Li Xueyue boarded the carriage with the help of her brothers. She couldn't help blushing in embarrassment as they walked up the steps arguingly before finally reaching a compromise. She tried to cover her face as she walked up the steps holding one brother's hand.

As the carriage started to move, the family said goodbye to her. They decided not to say goodbye because there was no benefit in leaving.

The Li family asked her to leave with just a "goodbye".

Li Xueyue's tears, which she had been holding back, finally began to flow. She cried alone in the carriage, and the sound of the wheels turning calmed her down.

As she looked out the window, she was greeted by trees slinking by. However, that was not what caught her attention.

That was a man on horseback, he covered his mouth and ran slowly.

"Tell that stubborn commander I said hello!" he shouted.

Li Xueyue laughed in disbelief at the man's audacity. Wen Jinkai rode his horse to catch up with her carriage just to see her one last time. She shook her head at his stupidity.

She leaned out the window and shouted, "You are the most stubborn men I have ever met!"

Wen Jinkai smiled when he heard this. Even when they met for the last time, she still felt this way about him. He could only raise his hands in the air and wave.

Li Xueyue waved goodbye, knowing that this would be the last time she would see him for a while.

The next time they met... She hoped he would be married. His children would be friends with her brother's children. Maybe then the twins wouldn't hate him so much.

Li Xueyue stretched her neck out the window and saw his figure getting smaller and smaller in the distance. She continued to look out the window, as if she had memorized every feature of the capital.

Li Xueyue knew that the carriage would take some time. She was well prepared and had enough supplies to sustain a journey that exceeded her expectations. What she didn't expect was that the road was rugged and how tiring it was.

There were plenty of stops to allow everyone time to rest, eat, sleep, shower, etc. Her sleeping arrangements were pre-arranged, and the soldiers took turns guarding her at all times.

Even so, the shaking of the carriage during the journey made it impossible for her to do anything, especially to read. In the carriage, she had nothing to do.

She had difficulty sleeping during the trip. The only thing that kept her from dying of boredom was the scenery. But after looking at the same trees and sky for a while, there was nothing to keep her occupied.

"It's so boring." Li Xueyue sighed. Her shoulders became stiff from sitting upright all day. Everyone was polite and respectful to her, but no one dared to talk to her.

"At least this gives my fingers something to do," she whispered, stroking Yu Zhen's pendant with her fingers.

Despite holding the pendant in her hand, Li Xueyue felt isolated from the world. Her only companion was the black moon by the window. Sometimes, she would reach out and stroke the impatient horse.

Moreover, it rained for most of the journey, and when the angry clouds became too much, they were forced to stop in the forest to rest.

The gloomy weather made everything unbearable, especially the cold.

"It's okay," she told herself, pulling the blanket over her legs.

Li Xueyue tried not to complain. She reminded herself that everyone was in a much worse situation than she was.

But her luck took a turn for the worst. On the fifth day of the journey, the wheel of the carriage broke, and her heart sank.

Li Xueyue was lazily playing with the tassel of Yu Zhen's pendant when the carriage suddenly tilted to one side. She quickly stuffed the pendant into her pocket, and suddenly there was a soft knock on the carriage door.

"Princess Li, we apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you," a servant said as he opened the door.

“The soldiers are working hard to repair the wheel so that we can reach the nearest town and fix it,” he added.

Li Xueyue pursed her lips and nodded slowly.

The servant was very upset, having misunderstood the princess's mood. "Don't worry, Princess Li. If the soldiers are delayed too long, we can always send someone to the city to find a blacksmith."

"It's okay, don't worry." Li Xueyue said. It would be troublesome if someone ran away. What if they got lost and couldn't find their way back?

Through the window, she saw Heiyue stamping the ground hesitantly. The sudden sound of the wheel breaking must have startled him.

“I’ll go outside so it’s easier for them to adjust the steering wheel,” she added.

The servant hesitated. She didn't want the princess to get dirty on the rough terrain. Of course, there was no strict order to keep the princess in the carriage while traveling, but most young maidens hated the smell of rain.

"Princess Li, the road is still a little muddy due to yesterday's rain." The servant said with his head down.

"A little bit of dirt won't hurt anyone," Li Xueyue replied. She walked out of the carriage with the help of the servants.

Li Xueyue's body tensed a little when her boots touched the sticky ground. Her shoes left footprints on the ground. She eliminated the feeling of squirming as she walked on the soft mud.

Li Xueyue was wearing a well-fitting training robe, and everything was beautiful.

By the second day of her journey, she had given up on all the frills. No one else could see her during the entire trip. She might as well be comfortable on a tiring journey.

"You're my treat." Li Xueyue whispered as she approached Heiyue. She raised her hand, and Heiyue swallowed the sugar cube without hesitation. She secretly took some out of the supplies and stuffed them into her pocket.

Li Xueyue noticed a small bag attached to the saddle on Heiyue. She reached out to feel it. After that incident, she was settled in the stables in the capital with Zheng Leiyu and Bai Tianai. She put the money in the bag in case of any problems.

"You have performed very well along the way." Li Xueyue praised while stroking Heiyue's nightgown with her hand. Although it had not been brushed, it still retained a healthy luster, which left a deep impression on her.

"I should take good care of-" She was interrupted by a loud scream from behind her.

Li Xueyue turned around and just heard the sound of a sword being unsheathed. When she saw the cause of the commotion, the color on her face disappeared. Groups of people walked out of the dense forest, and they were fully armed. They were bandits, and their numbers were obviously greater than her followers.
