Hogwarts in the shadows
Chapter 4: Professor Cat Comes to Your Home
Hephis was playing with the small pair of scissors formed by the shadow in his hand.
The hour hand quietly slid past the mark of 11, and a gleam of light flashed in his eyes.
He put on a black robe and began to act under the cover of darkness.
He hid in the corner of his neighbor's house and looked around to make sure there was no one around.
A shadow stretched in from the crack in the door and gently opened it.
Hephis quickly dodged and entered the room and closed the door gently.
The room was dark, with only a faint ray of moonlight shining through the gap in the curtains.
Suddenly, a light snoring sound was heard.
Hephis looked in the direction of the voice and saw a middle-aged man with a balding head sleeping soundly in a comfortable bed.
Hephis raised his hand slightly, and the man's shadow immediately emerged.
He held a pair of scissors made of shadow in his hand and began to slowly cut the man's shadow.
He constantly observed his expression and movements to make sure everything was under his control.
The man's shadow was as tough as iron, and every time he cut it, Hephis had to use a lot of strength, making his hands feel slightly sore.
After five minutes of effort, he finally succeeded in cutting out the man's shadow.
During the whole process, the man was sleeping soundly.
Hephis breathed a sigh of relief. The first step was successful.
He released the scissors in his hand, allowing them to merge back into his shadow.
He put away the shadow that had just been cut off and left quietly.
When Hephis returned home, he couldn't wait to take out the man's shadow and swallowed it without hesitation.
Hephis's physique was not considered strong, but after swallowing the shadow, his muscles swelled instantly.
The strength seemed to have more than doubled, and every corner of the body felt a slight tingling sensation.
Hephis frowned slightly, carefully feeling this sudden power.
His physical endurance seems to be quite good.
He estimated that he could withstand ten more such shadows.
The increase in strength was within his expectations.
Next is the knowledge contained in the man’s shadow.
Hephis began to think, the man's memories flashing through his mind like a fragmented movie.
He continued to conduct experiments and even vomited out the shadow in the middle.
After repeated attempts and summaries, we came to the conclusion.
After swallowing a shadow, he is able to gain the powers and memories of the original owner.
Strength is fed back to the body instantly, but memory requires him to actively recall it.
What surprised him most was that his memory was indeed enhanced when he devoured the shadow.
When he opened Oxford Reading Tree Stage 5, he found that he could not only understand the content easily.
Even after spitting out the shadow, he could still clearly recall some of the content in the book.
In other words, his original idea was indeed correct, and Devouring Shadows could indeed be used as a learning accelerator.
And this is just the shadow of one person.
If he could devour the shadows of more people, Hephis believed, he would be a pig standing in the wind.
I looked at the gold watch on the table and it was already one o'clock in the morning.
He still has five hours to study, and he has to get the shadow back on the man before he wakes up.
Although I don’t know if without the shadow, it will be erased under the sun like in the cartoons.
But he didn't want to let him get hurt for no reason.
At dawn, Hephis simply released the man's shadow.
Then he stretched out his body and lay on the bed like a lazy big cat.
Two black hands skillfully massaged his head to relieve his fatigue, and he fell into a deep sleep.
In the afternoon, Hephis woke up from his sleep and started his daily training.
At night, he continued to transform into a night ghost, robbing the rich and giving to the poor.
Then find a quiet place and take a rest.
Near the early hours of the morning, he set out again, finished cutting the shadows and went home to study.
From the man's memory, Hephis learned some things about his neighbor.
This brought the number of shadows he absorbed to six, and his learning speed increased dramatically.
Although he still can't remember everything he sees, his memory has indeed improved.
In just three nights, he had finished reading the Oxford Reading Tree and Cambridge Primary Science series.
Although he couldn't remember everything, he had no problem with basic reading and writing.
However, excessive mental exertion caused him to sleep longer and longer and his appetite increased significantly.
"Bang, bang, bang..." A series of rapid knocks on the window woke Hephes from his sleep.
He opened his eyes blearily, rubbed them hard, and looked towards the source of the sound.
I saw a familiar round-faced fat chicken flapping its wings against the window.
Spider-web-like cracks have appeared on the window, and it will probably break if it is hit a few more times.
Hefeth quickly put on his pants and opened the door.
Before he could say anything, the owl flew to him impatiently and threw a letter on him.
Then it turned gorgeously, flapped its wings and flew away, leaving him disheveled in the wind.
Hephis had stored some dried fish as a thank you to the owl that delivered the letter, but he didn't expect the little guy to just drop the letter and leave.
He smiled helplessly, picked up the letter on the ground and began to read.
The general meaning is, given his current situation.
A teacher will come to his house at nine o'clock tomorrow morning to explain it to him.
It’s okay. I notified him in advance before visiting him, but I don’t know who will be coming?
He yawned and continued to indulge in his sweet dream.
Eat, train, rob, and then Hephis goes to the department store again.
He stole some daily necessities and directed the four black hands to clean up the house a little.
Tonight, Hephis did not go out to sketch and study as usual.
He needed to have a good sleep and get enough rest to prepare for entering the magical world tomorrow.
The next morning, sunlight streamed into the room and the clock pointed to nine o'clock.
A knock on the door broke the silence, and Hephis quickly stood up to answer it.
An elegant lady was standing outside the door. She was wearing a dark green robe with a black belt around her waist. Her silver hair was tied up high and a gentle smile was on her face.
This is Professor Cat, Minerva McGonagall.
Hephes' eyes lit up and he was amazed.
Is this Professor Cat? This is what the real person looks like. So cool!
I wonder if she will be easy to pet after she turns into a cat.
"Excuse me, who are you?" Hephes came back to his senses and asked in a puzzled tone.
"Good morning, Mr. Dum," Professor McGonagall said softly.
"You should have received the owl letter. I am Minerva McGonagall, a teacher at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry."
"Welcome, please come in." Hephis immediately and politely invited Professor McGonagall into the house.
"My pleasure."
"please sit down."
