Chapter 121 Falling apart
Dr. Ethan stood in the top floor conference room of Stark Industries, overlooking the bustling night scene of New York City through the French windows. On the conference table, documents piled up like a mountain, and the display screen flashed complex new energy solutions. Tony Stark sat at the other end of the table, playing with a pen in his hand, with a hint of impatience on his face.
"Ethan, do you know how unrealistic this plan is?" Tony finally broke the silence, with obvious doubt in his tone.
Ethan frowned, rested his hands on the table, and leaned forward slightly: "Tony, this is not unrealistic, but a reality we must face. The earth's resources are running out. We need to find a sustainable new energy source instead of continuing to rely on traditional energy sources that pollute the environment."
Tony sneered and shook his head. "You are too idealistic, Ethan. You always think about saving the world, but the reality is that we need to make a profit and need the support of investors. Your plan is too risky, and no one will be willing to invest in it."
Ethan's eyes became sharp, he stood up straight, and his voice became louder: "Tony, this is not just about money. This is about our future, about the survival of our next generation. Can't you see it?"
Tony stood up, walked to the window, and turned his back to Ethan: "Of course I can see it, but I also see the cruelty of reality. Do you know how many employees our company has and how many families depend on us? We can't take this risk."
Ethan took a deep breath, his chest rising and falling slightly, as if he was trying to suppress the surging anger in his heart. He clenched his fists tightly and said through gritted teeth: "So, you would rather continue on this dead end than try to change?" His voice was low and full of majesty, as if every word carried a heavy weight.
Ethan's eyes were firm and sharp, like a burning flame, staring straight at the other person. His eyes revealed an unshakable determination and belief, which shocked people. He seemed to be telling the other person in this way that no matter what difficulties and obstacles he faced, he would not easily give up his goal.
Tony turned around, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes: "Ethan, I know you are right, but I can't take this risk. I have a responsibility to protect this company and these employees."
Ethan felt powerless. He knew Tony's concerns, but he couldn't accept such a compromise. His voice became low and firm: "Tony, I have made up my mind. If you don't support this plan, I will do it myself."
Tony's expression suddenly changed: "Are you threatening me?"
Ethan shook his head. “This is not a threat, but my determination. I can’t waste any more time arguing here. I will return to my hometown of Gemilla. The people there need me, and I will realize my plan there.”
Tony was silent for a moment, and finally sighed: "Okay, Ethan, if this is your decision, I won't stop you. But you have to know that this road is difficult."
Ethan nodded, with a firm light in his eyes: “I know, but this is the path I must take.”
Ethan turned and left the meeting room, leaving Tony standing alone in front of the window, silent.
A few days later, Ethan returned to his hometown, Gemil. This small town was once devastated by war, but now Ethan is determined to bring new hope here.
In a simple laboratory in Gemilla, Ethan and his assistant Emily are working hard. Emily is a young scientist who used to work in Ethan's team and has full confidence in his plan.
"Dr. Ethan, the design of this reactor looks promising, but we still need more funds and equipment." Emily looked up and wiped the sweat from her forehead.
Ethan nodded. "I know, Emily, but we can't give up. We've come so far, we can't stop here."
Emily's eyes flashed with worry: "But, Dr. Ethan, our resources are really limited. Without Tony's support, it will be difficult for us to continue."
Ethan pondered for a moment, then said firmly: "We will find a way. The people of Gemilla need us, and we can't let them down."
At this moment, the door of the laboratory was pushed open, and a middle-aged man walked in. He was the mayor of Gemilla, named Carl.
"Dr. Ethan, Emily, I have good news." Carl's face was filled with excitement.
Ethan and Emily looked up at the same time, their eyes full of anticipation.
"We have found some companies willing to invest, and they are very interested in your new energy plans," said Carl.
There was a flash of surprise in Ethan's eyes: "Really? That's great!"
Carl nodded: "Yes, they are willing to provide funds and equipment to help you complete this project."
Emily excitedly held Ethan's hand: "Dr. Ethan, we have hope!"
Ethan felt relieved. He knew this was just the beginning, but he firmly believed that as long as they persisted, they would succeed.
A few months later, Gemilla's laboratory was full of busy figures. Ethan and Emily led the team to work day and night. The design of the reactor was constantly optimized, and the experiment made significant progress.
At night, the light in the laboratory shines through the window onto the lawn outside, making it particularly bright. Ethan stands there quietly, looking into the distance with focused eyes. His mood is like a colorful painting, with hope and determination intertwined, making him feel extremely fulfilled.
Ethan's eyes pierced through the darkness and the clouds, as if he could see the endless universe. He thought about the goals he pursued, and those dreams that once seemed unattainable have now become a reality. He knew that all this was achieved through unremitting efforts and persistence.
