The End of the World: Chaos

Chapter 417 Ruthless Dispute

The second generation of Baron Zemo was tied to a thick pillar, his face was pale, and his eyes were filled with fear and despair, which reflected the insignificance and powerlessness of his noble family. He thought he could be safe in the game of power, but he never expected to be involved in this bloody and ruthless dispute.

"I... I still have money!" Zemo calmed down with difficulty, shook his head quickly, and panic surged in his heart like a wave. "As long as you are willing to give me a way out, I can give you all the wealth of my family!"

The Red Skull smiled slightly, the coldness on his lips was even colder than a venomous snake's smile, revealing ruthless mockery: "Wealth? In my eyes, it's nothing more than a pile of meaningless metal. What you can offer is far from enough to arouse my interest." His eyes were like knives, firmly locking onto Zemo, leaving no room for escape.

"What do you want? I can help you! My family's power will definitely be of use to you!" Zemo's voice became more and more rapid, his heart was beating like thunder, but he still couldn't calm down, "If you let me live, I am willing to provide you with information and make allies!"

"What is intelligence? It's just a piece of empty words, a drop in the ocean." The Red Skull waved his hand contemptuously, his eyes flickering, as if mocking him, "How much do you think those so-called connections and interests mean to me? Baron Zemo, you are too naive."

Zemo was filled with despair. He didn't know how to convince this ruthless enemy. The coldness in his heart was getting closer and closer. He changed his mind and decided to change his strategy. He tried calmly: "I know what you are thinking. You must want to expand your power. I can help you contact other nobles in exchange for more benefits!"

"Nobles?" The Red Skull sneered contemptuously, and the cold smile on the corners of his mouth became more and more obvious. "Those who indulge in luxury and pleasure can't give me real power at all. Zemo, what value do you think your insignificant existence can bring to me?" He looked down on him, his eyes full of contempt.

"I... I will do my best!" Zemo tried desperately to defend himself, anxious, "With my strength, I will never let you down! I still have a lot of secrets for you to know. I know everything about the secret fights between the nobles!"

"Secret? What does it matter?" Red Skull raised his eyebrows and looked at Zemo like a hawk, as if weighing the value of this vague thing.

"If you release me, I can share with you the grudge between Duke Treno and Baron Ranal. They may be brewing a conflict because of a deal!" Zemo's voice gradually became firm, with secret expectations in his heart, and he threw out his last straw with trepidation.

"Duke Treno and Baron Ranal?" The Red Skull murmured, as if he was thinking. There was a hint of interest in his eyes, but he did not trust them completely. His expression was still serious. "If what you said is true, I may be able to spare your life."

"I swear, I'm not lying! I can describe for you the flaws in their friendship and cooperation!" Zemo secretly breathed a sigh of relief, his tone became more urgent, as if he saw a glimmer of hope.

"Your hope is worthless." The Red Skull responded coldly, his eyes like a knife, piercing Zemo's heart. "However, I am willing to consider sparing your life. If you can implement my plan properly, perhaps I can see the real results, and then I may give you more opportunities."

Zemo was stunned, and could hardly believe his ears. This miraculous turn of events gave him a glimmer of hope. He tried to calm himself down: "I will try my best and live up to your trust!"

"However," the Red Skull's tone suddenly changed like a storm, his eyes were as sharp as a blade, piercing Zemo, "I will never tolerate any failure. If you hide the truth and deceive me, I will let you know what pain is."

"I would never dare!" Zemo said hastily, but he was secretly trembling in his heart and sweating profusely.

"Back off, Zemo." Red Skull waved his hand and ordered, "But before you leave, I have one more request."

"What request?" Zemo was shocked, realizing that the situation was not over yet.

"In the coming days, all your communications and itineraries with me must be reported to me." The Red Skull's voice was as low as thunder, and his eyes were extremely sharp. "I will send people to secretly monitor your movements. If you betray me, you will bear the consequences yourself."

"I understand." Zemo was nervous, but he had to obey. Facing the power of the Red Skull, he had no choice but to bite the bullet and agree. As the conversation progressed, he knew that he was still in danger and his life was hanging by a thread. In this vortex of power and intrigue, he was just a tiny chess piece.

The Red Skull nodded with satisfaction, thinking about the next layout in his heart. Although Baron Zemo seemed insignificant, he might become a very valuable chess piece in his hand.

"Go back," said the Red Skull, his expression gradually becoming calm, "I look forward to your coming back next time with news worthy of my attention."
