Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble
Chapter 295 Victim
Li Taojun didn't know how to react to the hug. His arms lay stiffly at his sides.
He looked down and saw her burying her head in his chest. He blinked and rubbed his eyes, wondering if he had just seen something.
"Snow Moon——"
"I've always wondered what it would be like to be with my biological parents." Li Xueyue muttered to her clothes. She stepped back a little and tilted her head.
"Aren't you?" she asked.
King Li Tao wished she would stop looking at him with those eyes. Her pupils were sharp and clear, like a reflecting pond, which seemed shallow at first glance, but contained the deepest depth.
King Li Tao trembled and hugged her, surprising them both. He put a hand behind her head and hugged her tightly, hoping that this moment would not be so sudden.
Li Xueyue's expression softened a little. How strange. He hugged her as if this was his life.
She could feel the trembling of his fingertips as his upper body bent to her shape. It was a shame that she had to do this.
"Xueyue, I want you to know that although your mother has never loved you well, I will - ah!"
Li Daojun felt a sharp pain in his knee and choked. He tried to resist, but she held him tightly in her arms.
"W-what did you-!" He was cut off by her stabbing the knife deep into his back.
Lord Li Taojun reacted violently, struggling in her arms, and pushed her back in an instant.
Li Xueyue had no time to waste. The only way she could subdue this man was to catch him off guard.
The knife was already stuck in my back, and every movement caused pain.
Li Xueyue pulled out another knife tied to her thigh, shook her wrist, and wanted to cut off King Li Tao's neck.
But he was faster than her. He angrily grabbed her wrist and then her throat.
"How dare you!" Li Daojun roared, and held her weak little wrist even tighter. He held it so tightly that he wanted to crush it on the spot.
When his fingers penetrated deeply into Li Xueyue's throat, Li Xueyue's eyes widened in horror.
She screamed in pain as he grabbed her by the neck, and to her horror he began to lift her up, just as Wen Jinkai had done to Li Minghua.
"Your death will be the most satisfying thing for them all!" Li Taojun was so angry that she wanted to push her daughter to the ground.
He regretted not being armed, but she certainly didn't.
King Li Tao watched with satisfaction as she writhed and struggled in his unbearable grip. He released her wrists and decided to strangle her neck with both hands. That would kill her faster.
If he was going to bleed to death, at least they would die together. "Let us go to hell together as father and daughter," he said through gritted teeth.
With his hands around her neck, dark spots began to swim in Li Xueyue's vision. She struggled with him, kicking and twisting. She clawed at his arms, digging her fingers deep into them, but to no avail.
Li Taojungong was bigger and stronger than she was. Eventually, her body went limp and her head fell forward.
"Stinky boy." King Li Tao roared and pulled her closer to make sure she was really dead. Without warning, she shook her wrist and a sharp object flew out of her sleeve.
" MY EYES! " he screamed in agony, dropping her to cover his eyes.
His hands shook as he tried to find the object lodged in his right eye. He was so distracted that he didn't realize he had let her go from his arms.
Li Xueyue fell to the ground, gasping for breath as she watched him struggle. He tried to soothe his eyes, but it only made things worse. He pushed the small needle deeper.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Li Xueyue reached into her pocket and pulled out a bottle of invisible liquid.
"How dare you?!" Li Daojun roared.
He stumbled forward, only to gasp in pain. As he moved, the knife had already stabbed deep into his back. Pain spread through his body. Just then, he felt the wind blown away.
Li Xueyue kicked him in the groin. He let out a cry of surprise, almost as if he was strangled. His knees buckled briefly as he clutched his precious jewels.
Now that he was distracted again, Li Xueyue knew that this was her chance. She rushed forward and tried to slit his throat. But at the last moment, he grabbed her wrist.
"You will pay for this," Li Taojun screamed, trying to crush her limp wrists.
Li Xueyue couldn't help but shudder when she saw the blood coming out of his right eye. But he had just exposed a weakness. Suddenly, she reached for the needle stuck in his right eye and pulled it out. He let out an animalistic scream, touched his eyes, and became upset again.
Li Xueyue didn’t expect things to go this far. But she did it anyway. She stabbed his other eye. Her body tensed as the needle pierced into the flesh. She let out a scream of disgust at the feeling.
"Give my regards to the King of Hell," she growled, before pouring the vial of liquid down his throat.
He rinsed his mouth and choked on an unidentifiable liquid, but was forced to swallow it.
"Y-you..." He gasped, struggling against his attacker who liked to play dirty.
Li Xueyue stumbled back. He reached out blindly to grab her, but his steps were shaky.
"What, what should I do?!" He coughed and then fell to his knees.
Li Xueyue watched him lying on the ground in horror. The needle pierced deeper into his eye, but he didn't even flinch.
Seeing him, Li Xueyue gasped with a trembling voice. What a mess. Seeing the blood splattered at the end of the white Hanfu, she couldn’t help but frowned. She was stained red.
