"Maybe." Li Xueyue said finally.

In an instant, all eyes were focused on her, like a mosquito landing on flesh. It was almost ridiculous that these women tried to insult her. Her face was too thick to be scratched by their words.

"The prince drove you out of this mansion yesterday, and you were traumatized." Li Xueyue said.

She put one hand on her chest, frowned, and looked worried. Her eyes softened and she nodded as if she understood.

Li Xueyue looked at Xu Jiaqi with satisfaction as his body stiffened and his eyes suddenly raised upwards.

"No, no, the prince didn't scare me—"

Li Xueyue gave the trembling woman a gentle and sympathetic smile. "Then you were not summoned last night, worried about being discovered?" she added.

Li Xueyue's words made Xu Jiaqi's throat dry. To be honest, she was not afraid of anything.

She had been at the manor this morning, but the women didn't know that. And certainly neither did the Queen, whose eyes sharpened with newfound knowledge.

"Xu Jiaqi, what did you come here for yesterday?" the queen turned to the trembling woman and asked. Her lips curled up in encouragement.

"Your Majesty..." Xu Jiaqi's voice became smaller and smaller, and finally disappeared.

What should she say? She didn't remember much about the drunken experience that night, only that she begged for a concubine's position - a title that every palace maid wanted.

She simply glanced at the woman and shut up. Her silence must have made them nervous, because they soon spoke up.

"Of course, I think your presence is always welcome, Princess," the woman said. "It's just that... we don't want an illegitimate heir running around the estate."

Li Xueyue pursed her lips. These women were so shameless. It was broad daylight, and they were in a public area. Anyone could hear this conversation.

She just crossed her arms and remained silent. Her attention returned to the queen. Li Xueyue found that the queen had been watching her for some time.

"No need to stand here," the queen said calmly. "The sun is high, let's go to the garden and have tea."

The Queen was shocked by her refusal. "Why is that, Princess?"

Li Xueyue glanced at the palace maids. Her intention was clear. She didn't want to have dinner with these chattering women.

"Too many discussions will obscure the purpose," Li Xueyue explained.

The queen listened to her words and smiled lovingly. She knew the real reason. It was a rule of etiquette. The master did not eat with the servants. The upper class would not be responsible for the lower class either.

It seems that her prediction did not fall through. Li Xueyue behaved very dignifiedly. She spoke wisely and only responded to those she had to answer.

The queen then realized that Li Xueyue deliberately didn't talk to these bad women. She concealed her amusement. The crown princess was very bold and reminded the queen of herself when she was young.

The Queen hid her interest and turned away. She walked away knowing exactly who had won the battle.

On the surface, it seemed that the palace maids were the ones who suffered the most. But in fact, these jabs did not bother Li Xueyue at all. The Crown Princess was only responsible to her superiors.
