Chapter 227 We can get in the car
The train was moving slowly on the desolate tracks. They were in the carriage, sometimes gazing out the window at the city ruins that were still glorious after years of age, and sometimes staring at the time controller in their hands to make sure it was fully charged. They knew that every step was to find the way back home, and every moment was to escape from this planet full of unknowns and dangers.
"We have to prepare everything." Lin Nan said to Emma, "It's definitely not easy to get on the Ark spacecraft. We have to prepare for the worst."
Emma nodded, she understood that the most important thing now was to stay alert and be prepared for possible challenges. They were about to face not only leaving the planet, but also the difficulties of returning to the timeline they were familiar with.
Lin Nan and Emma arrived at the train station, eager to board the upcoming Ark spaceship. However, there was no ticket office or service staff on the platform, let alone tickets to buy.
"It seems we have to find a way to get on the bus." Lin Nan said with a frown. They knew very well that they could not get on the bus without a ticket, especially for such an important means of transportation.
Emma looked around, trying to find anything that could help them get on the train. She noticed an office at the end of the platform, maybe there were some clues or someone who could help.
"Maybe we can look for other ways to see if we can contact the person in charge of the train." Emma suggested.
Lin Nan nodded, and they walked towards the office, hoping to find clues to solve the problem there. The door of the office was locked, but through the window one could see dim lights and some office equipment inside. Lin Nan tried to knock on the door a few times, but there was no response.
"Maybe we have to solve it ourselves." Lin Nan frowned and began to look for other passengers or staff on the platform who could provide help.
Emma looked around, trying to find any possible clues. Suddenly, she found an old communication device in a corner. Although it looked like it had not been used for many years, it might be able to find some useful information.
"Lin Nan, come and take a look here." Emma carefully picked up the communication equipment and tried to adjust its switch.
Lin Nan walked over, and they worked together to try to get the communication equipment to work. Finally, after a burst of noise, the device emitted a low whistle, and then a weak signal came through.
“Listen, it seems that someone is responding.” Emma said excitedly.
Lin Nan listened attentively, then he picked up the microphone and said, "Excuse me, is this the management center of the train station? We need help and want to board the Ark spaceship that is about to take off."
After a moment, a muffled but recognizable voice came through the receiver: "Yes, I'm here. Don't you have tickets?"
"I'm sorry, we don't." Lin Nan answered honestly, "But we need to get to the Ark very urgently."
"Okay, I'll help you solve it." The voice from the management center said, "I'll send someone to pick you up."
Lin Nan and Emma breathed a sigh of relief and thanked the management center for their help. They waited on the platform, and soon a staff member came over and led them into the platform to prepare to board the Ark spacecraft that was about to depart.
Led by the staff, they walked through the empty platform and came to the boarding gate of the Ark spaceship. This spaceship looked larger and more modern, and seemed to be much more advanced than the abandoned spaceship they had seen before.
"Thank you for your help." Lin Nan expressed his gratitude to the staff.
"Have a nice trip," the staff member responded friendly, then turned and left.
Lin Nan and Emma came to the train station, facing the dilemma of having no tickets. They were eager to board the Ark spaceship, which was about to depart, but without a legal pass, this seemed an impossible task.
"We have to find a way to get on the bus." Lin Nan said with a frown. They knew very well that not having a ticket meant being denied entry.
"Maybe we could find a staff member and ask for help," Emma suggested as she began to look around for any clues that might lead to a solution to their problem.
Suddenly, a trace of determination flashed in Lin Nan's eyes. He remembered that he had read about the art of transformation in an ancient magic book. If he could transform himself into a train station staff, perhaps he could board the train smoothly.
"Wait a minute, I have an idea." Lin Nan whispered to Emma, then took her aside, away from other passengers and staff.
“What idea?” Emma asked curiously.
Lin Nan turned around to make sure no one was paying attention, then concentrated and began to chant. He waved his fingers gently, and a faint magical aura began to shroud his body. In a few moments, his form began to change, and his appearance slowly became that of an ordinary staff member - wearing a uniform and carrying a logo, looking no different from the other people on the platform.
"This... You can actually transform?" Emma looked at Lin Nan in surprise. She had never seen him use such magic before.
Lin Nan smiled and nodded, then quickly walked to the ticket office on the platform. He walked into the ticket office confidently as a staff member, showing his fictitious proof of work. The conductor took a look, then nodded politely, accepting his request without further questioning.
"Thank you." Lin Nan responded politely, and then quickly returned to Emma.
"We can get in the car now," he told Emma, who was waiting nearby.
They then stepped onto the train on the platform and passed through the ticket gate easily. They found a relatively secluded corner to sit down, and Lin Nan returned to his original appearance.
"That's a really smart idea." Emma said to Lin Nan gratefully.
"We have to find the Ark spacecraft as soon as possible." Lin Nan looked at his watch and saw that time was running out.
They rested for a while on the train, waiting for it to start. Soon, the train made a low start sound and began to move slowly. They gradually relaxed because they finally left the abandoned city and headed towards a new goal - to go to the Ark spaceship and find a way to return to the original timeline.
Lin Nan and Emma entered the train smoothly. They found a quiet corner in the carriage and sat down. The train made a low roar and started slowly. As the train left the platform, they felt a sense of relief and ease, because they finally left the shadow of the deserted city.
