Chapter 298 Nodding in Agreement
"We found more energy sources and the time controller is now fully charged." Emily reported excitedly.
Anthony nodded in approval. "Great, now we can move on to adjusting and repairing the timeline."
Lin Nan and Emily returned to the safe area with the fully charged time controller, and Anthony took over the equipment and began to check and debug it. However, Lin Nan's heart could not calm down. She knew that she had lied, but she also knew that this lie was necessary for the survival of the team and the success of the mission.
Anthony began to operate the time controller, and the whole room was filled with a tense atmosphere. Emily's eyes fell on Lin Nan from time to time, and she seemed a little uneasy. She seemed to sense Lin Nan's hidden worries.
"Lin Nan," Emily said softly, "are you okay?"
Lin Nan forced a smile and nodded. "I'm fine, just... a little worried. I hope everything goes well."
Emily nodded. Although she believed what Lin Nan said, her intuition told her that things might not be as simple as they seemed.
At this moment, Anthony suddenly frowned and stopped what he was doing. "This is not right," he said, with a hint of doubt in his eyes.
"What's wrong?" Emily asked hurriedly.
"The energy of the time controller seems to be a little unstable." Anthony said, his fingers moving quickly on the control panel, trying to find the problem. "These energy sources don't look like normal power supply."
Lin Nan's heartbeat quickened. She knew that Anthony might have discovered the problem. But she couldn't let this affect their mission. "Maybe it's because we used unconventional energy in an emergency." She tried to explain, "But this energy should be enough to support for a while."
Anthony shook his head, looking even more worried. "The problem is that this energy may not be able to support our operations for a long time. We need to find a more stable source of energy."
Emily looked at Lin Nan, her eyes full of doubt. "Lin Nan, are you sure the connector on that billboard can be charged?"
Lin Nan took a deep breath, knowing that she couldn't keep it a secret any longer. "Emily, Anthony... I have to admit that I lied." She whispered, "The connector on that billboard is actually not reliable. I only said that so that we could find a power source as soon as possible."
Emily was stunned, obviously not expecting Lin Nan to admit this. Anthony's expression also became serious. "Lin Nan, why did you do this?" he asked, with a hint of blame in his voice.
Lin Nan felt deeply guilty, but she still looked at them firmly. "I know it's risky, but we had no other choice at the time. I just hope to recharge the time controller as soon as possible to avoid more losses."
Emily sighed and walked to Lin Nan. "I understand your idea, but we must be more careful and honest. Now we need to find a truly reliable source of energy."
Anthony nodded, agreeing with Emily. "We can't take any more risks. Next, we need to plan and search carefully to ensure we find a truly safe and stable power supply."
Lin Nan felt relieved. Although her lie was exposed, she knew it was for the benefit of the entire team. In the following time, they will be more cautious and work harder to ensure that the time controller can function normally and find a way to return to the original timeline.
Although Lin Nan and Emily successfully charged the time controller, the energy supply was still unstable, which made them deeply uneasy. They knew that the small billboard was not enough to provide the power required by the time controller. Although Lin Nan's lie worked temporarily, the problem still existed.
Under Anthony's inspection, the time controller screen kept flashing warning messages, indicating insufficient energy, which made the atmosphere of the entire team even more tense.
"We need more power, not just temporary charging." Anthony said seriously, with deep worry in his eyes. "If we can't find a reliable energy source, the time controller may fail at any time."
Lin Nan knew the severity of the situation, but she was still determined to find a solution. She thought about other large power facilities that might exist in the city, and several possible locations emerged in her mind.
"Maybe we can go to the main power station in the east of the city. The facilities there are larger and may have the energy we need." Lin Nan suggested, with a hint of hope in her voice.
There was chaos and panic. People were running, but many did not escape.”
Emily and Lin Nan looked at each other and realized that what Martha described was the disaster they had experienced.
"We need to find a stable energy source to charge it." Emily explained, "The time controller needs enough power to operate, otherwise we may not be able to prevent this disaster."
Martha frowned, thought for a moment, then nodded. "I see. Maybe you could try going to the power company downtown. There's a large backup generator there that might work."
"The power company in the city center?" Lin Nan repeated, hope igniting in his heart.
"Yes, although it has been damaged, the generator may still be usable," Martha said, "but you have to be careful, it's very dangerous there now."
"Thank you, Martha," Emily said sincerely, "the information you provided is very important to us."
Martha nodded, looking a little tired. "If you really can prevent this disaster, then go ahead and try. I hope you can succeed."
After leaving Martha's house, Lin Nan and Emily decided to go to the power company in the city center immediately. They knew that this action was full of dangers, but it might also be their only chance.
"We must succeed." Lin Nan said firmly, and Emily nodded in agreement.
They headed toward the city center, carefully avoiding rubble and ruins along the way. Although the environment was still dangerous, they were full of hope. As they approached the power company, the surrounding buildings looked more dilapidated and unstable.
Finally, they arrived in front of the power company. The gate had collapsed and the interior was in chaos, but they could see the large backup generator standing quietly in the ruins.
"That's it," Emily said, with a determined gleam in her eyes.
Lin Nan and Emily acted quickly, checking the status of the generator, connecting the cables and debugging. As the generator started, a low hum sounded, and the current was transmitted through the cables to the time controller, and the screen showed a stable power reading.
