Hogwarts Lion Girl
Chapter 20 Branching
Professor McGonagall first told the freshmen some precautions, and then asked everyone to line up in a long line and follow her into the hall.
The first thing that catches your eye is the countless slender candles suspended in the air, like stars in the night sky, they emit warm light.
The high ceiling is painted with stars and floating clouds, making it almost impossible to tell where the boundaries are, as if you are in the boundless starry sky.
Four huge long tables were arranged in the center of the auditorium, surrounded by students wearing different colored school uniforms.
Professor McGonagall walked slowly and steadily, and finally put down the famous Hogwarts Sorting Hat on a small stool in front of the freshmen.
The warm light of the candle gently caressed the worn edge of the hat. Professor McGonagall cleared her throat and began to read out the names of the new students one by one. The children's whispers of expectation and nervousness rang out in the quiet hall.
The first person to be called was a very thin, gray-haired boy. He swallowed and walked to the front nervously.
The boy put on the Sorting Hat, which covered his eyes. For a moment, the whole hall fell into silence, and all eyes were focused on his young figure, waiting for the Sorting Hat to make its decision.
Salina's eyes scanned the teaching staff, matching each professor with the description in her memory.
Suddenly, Salina noticed that there was an empty seat in the teacher's seat. Her intuition told her that it should be Professor Snape's seat.
Thinking of poor Harry and Ron, Salina could only silently wish them well.
The Sorting was soon Ginny's turn, and as soon as the hat touched the little girl, it shouted, "Gryffindor!"
Cheers came from the long golden and red table, and the loudest cheers came from the Weasley twins.
This made Ginny's face turn red, and she trotted to sit next to Percy.
Compared to the other brothers in Hogwarts at this time, Percy was obviously the most reliable one, at least he wouldn't make her feel too embarrassed.
When it was Sharina's turn, the Sorting Hat seemed a little hesitant. "Well, you are proud, you pursue glory, you are smart, you like to study, you are kind and brave... You are excellent. Let me think, well, do you want to go to Gryffindor? Then... As you wish, Gryffindor!"
Cheers were heard from the long table again, and Salina was pulled to sit next to Ginny.
After the branching is over, there will be a grand welcome dinner.
Many foods appeared out of thin air on the long table. Brightly colored fruits dotted the table like gems. Various meat dishes exuded enchanting aromas. They were freshly baked in a magical way, filling the entire auditorium with intoxicating fragrance.
The freshmen's eyes widened unconsciously, and they couldn't wait to enjoy the delicacy.
Holding the silver spoon, Salina took a sip of the pumpkin soup in front of her. The warm and delicious taste instantly filled her mouth.
The laughter and conversation of the students echoed between the arched ceiling above the auditorium, and the golden plates and goblets sparkled and reflected each other in the light, tinting everything around with a golden halo.
During this time, Salina noticed that Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall suddenly left in a hurry, probably because of Harry and Ron's car accident.
After the dinner, Percy, who was a prefect, led the Gryffindor freshmen to their dormitory in the tower.
During this time, Salina noticed a girl with thick and fluffy brown hair asking the twins something, and she thought it should be Hermione.
When Hermione heard the twins exaggeratingly describing how cool the flying cars were, her face turned ugly. Apparently, she also thought that this was not a good idea.
Harry and Ron must be in trouble, maybe they will be expelled from school.
While everyone was discussing intensely, the door of the lounge opened.
Harry and Ron walked in, looking as stiff as eggplants hit by frost. Hermione hurried over and asked about their situation with concern.
"How could you do such a dangerous thing? What if something goes wrong?" Hermione's voice was urgent and serious.
Harry shook his head and tried to explain, "We were stopped outside platform nine and three-quarters. We were within the time limit, but we crashed into the wall. Hedwig was frightened, and her scream attracted the attention of everyone around her."
Hermione frowned, "Then you shouldn't have driven here. You could have stayed where you are and waited for Uncle Arthur and Aunt Molly."
Ron shrugged. "I didn't think so much at the time. Besides, if we couldn't get through, then obviously Mom and Dad wouldn't be able to get through either."
Fred came over and asked, "What happened next? How did you land?"
George also asked curiously: "Where did you park Dad's car?"
Harry and Ron looked at each other and swallowed at the same time.
Ron stammered, "The car... the car ran away by itself and rushed into the Forbidden Forest in an instant."
Ginny covered her mouth in surprise, "What?! Dad loves that car."
Fred and George said in unison, "You're done, stupid Ron."
Harry explained: "We were about to land and the car lost control and we crashed into the Whomping Willow."
Hermione shouted with a headache: "You also hurt the Whomping Willow?! It's a very precious magical plant."
Ron tried to retort, "It was that tree that nearly killed us both, and it broke my wand."
Looking at Ron's wand which was only connected by a few pieces of wood, everyone could only express their condolences for him.
Just then, a thin, gray-haired boy holding a Muggle camera tried to join the conversation.
"Hello, haha... Harry, my name is Colin Creevey." Colin said timidly with rapid breathing, "Can I take a picture of you?"
He held the camera and looked at Harry expectantly.
"Um... now? But... okay."
After a burst of dazzling flashes, Colin left with the camera in his arms, satisfied.
Harry and Ron's stomachs rumbled at the same time, reminding them that they had not eaten well all day.
Fred and George looked at each other, waved their wands, and quickly took out a tray full of food. The rich food immediately made Harry and Ron's eyes light up.
Fred and George acted like heroes, placing the food in front of the two hungry men.
Ron asked vaguely while gnawing on a chicken drumstick, "Where did you get it?"
Fred smiled and said, "Well, because we found the kitchen."
"We specifically told the house-elves who were preparing the food inside to leave a portion for the two of you," George explained.
Ron's eyes lit up, "Kitchen?!"
