Hogwarts in the shadows

Chapter 12 Sorting in the Medical Wing

"What do you get when you mix powdered narcissus root, porcupine quills, and wormwood juice?"

What's going on? Why are you asking questions?

Hephis began to recall the knowledge in his mind.

"If you only have these three ingredients, you can make a brain-enhancing potion."

"What potions can be made with humanoid grass, diffusa, Esk herbs, and dragon bones?"

"Bone-growing medicine, but you can't add too much Esk herbs, otherwise it will aggravate the pain of bone growth..."

"Okay, stop showing off your shallow common sense." Before Snape could continue to mock, Madam Pomfrey hurried over.

"Enough, Severus, he is in a bad mental state and needs rest." Madam Pomfrey looked at Snape with great dissatisfaction.

Snape dropped two small bottles of potion onto Hephis's quilt.

"I think Mr. Dam should know which bottle to drink first."

After saying that, he turned around and left.

"Just a moment, Professor Snape."

Hephis felt that it was terrible to meet Snape in this situation.

Now that Snape was interested in him, he couldn't miss this opportunity.

"What else can the famous Mr. Dame do for you?" Snape turned around.

"Professor, actually, my current condition is not just due to staying up late."

"It seems that Mr. Dam is finally going to confess everything to his seemingly gullible professor?"

"I'm sorry, professor. Actually, my body has been acting strangely recently. I lose weight suddenly from time to time, and no matter how much I eat, I can't make up for it."

Hephis hesitated for a moment and added, "And my memory seems to be problematic."

"Oh, poor child, you should have told us this earlier." Madam Pomfrey looked concerned when she heard this.

Professor Snape was stunned at first, then stared straight into Hephes' eyes.

It was obvious that Snape was using Legilimency, but surprisingly, Hephaestus's memory was in disarray.

Hephis's mind was filled with many fragments of memories that were clearly not his.

Snape couldn't figure out the reason for a moment.

"You should talk to Madam Pomfrey about this, not me."

Snape frowned, said in a cold voice, and turned away.

"Severus...he is really...child, don't worry, we will find a way to solve your problem."

Madam Pomfrey consoled him, settling Hephis back down.

Watch him drink the tonic and the palliative, then gently draw the curtain and leave.

Principal's Office——

"Give the potion to the child."

"Still as reliable as ever, Severus. How is the child now?"

"He should be asleep by now."

"That's good! Minerva has been worried for a long time. If she hadn't been busy, she would have gone to the hospital wing to keep an eye on it."

"Dumbledore, that child is very strange, his brain is in a mess, and many memories..."

"Severus, we can't use Legilimency on students." Dumbledore stared at Snape seriously.

"Okay! Headmaster." After saying that, Snape turned around and was about to leave.

"Wait, Severus, what happened to that child's memory."

Snape looked sarcastic, "You old bee, why are you pretending? You just want to know."

Snape just looked at Dumbledore without saying anything.

"Okay! Severus, I think for the sake of Mr. Dame's health, it's okay to use it occasionally." Dumbledore had no choice but to admit defeat.

"His memory...and his body..." Snape explained in detail.

"Severus, Mr. Dame, I'm sorry to bother you. I think you have a solution, right?"

"Hmph!" Snape turned and was about to leave again.

"Just a moment, Severus."

"Anything else?" Snape was clearly getting impatient.

"It's about Harry. He's enrolled. I hope..."

The next morning, when Hephes woke up in the sunshine, he felt indescribably relaxed.

It wasn't long before Madam Pomfrey came in with a hot breakfast and a bottle of tonic potion.

"Thank you, Madam Pomfrey. I feel much better now. Can I be discharged?"

"Child, no, your body has not fully recovered yet."

"But, ma'am, I really do feel better."

"I don't want you to think, I want me to think."

Seeing Madam Pomfrey's serious expression, Hephis chose to follow his heart, stopped arguing, and lowered his head to eat breakfast obediently.

after awhile.

"Good morning, Bobby, I have something to do with Mr. Dam."

"Good morning, Albus. The child is still very weak. You can't stay here for too long."

"It will be over, I think."

Albus Dumbledore stepped into the ward with a smile, wisdom shining in his eyes, and his silver hair and beard shone with a soft luster in the sunlight.

Hephis lay in bed with his arms tucked under the covers.

He was secretly controlling the shadow and practicing the technique of transformation.

Dumbledore's arrival frightened him so much that he immediately restored his shadow to its original state.

"Good morning, Mr. Dame. It looks like you are recovering well."

"Good morning, Headmaster Dumbledore. I feel much better. I think I can be discharged now."

"I think we should still listen to Madam Pomfrey's opinion on this matter, don't we?"

"All right!"

"Mr. Dam, would you like a piece of candy?" Dumbledore took out a handful of candy from his pocket and handed it to Hephis.

"Uh, no, thank you."

Hephis looked at the candies in Dumbledore's hand. Those candies were of strange shapes, like living cockroaches, struggling in his hand.

Hephis didn't dislike cockroaches, after all, they had been with him for more than a year, but he still forgot about eating them.

"People always need a little more sweets. Mr. Dam, since you are feeling well now, there are some things I need to explain to you."

"Principal Dumbledore, you can just call me Hephis. Please go ahead."

"Be a polite child. Hephis, Professor Snape has already told me about your situation. He is already trying to find a solution, and I believe the problem will be solved soon."

"Thank you, Headmaster Dumbledore, and thank you, Professor Snape."

"The second thing is that you suddenly fainted on the train and missed the Sorting Ceremony. So now, I need to make up for this for you."

"Oh...right here? Okay."

After Hephis nodded his agreement, Dumbledore pulled the famous Sorting Hat from his pocket.

He gently put the hat on Hephis's head and explained with a smile: "This is the Sorting Hat, you just need to wear it."

"Ah! A celebrity! You fainted and were sent to the Hospital Wing on your first day at school. You are the first student in the history of Hogwarts to be sorted in the Hospital Wing."

As soon as the Sorting Hat touched Hephis's hair, it made a surprised sound.

"Uh......"

Hephis was a little embarrassed and looked at Dumbledore awkwardly, and the latter responded with an inclusive smile.

"Should we start the Sorting?" Dumbledore said softly.
