearing this, Sister Wang on the side quickly suggested: "In my opinion, why don't we help clean up together? After all, if the dean comes back and finds this place in such a mess, it will be difficult to explain it clearly then." At this point, there seems to be no other way, so a few of us took action and began to organize and clean the items in the office.

After working together for a long time, we finally put the messy office back in order. But who would have thought that just when we had finished tidying up everything, the female doctor who had just left came back again, twisting her waist.

"Oh my, my memory is so bad!" she cried excitedly, "I haven't found what I'm looking for yet! The old man must have hidden the gift he promised me somewhere!"

After that, she started to rummage again, messing up the things she had just sorted out. We were almost going crazy watching her crazy behavior. Lao Zhao couldn't help but ask again: "Madam, what is your relationship with the dean? These are the dean's personal belongings. It's not appropriate for you to rummage like this? Why don't we get the dean to come and look for them together?"

When the woman heard this, her face instantly became extremely gloomy, and her anger erupted like a volcano: "Don't you guys know your identities? It's obviously just a software company. What qualifications do you have to interfere in the internal affairs of our hospital? Let me tell you, let alone this small office, even in the dean's house, as long as I want, I can come in and out freely at any time and take anything at will!"

Before she finished speaking, the woman began to search everywhere more and more hysterically, but no matter how hard she tried, she still couldn't find what she dreamed of. In the end, she had no choice but to slam the door and leave angrily.

Witnessing this, Sister Wang knew the situation was serious, so she decided to report to the dean immediately and explain the truth. However, unexpectedly, when she looked for the dean everywhere, she found that she could not find him. In desperation, Sister Wang could only return to the place alone. Looking at the mess, we were all filled with helplessness and exhaustion.

I couldn't help but start to doubt my previous judgment. Seeing that this woman's words and actions were so strange, she must have a mental problem! If the facts were really as I expected, then the relationship between them must be extraordinary. Normally, people would avoid such things as much as possible, so how could they easily spread them to others? After all, no one would talk about such a secret matter when they had nothing to do!

This day's experience made us feel absurd and exhausted. We decided not to come to this office tomorrow, but to go to the site to help the operation and maintenance team install and debug the system.
