Chapter 1102: Not Even Taking Care of Myself
"Where is Xiaoxue?" Li Xiangqian raised his head, looked out the window with empty eyes, and suddenly asked.
Lin Xiaoyu turned around and glanced at her daughter in the room. Xiaoxue was reading a book in her room and didn't seem to notice the noise outside. "She is reading in her room. She seems to be in a good mood today."
Li Xiangqian nodded, but his heart was not too volatile. Xiaoxue's emotions had nothing to do with him. In fact, the relationship between him and Xiaoxue was becoming more and more distant. His daughter's growth took away a lot of his focus, and he himself seemed to have lost his confidence as a father.
"You take a rest and eat something. I'll go cook." Lin Xiaoyu said softly, with a hint of tenderness in her eyes.
Li Xiangqian did not answer, but just leaned on the sofa silently, closed his eyes, his mind was still empty, without even a clear goal. Countless distracting thoughts intertwined together, like a tangled mess, weighing him down. He hadn't felt this lost for a long time, and even doubted whether he could find his direction again.
Li Xiangqian stood in the yard, holding a hoe in his hand, preparing to continue tidying up the land in early spring. The weather had become warmer recently, the sun shone through the thin clouds on the earth, and the air was filled with the fresh smell of soil and grass. It seemed like a good day for work.
However, for some reason, Li Xiangqian always felt that he couldn't concentrate. Whenever he lowered his head and started to work hard, there was always an inexplicable sense of anxiety lingering in his heart. No matter what he did, it seemed that he couldn't get rid of that invisible pressure. His thoughts were like a tangled mess, becoming increasingly difficult to sort out. The harder he tried, the more tired he felt.
He reached out to swing the hoe, but used too much force. The hoe chopped down hard, and suddenly a sharp pain came from his wrist. Li Xiangqian was slightly stunned, and almost instinctively let go of the tool in his hand. Then he heard a "snap" sound, and his footsteps were tripped by the sudden pain, and the whole person fell heavily to the ground.
At that moment, Li Xiangqian felt as if he had lost his balance. The stones and hard soil on the ground stung his knees. As his body fell, a dull pain ran down his legs to his brain, and he couldn't help but scream softly. The pain spread quickly, and Li Xiangqian's palms fell to the ground, trying to support his body, but the impact of his knees made it almost impossible for him to stand.
His hair was disheveled, sweat dripped down his cheeks, he felt dizzy, and his mind was in chaos. He tried to stand up, but the heaviness he had never felt before trapped him tightly. He couldn't help but lower his head, holding on to a dead branch on the ground, trying to stabilize himself.
The pain eased a little, and Li Xiangqian slowly climbed up, holding onto the wall beside him, trying to stand steady. However, his legs were still trembling slightly, and he felt a little uncomfortable when he stood up, as if his whole body had been ravaged. What was worse was that the pain in his wrist seemed to be getting more obvious, even spreading to his shoulder.
"This is really troublesome." Li Xiangqian whispered to himself, with a hint of helplessness in his voice. He stretched out his hand and rubbed his wrist, his movements were a little clumsy, and it seemed that even getting up had become difficult.
He instinctively wanted to go to the house to find some medicine, or just sit down and take a rest, but at this moment, another more irritating emotion quietly rose up. Li Xiangqian looked at the scattered tools and messy land in the yard, and suddenly felt powerless. These small setbacks continued to pile up in his life, breaking his sense of control over life and making him feel more and more uneasy.
"What bad luck." He sighed softly, looking at the fields in the distance that were gradually disappearing in the twilight, his eyes empty.
At this time, the door of the house rang, and Lin Xiaoyu appeared at the door. She saw Li Xiangqian standing against the wall with a look of panic on his face, and hurried over: "What's wrong? Why did you fall?"
Li Xiangqian frowned, endured the pain, and shook his head: "Nothing, just careless." He tried not to appear too embarrassed. After all, he was no longer at the age where he could get hurt easily and make others worry.
Lin Xiaoyu was not convinced by him. She immediately grabbed his arm and her eyes became serious: "How could you accidentally fall like this? How is your wrist?"
Li Xiangqian gently pulled his hand back and forced a smile: "It's okay, I just fell down, it's nothing serious."
Seeing that he was being stubborn, Lin Xiaoyu became even more worried. She pulled Li Xiangqian into the house and said, "Let me take a look."
She helped him into the house, sat him on the sofa, opened some first aid kits in the kitchen, took out ointments and bandages, and began to treat Li Xiangqian's wounds with skillful movements. Li Xiangqian lowered his head, his heart full of conflicting emotions. Although the pain made him a little dazed, what made him more irritated than this little pain was that he could never get out of that powerless mood. Every time he was injured or encountered difficulties, he could only endure it for a limited time, and what he really wanted to solve seemed not the physical pain, but the anxiety and uneasiness in his heart.
While treating Li Xiangqian's wound, Lin Xiaoyu couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong with you lately? You've been so busy every day that you can't even take care of yourself. Can't you slow down and take care of yourself?"
Li Xiangqian sensed the concern in her tone and suddenly felt a little sad. He didn't answer, but just sighed softly. Seeing this, Lin Xiaoyu stopped what she was doing and looked at him: "What's wrong with you? You seem to be restless recently, and nothing is right."
Li Xiangqian was silent for a moment, then looked up into her eyes. Lin Xiaoyu's eyes were clear and gentle, as if she could see through his inner confusion. He lowered his head, his fingers unconsciously stroking the fabric of the sofa: "I... don't know." He spoke in a low voice, "I just... always feel something is wrong. I can't do anything well. Every day I feel like I'm wasting time and getting lost in the trivialities of life. It's like there's an invisible pressure, no matter how hard I try, nothing changes."
A trace of heartache flashed in Lin Xiaoyu's eyes. She gently held Li Xiangqian's hand and softened her voice: "You have to know that not everything can be done as you expect. Life is like this. It can't always be smooth sailing. You see, you have been working hard all the time. Maybe you are tired."
Li Xiangqian looked at her with a complicated look. Indeed, he was very tired and even a little overwhelmed. But he was not able to find an emotional outlet or have enough support like Lin Xiaoyu.
