Hogwarts: The Savior's Strong Cousin
Chapter 38 All House-Elves! Unite!
Fortunately, Dudley and Harry stopped it in time, otherwise, given Petunia's protective nature, there might have been an extra explosive piece of news in the next day's Witch Weekly or The Quibbler magazine about how "my greasy, drunken son is obsessed with my sister and offends my son and nephew."
I'm afraid Hogwarts will lose a famous Slytherin forever.
For Harry, this was his perfect first vacation.
There were no forced housework, no cold eyes from his uncle and aunt, and no cramped storage room. He even didn't want to go to school anymore.
But he still missed his friends. Although he had been exchanging letters with Ron, Hermione and others, Harry had not received any reply.
Time soon passed and it was almost time for school to start.
"Okay, you two brats, don't make any noise upstairs while I'm entertaining guests!"
Vernon reminded Dudley and Harry fiercely. Originally, he planned to let Dudley come to entertain the guests, but unfortunately our brother D was not very interested in this kind of Muggle social interaction, so Vernon, who doted on his eldest son, had to give up.
"Of course, uncle."
Harry nodded and took a biscuit from the basket beside him.
This would have been an absolutely impossible treatment in the past.
But Vernon just snorted and said no more.
The two brothers went upstairs, and as soon as Harry opened the door of the room, a "little monster" came into view.
It has big bat-like ears, a pair of bulging green eyes, about the size of a tennis ball, a thin nose, and a short body. At first glance, it looks a little strange, but Harry still instinctively feels that this little guy has no malicious intent and is very cute.
"Harry Potter!"
“It’s such an honor!”
The little monster was very polite. He gracefully bowed to Harry and Dudley like an aristocrat.
"Uh...hello?"
Harry glanced at Dudley for help, but found that his all-powerful cousin just shrugged and said nothing.
"Dobby, my name is Dobby, sir."
"House-elf, Dobby."
Harry then remembered that he had heard before that there was a magical race whose status was low and who had to serve their loyal masters for generations. Only those ancient and wealthy wizard families could have such a house-elf.
They will take care of all household chores and have a high level of magic, even more powerful than their masters.
"Is this... Dudley Dursley?"
Dobby looked at the tall figure curiously, and Dudley snorted and nodded - mainly because he was chewing boiled chicken breast in his mouth, and the dry and bland taste made him speechless for a long time.
"It's presumptuous, but my bedroom doesn't seem like a good place to host a house-elf right now."
Harry heard the noise downstairs and quickly spoke to Dobby in front of him, only to see Dobby lower his head with a sad look on his face.
"Oh, I'm not unhappy to see you, but...is there any special reason why you came to see me?"
Dobby's expression suddenly became eager.
"Oh, yes, sir, Dobby is here to tell you..."
"Sit down."
Seeing that he was talking incoherently, Harry politely asked him to sit down.
Unexpectedly, as soon as these words came out, the elf who was so enthusiastic just now suddenly showed an embarrassed expression.
"Sit... sit down?"
With a "wow", Dobby burst into tears. The sound was shrill and noisy. Harry was so scared that he quickly closed the door.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you."
"Offended Dobby? No wizard would ask Dobby to sit down - like an equal!"
The elf choked as he spoke, but Dudley couldn't bear to watch it anymore, so he picked up the light house-elf and sat him down on the bed. After a long while, Dobby finally calmed down.
"You must have never met a good wizard."
Dudley said something comforting and Dobby nodded subconsciously.
“No.”
Then, Dobby was stunned, suddenly fell to his knees, and slammed his big head hard into the wardrobe beside him.
"Bad Dobby! Bad Dobby!"
Harry was shocked. When had he ever seen such a neurotic creature? It would be fine if his friends didn't send him a letter during the holidays, but when this little creature appeared, it either cried and laughed or smashed walnuts on its head. Who could stand it?
"Stand up, don't kneel!"
Dudley suddenly shouted, picked up Dobby's tattered clothes and made him stand up.
"No… Dobby must punish himself! Dobby almost said something bad about the Master's family!"
Dobby struggled in Dudley's hands, trying desperately to keep himself going with the weird ritual of punishment.
"No one can make you kneel, you know?"
"Damn it! I knew the school spirit of the magic school was so bad, but I didn't expect that the order of your world is also in chaos!"
"How can anyone be born to be a slave?"
Da was so angry that he slapped Dobby on the back of the head, and then put the dazed house-elf on the ground.
"Listen carefully, you are free elves, born equal to wizards!"
"You have magical talents stronger than wizards!"
"Even Lucius Malfoy can't keep you down forever, Dobby!"
Dobby was stunned.
He looked at Dudley in disbelief. This burly guy actually knew who his master was?
Moreover, he could say something like this...which is incompatible with the traditional view of wizards?
Dobby was not even shocked by how well he knew Dudley. He was already so moved by his next words that he burst into tears.
"Is there no one who can help you? Can I help you?"
Harry comforted Dobby at the right time, and the elf cried even harder.
"Please, keep your voice down."
Scratching his head, Harry's paws were somewhat numb.
House elves must serve a family forever and can only be "liberated" when they die, which is the case for almost all house elves. And Dobby's strange ritual is also a punishment for disobeying the master's orders.
But it was obvious that Dudley's violence overwhelmed this bullshit rule of natural obedience.
As long as you have power, you can indeed be fairer than other people.
At least after being tormented by Dudley like that, Dobby is no longer tormented like that.
"If they knew Dobby had been here..."
A rare look of determination appeared on the elf's face.
"But Dobby must come here..."
"Dobby must protect Harry Potter..."
"Warn him not to return to Hogwarts during this school year!"
Hearing this, Harry was stunned.
Can't go back to school?
That's still a living market!
