It wasn't until the first morning when they didn't have breakfast together that Li Xueyue realized how lonely it was in the palace.

It wasn't the meals she missed, it was the time they would spend together chatting around the table. A lot had changed. And she wasn't ready to be alone.

Li Xueyue didn't want to hide in her room alone, so she visited the garden with a nervous mood.

Once again, she just took a small bite here and there. It just felt different. She didn't know why.

"What's so fun about this shabby garden?"

Li Xueyue's heart skipped a beat. She was surprised to see Wen Jinkai standing a few feet away from her. When did he get here?

"Your mother seems to be busy redecorating the dozens of gardens in the palace. The flowers that used to grow here have been cut off."

She turned her chin and looked up at him and his stormy expression. His brows were gathered together and he was looking at the garden intently.

Wen Jinkai couldn't accept her suggestion for a while, but he has accepted it.

"Let's talk about something else," he asserted.

Li Xueyue shook her head in amusement. The least he could do was to change the subject subtly.

Wen Jinkai spoke first. "As you know, the second prince is still alive and locked in the palace."

She raised her eyebrows.
