The End of the World: Chaos

Chapter 418: Sinister Smile

The second generation of Baron Zemo staggered against the wall, with several shocking wounds on his face, his brows furrowed, and a hint of madness and despair flashing in his eyes. The Red Skull stood in front of him, his face grim, as if he had no mercy on the tragic scene in front of him. The flickering candlelight reflected Zemo's desperate and angry face, as well as the Red Skull's sinister smile.

"My lord, do you really believe that I will surrender to you?" Zemo supported his injured body. Although his voice was low, it was mixed with flames of anger.

The Red Skull's mouth curled up slightly, and his cold smile was like winter frost. "Who said I would forgive you? I just want to give you a decent death."

"You will be disappointed no matter what," Zemo gnashed his teeth, anger filling his heart, "I will never compromise!"

The Red Skull's gaze was like a knife, piercing straight into Zemo's heart, "In that case, let's see if you can still maintain your courage at the moment of despair."

He slowly took a step closer, and a heavy sense of oppression surged over him. The fear deep in Zemo's heart suddenly grew stubbornly, and he could hardly breathe. The Red Skull continued, "As long as you tell me the information you know honestly, I will let you die peacefully. Otherwise, I will let you suffer endless pain."

"You really overestimate yourself!" Zemo gritted his teeth, desperately suppressing the fear in his heart that wanted to escape, "Red Skull, what means do you think you can use to force me to reveal any information?"

"Zemo, don't persist." The Red Skull stared at him coldly, with a cold light flashing in his eyes. "How powerful do you think you are? It's just a flash in the pan. I'm just a judge in front of you!"

Although Zemo was afraid of the Red Skull's insidious methods, the desire to resist was nurtured in his heart, making him do his best not to give in. "Cruel confession for no reason, I have no grudge against you, why do this?"

"A heartless person cannot understand the beauty of emotions." The Red Skull rolled his eyes and approached more aggressively. The knife in his hand was shining coldly, reflecting a gloomy luster in the candlelight. "I only know how to trade and pursue profit. You must speak up, otherwise, you will bear the consequences."

Fear swept over him again, and Zemo forced himself to stay calm. "I will never tell you anything!"

The Red Skull looked at him with contempt, a playful smile on his face, as if he was looking at a ridiculous toy. "In that case, I will give you time to think." His voice was as cold as ice, "But I will break your pride and make you understand that surrender is your only choice."

He turned around and walked to the corner. The knife in his hand cut through several ropes. Then there was a sharp sound of "tsk tsk", blood splattered, and the sound of pain became more piercing. Zemo frowned slightly, and the fear in his heart intensified again. "What do you want to force me to say?"

"Oh, Zemo, don't pretend that you are still proud." The Red Skull looked back, his cold smile becoming more and more obvious. "I know what you are worried about. What I offer is just the best option I can think of for you."

"You can't understand what's in my heart at all!" Zemo retorted angrily, with cold sweat flowing down his forehead like a rainy night.

"Then tell me, what exactly do you desire?" The Red Skull walked slowly, but approached step by step, his voice low and unquestionable, "I can give you anything you need, except your life."

In the struggle between despair and resistance, Zemo knew deep down that there was no way out. Anger and fear intertwined, tearing at his heart like a whirlpool. "What do you think you can use to force me? Even if I die, I will not give in!"

"Really?" The Red Skull's eyes were as hot as a flame, the tip of the knife gently touched Zemo's cheek, and his tone was teasing, "Well, let's see how long you can hold on."

The tip of the knife slowly rose, and the gloomy smile on the Red Skull's face became more and more apparent. At this moment, Zemo felt the fear from the abyss, as if he had reached a desperate situation.

"You will regret this, Red Skull!" Zemo gritted his teeth, but his heart was surging and he wavered again.

The Red Skull chuckled, as if listening to a joke. "I don't need your teachings. I'm tired of hearing worldly sounds. Although you are smart, you seem so stupid in front of me."

During the brief silence, the struggle in Zemo's heart intensified, and his anger was eventually replaced by despair. Guilt and fear came one after another, causing him to tremble slightly.

"I'll tell you some secrets..." Zemo finally lowered his head and said reluctantly. Although his voice was trembling, there was a hint of submission.

This sentence suddenly broke the Red Skull's silence, and a satisfied smile appeared on the corner of his mouth, as if he had expected it. "Very good, Zemo." He smiled coldly, "Please start talking."

"I know... I know the information you want." Zemo closed his eyes, his heart dead, "I will tell you everything."

The Red Skull listened quietly, his eyes gleaming with excitement, but he knew in his heart that he was just examining a soul that was about to despair.

Even so, Zemo's despair grew, and a strong sense of regret flooded in. "I'm such a fool," he whispered helplessly, casting a desperate look at the Red Skull.
