Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble

Chapter 316 What brings you happiness?

Lu Tianbi nodded slowly. "Very good, Your Highness."

"Don't, don't forget me..." Hu Dengxiao wailed. He felt like a neglected child who interrupted the adults' conversation. When Lu Tianbi smiled at him, his drooping shoulders straightened up.

"You heard the Crown Prince's voice," she said. "Gather the ministers and nobles, and I will see to it." She dropped the folded parchment to show what she was talking about.

Organizing so many people in such a short time was a tiring chore. Hu Dengxiao reluctantly accepted the task because it was his duty. Where was he when the cunning minister's son needed him?

"And." Lu Tianbi said. She turned her gaze to Yu Zhen. "Your Highness, do you remember the last time I talked to Uncle and Wuxiang?" she asked.

Yu Zhen recalled it vividly. He was in the courtyard, looking at the moon and remembering the snow and the moon.

Hu Dengxiao was about to lose his temper because he thought Lu Tianbi was discussing important matters with the prime minister's son.

"Well, Your Highness, Wu Xiang shared some interesting things with me." She said. "Uncle is about to retire, and now Wu Xiang has a child to play with-"

"I know." Yu Zhen said.

Wu Xiang had said this before. Wu Xiang would soon take over the position of prime minister from his father. It would be a smooth transition. This man had been training for the title since he could speak.

"That's it, Your Highness." Lu Tianbi said, bowing her head. Even though she had spent so many years with him, the rules of etiquette had been instilled in her.

"Oh, Your Highness." Hu Dengxiao joked. "Who is the master servant serving Xueyue?"

Lu Tianbi's attention returned to Yu Zhen. This is a good question. Who will come to participate in Xueyue?

"The head maid." Yu Zhen replied.

Lu Tianbi's eyes widened. Even Yu Zhen's mother, the queen, was not qualified to be served by a maid. The head maid in the palace was not assigned to anyone, mainly because the emperor was the one who gave the order.

Since the relationship between the emperor and his wife was strained...

Lu Tianbi shook his head and dismissed the thought from his mind.

"Your Highness, this is really good news." Lu Tianbi smiled proudly. The head maid is the best person to guide the princess.

Yu Zhen nodded silently. "You are forgiven," he said to the two men. They bowed in response and started to set off.

Yu Zhen watched Hu Dengxiao try to get close to Lu Tianbi, only to be rejected by her. He shook his head at their antics and went into his private study to finish last night's paper.

Yu Zhen finished the remaining paperwork in record time. He had already finished most of it last night anyway. He stood up from his chair, walked out the door, and walked down the hallway.

By now, Xue Yue’s morning routine should be over. She is most likely eating breakfast right now. He must see her to make sure she is happy with the new dishes.

Yu Zhen noticed the difference between Wuyi and Hanjian cuisine. Wuyi cuisine is light and simple, while Hanjian cuisine is rich in flavor, with many dishes cooked with spices. The country's soil has always been fertile enough to grow a variety of herbs, spices, and crops. As a result, the cuisine has a better flavor.

"Will this be too much for her?" he wondered aloud.

Yu Zhen was worried that she couldn't eat the new food, so he specifically told the servants to make an extra simple dish so that her stomach would be more comfortable.

When Yu Zhen walked into the corridor, he was discovered by someone - the only woman in his palace who could call him, besides Lu Tianbi.

"Your Highness...?" A timid and hesitant voice came.

Yu Zhen paused. He was in no mood to entertain her today. Xueyue’s first meal in the palace should not be eaten alone. She was used to eating with her family. It was too lonely for her to sit in that room and eat alone.

Yu Zhen had no reaction to this woman who was promoted because of her intelligence and luck. He gave this fallen noble a chance to be reborn.

"Good morning," she greeted. "Have you eaten yet, Your Highness?"

Yu Zhen turned his chin and glanced at her. Unlike most women who dressed up beautifully, her clothes were relatively simple.

There were only two barrettes in her hair. These had been given to her that morning when she had successfully deceived the court.

"Do not."

The woman's hope grew. Her eyes widened a little. Her mouth curled up into a pleasant smile. Her smile captured the hearts of most men.

They offered her a helping hand in the hope of keeping her as their mistress. But Yu Zhen was different from most men. She knew this better than anyone.

"Then, Your Highness, would you like to have dinner with me?" she asked in a hesitant voice.

"I…I've loved cooking since before my family fell. I've been honing my skills and making extra food, your highness."

Yu Zhen raised his eyebrows. He had almost forgotten how neglected the eldest daughter of the Xu family was. She didn’t look like a neglected daughter at all. Her voice was sweet and gentle, but her demeanor was full of confidence.

"Enjoy it," he replied coldly.

He walked away without saying anything else.

Xu Jiaqi was not surprised by his behavior. The prince was cold and indifferent. She opened her heart to him, hoping that he would accept it. Still, she was satisfied with the conversation. At least he called her by her name.

She smiled toward the floor and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. This was better than the last time they met, when he barely looked at her. Today, he was in a better mood.

"Progress," she reminded herself. "I have to be patient," she wondered aloud.

The crown prince might not be used to expressing his emotions. She remembered the rumors about his cold eyes.

His rare smile forces others to compete for his attention and approval. Everyone wants to be the one to make him happy. Everyone wants to appease him. Many people vie to see the tiny lift of his lips.

Xu Jiaqi vowed to see it with her own eyes.

"After all, the crown prince was the one who chose to rescue me from a generation of slavery. There must be a reason behind his intentions," she said.

Xu Jiaqi glanced outside the corridor and saw a large peach tree with flower buds growing all over its branches.

Soon, summer will arrive and flowers will bloom for her. The prince's palace is always peaceful and beautiful. Everything here is for escaping into tranquility. Not many people are lucky enough to come here and walk as they please.

"I wish I could see a smile like that," she whispered to herself. Looking down at her hands, she sighed softly.

"What would please your highness? What would please you?"