Li Xueyue wiped the sweat from her forehead.
Finally, her adrenaline-fueled body came to terms with her actions.
She fell to the ground.
She let out a shuddering sigh. She glanced down at her hands. There was grass and blood on them. There were obvious bruises on her wrists. There was no doubt that she looked a mess.
"I can't let you talk nonsense." Li Xueyue said gritting her teeth.
She had done it. She had killed a man with her bare hands. Her eyes fell on his motionless body.
"This has to be done." Li Xueyue muttered. "I have put in so much effort for you, you can't destroy it out of malice."
Li Xueyue licked her lower lip nervously. She looked around, wondering if anyone had seen the fight.
She noticed they were too far away for anyone to hear or see anything.
When she finally calmed down, she heard festival music in the distance. Loud and unmatched. It was almost as if the song was celebrating his death.
Li Xueyue looked down at her dirty skirt. The pure white was no match for her. She was supposed to be the incarnation of heaven and spring, but her behavior was exactly the opposite.
She closed her eyes and reached out to grab the edge of her clothes.
“I need more than just brains to survive in this world,” she reminded herself.
Li Xueyue tore the hem of her skirt without hesitation. Her hands reached out to the complicated hairstyle. She inserted her fingers into her hair and fumbled around.
It's show time.
Li Chenyang thought he saw something gleaming in the distance. He squinted his eyes, blinking in confusion as something blinded him.
"What happened?"
He glanced to his left, then to his right. Everyone was distracted by the music, the dancers, or other people.
Li Chenyang glanced at the crowd and didn't see anyone suspicious.
Deep in the darkness, he saw it again. A ray of light, so small it was almost imperceptible. He thought it was his imagination.
Maybe it was the light from the lantern that made it look that way? But then the light surged forward again. Was someone signaling him?
His stomach churned uncomfortably.
He finally noticed the empty seat next to Minghua. Where was Xueyue?
Li Chenyang jumped up from his chair, attracting his father's attention.
"Chenyang, where are you going?" his father asked solemnly.
"Xueyue...she is not here." Li Chenyang responded.
"She mentioned taking a walk near the gazebo over there," the mother said, raising her chin in the direction Xue Yue had walked.
"Perfect." Li Chenyang said. "I'm going to go get some fresh air with her. It's too boring after talking to so many people."
"Bring her back when no one is paying attention. The banquet is almost over anyway." Queen Wang Qixing said.
Li Chenyang nodded stiffly. The place his mother told him was exactly where he saw the light. Was this a coincidence?
Li Chenyang said goodbye and started to walk out of the banquet hall.
Eyes followed him every step he took, but once he was distracted by the musicians and performers, Chen Yang quickened his pace. He almost hurried toward the pavilion.
He picked up a lantern hung on a small pole and carried it with him. Unexpectedly, the light slipped away from his fingertips.
Blood. There was so much of it. It was everywhere.
"Xueyue...?" Li Chenyang gasped.
He rushed forward, having already thrown the lantern aside. Through the weak light, he saw a figure on the ground. Her weak shoulders, small and trembling, were hard to ignore.
Li Xueyue was like a wounded swan, unable to fly. Her sleeves were torn in more than one place, and strands of hair stuck out in strange directions.
"Chen, Brother Chen?" Li Xueyue stuttered. She didn't expect he would see her like this.
She thought her signals would reach other members of her family and they would be shocked to see her in this state.
Since it was Chen Yang, she knew there was no need to pretend. But then he rushed forward and hugged her tightly.
"Are you injured?" Li Chenyang asked worriedly while pulling her. "Why are you on the ground? Is the blood yours? Where are you injured? Is your time coming, so..."
"I didn't mean it..." Li Xueyue whispered in a staccato voice. Her eyes widened and she hugged him tightly. "I swear, I didn't! He - he threatened to destroy me, and -"
"Oh my God." Li Chenyang muttered as he looked at the scene in front of him.
But that wasn't the issue at hand. Her panicked behavior was. He was too busy focusing his attention on her to even care what she did.
Li Chenyang pulled her closer and patted her on the top of her head. "Calm down, Xueyue, it's okay. None of this is your fault. I believe in you. I won't make the same mistake again and distrust you."
Li Chenyang's heart broke when he saw her horrified expression. Her eyes were filled with panic, and he could do nothing but try his best to comfort her. She didn't cry, but she was close to tears.
"Wha, he—"
"Shh, it's okay." Li Chenyang comforted.
Li Chenyang held her in his arms and buried her in his chest. He finally saw the lifeless body beside him.
No matter who this man is, he doesn't care. Xueyue is the victim. Not the perpetrator. Even if she kills him, it is him who provoked.
Li Chenyang held it tighter. That's right. His Xueyue just acted in self-defense. That's all. That's all. Nothing less. She would never take responsibility for this crime. Never. Unless he had something to say.