At this moment, a strong belief surged in his heart: anything is possible as long as there is enough courage to pursue it. This belief is like a burning flame, illuminating his way forward. It made him understand that even if he encountered difficulties and setbacks, he should not give up easily. Because only after experiencing wind and rain can he see the rainbow; only by perseverance can he achieve glory.
Ethan took a deep breath and felt the fresh night air. He told himself that no matter what challenges he would encounter in the future, he would face them without fear, because he believed that as long as he maintained a positive and optimistic attitude, he would be able to overcome difficulties and move towards the other side of success.
In this quiet night, Ethan's inner world is filled with hope and determination. He knows that this will be a new starting point, a beginning of pursuing dreams and realizing the value of life. And he will use his actions to prove that as long as you have faith in your heart, you can create miracles.
"Dr. Ethan." Emily's voice came from behind.
Ethan turned around and looked at her with a smile: “Emily, why haven’t you rested yet?”
Emily walked up to him, her eyes revealing a trace of worry and uneasiness, and whispered, "I wonder, can we really succeed?" Her voice was low and gentle, as if she was asking an unsolvable puzzle. She looked into the distance, as if she wanted to find the answer from the endless sky, but in the end she could only shake her head helplessly. Her hands unconsciously clenched the corners of her clothes, showing her inner tension and worry.
Ethan's eyes flashed with determination: "We will succeed, Emily. As long as we don't give up, we will achieve our goal."
Emily nodded, her eyes full of confidence: "I believe you, Dr. Ethan."
As time went by, Ethan and his team finally achieved victory. The reactor was successfully operated, and the new energy plan made a breakthrough.
The people of Gemilla cheered, they knew that this was not only Ethan's victory, but also their victory.
On the night of celebration, Ethan stood on the stage, facing the cheering crowd, his heart filled with gratitude and pride.
"Thank you all for your support and trust." Ethan's voice echoed in the night sky. "This is our victory, and it is Gemilla's victory. We have proved that as long as we have faith and persistence, we can create miracles."
The crowd erupted in thunderous applause, and Emily stood on the stage with tears in her eyes.
The sky of New York City was dotted with colorful neon lights. Ethan Blake stood in the top floor conference room of Stark Tower, overlooking the city that never sleeps through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows. His eyes passed through the busy streets, but his heart was filled with heavy worries.
"Ethan, what do you want to talk to me about?" Tony Stark's voice came from behind, interrupting Ethan's thoughts.
Ethan turned around and saw Tony, dressed in casual clothes, holding a glass of red wine, looking calm.
"Tony, I need to talk to you about your new energy plan." Ethan said bluntly.
Tony raised an eyebrow, walked to the conference table and sat down, motioning Ethan to sit down as well. "Go ahead, I'm all ears."
Ethan took a deep breath and sat opposite Tony. "Tony, I know you have invested a lot of effort in the research of new energy, but have you ever considered the risks it may bring?"
Tony chuckled and put down his glass. "Ethan, you know I'm always cautious. New energy is the future, and we can't stand still because we're worried about the risks."
Ethan's face turned serious. "Tony, I'm not against progress, but I've seen wars started because of energy interests. I lost family members, and I don't want to see such tragedies happen again."
Tony's smile faded and his eyes turned cold. "Ethan, I understand your pain, but you can't stop future progress because of past pain. We need this new energy, it can change the world."
"Change the world? Or destroy the world?" Ethan's voice became a little louder, and he was very excited. "Do you know how powerful this new energy is? If it falls into the hands of criminals, how much damage will it cause?"
Tony stood up and walked to the window, his back facing Ethan. "Ethan, you are too pessimistic. We can't back down because of fear. You should trust me, I will make sure it is safe."
"Believe you?" Ethan also stood up and walked behind Tony. "Tony, it's not that I don't believe you, but can you guarantee that everyone is as responsible as you are? Can you guarantee that no one in this world will use this to do bad things?"
Tony was silent for a moment, then turned to face Ethan, his eyes flashing with mixed emotions. "Ethan, I know what you're worried about. But we can't give up the opportunity now because we're afraid of future possibilities. We can put in place stricter security measures to ensure it won't be abused."
Ethan shook his head, his eyes full of pain and helplessness. "Tony, I know you have your ideals and ambitions, but I really hope you can postpone this plan until we have a complete safety plan."
Tony sighed, walked back to the conference table, picked up his glass and drank it all. "Ethan, I will consider your suggestion, but I can't promise anything. This is a complicated issue, and it's not something that can be easily solved by the two of us."
Just then, the door of the conference room was pushed open, and Pepper Potts walked in with a hint of anxiety on her face. "Tony, there is a group of protesters outside who are against your new energy plan."
Tony frowned and put his glass down. "Protesters? How did they know?"
Pepper shook her head. "I don't know, but they are very emotional, and several of them have tried to rush into the building."
Ethan's expression became more serious. "Tony, this is what I'm worried about. People are full of fear and suspicion about this new energy plan. If you continue to push forward, it may cause a greater conflict."
