Hogwarts Lion Girl
Chapter 21: First Morning at Hogwarts
The girls had already decided to leave the tiredness of the day to the warm dormitory and soft beds, and went to bed quickly after washing up.
Salina and Ginny lived in the same dormitory. Hermione winked at them and left with her roommate.
Along the walls stood five four-poster beds upholstered in red velvet, each of the paintings hanging above the beds looking different.
The curtains of the four-poster bed sway gently in the breeze, like breathable clouds, giving each girl a private and warm little world.
Next to each bed are several tall and narrow windows, which are the windows that connect the room to the outside world. Through the window screens, one can get a glimpse of the changes in the sky and the tranquility of the night.
Every detail in this round room exudes the tranquility and mystery unique to the magic academy.
……
The early morning sun shines through the tall windows, filling the auditorium with a golden glow.
Salina and Ginny walked into the hall and saw Harry, Ron and Hermione who were already sitting at the Gryffindor table.
Ron saw Hermione writing something as if she was alone, and he looked a little surprised, as if he couldn't understand why this female classmate, who was usually known for her wisdom, was so focused on the words on the parchment today.
The parchment beside Hermione was gently folded by her and placed neatly on the table.
She looked around and saw that Salina and Ginny had also arrived, so she smiled and nodded slightly to the two people on the other side of the long table as a greeting.
Salina and Ginny were walking slowly in the morning light. "Good morning!" Ginny greeted her friends with a smile, her face glowing with the excitement of getting up early.
Salina also felt a little happy about waking up in the morning. "Good morning, everyone," she said softly, picking up a piece of bread.
This simple greeting is like the morning light shining through the window, blending into the early morning warmly and peacefully.
Salina and Ginny walked over and sat down opposite the three people. A wide variety of breakfast covered the entire table.
Rows of ceramic bowls are filled with steaming hot porridge of various kinds, and each bowl of porridge exudes an enticing aroma.
Next to it are piles of pickled herrings covering the table. They are rich in color and have a light salty aroma, making them so mouth-watering.
The bread slices piled up like a small mountain range from thin to thick, from original flavor to frankincense, for you to choose from to satisfy your different taste buds.
Finally, the dishes of neatly arranged eggs and bacon are indispensable.
The eggs are tender and delicious, paired with the fragrant bacon, it is one of the classic Hogwarts breakfasts that makes people want to feast on it.
During the meal, Ron couldn't help but whisper something in Harry's ear, and then they both turned their eyes to Hermione, seeming to be very surprised by what she was writing.
"Hermione, you're not writing an article condemning us, are you?" Ron asked tentatively.
"I think you misunderstood." Hermione said slowly, "I just took this opportunity to sort out the key points and difficulties of this year's study so that we can better prepare for the final exam."
Hearing this, Ron raised his shoulders and exclaimed exaggeratedly: "School has just started, and you are already making plans for the end of the semester?" Harry next to him also had an expression of confusion on his face.
Just as Harry and Ron were about to express more opinions on Hermione's plan, a commotion suddenly sounded in the space above their heads, loud and noisy.
The two's attention was immediately drawn to the open space above their heads. There seemed to be countless voices echoing each other, shuttling between the towering domes and complex arcades, creating a chaotic and vibrant atmosphere.
"Look!" Ginny stretched her neck and pointed upwards in surprise, "That's--" Her voice stopped abruptly.
Hundreds of owls swarmed in and circled in the auditorium, their sharp cries disturbing the tranquility of the early morning.
Some of them landed lightly on the students' shoulders, while others dropped letters and packages from mid-air.
The big grey creature that fell into Hermione's pot had obviously lost its way in the panic. Its feathers and milk were a mess, soaking Hermione's robes, and its wings were flapping violently because of its struggle.
Ron took a look and quickly recognized the owl with Ginny. It was Errol who belonged to their family.
"Errol!" Ron shouted, reaching out and grabbing the owl's claws quickly and decisively. The owl's wings struggled in his hands, raising more wet feathers.
In the chaos, the surrounding students either watched in surprise or lent a hand, and some students who knew about birds also provided first aid advice. After some effort, Hermione, Harry and Ron hurriedly rescued the unfortunate owl from the pot.
The owl, obviously frightened, lay limply on the table, shaking its head weakly. Its feathers were soaked and stuck to its body, and the water droplets on it reflected the morning light shining through the window, sparkling.
The unfortunate bird had recovered some strength with much help, but it would obviously take some time for it to fully recover. Its claws, which were usually used to deliver family news or urgent letters, were now tightly grasping an envelope, which had been wet with milk from the kettle, and the originally bright red envelope had become a little dull.
At this moment, a brave Gryffindor freshman came over with a curious look on his face, staring at the wet red envelope. His curiosity prompted him to ask, "What is this?"
Hermione's eyebrows knitted together slightly, and her voice was clear and a little foreboding: "It was... a Howler Letter."
"Howler?" the freshman repeated, apparently not realizing what that meant.
A Howler is a special letter used in the wizarding world to convey extreme dissatisfaction or anger.
When the envelope is opened, the letter "roars" the sender's words at an extremely loud volume, often causing great psychological pressure on the recipient, or even public embarrassment.
Ron and Ginny knew very well that this was not a good sign.
Ron's fingers trembled slightly, and his eyes were full of hesitation and fear.
Neville beside him also felt the tense atmosphere, but he mustered up his courage and whispered to Ron: "Maybe, Ron, maybe...you have to face it now, otherwise the consequences will be serious."
Taking a deep breath, Ron slowly stretched out his hand, and under the gazes of everyone around him, his fingers finally touched the wet envelope.
The envelope seemed even more fragile in his trembling grip. At this moment, he hurriedly but firmly tore open the seal of the envelope, as if tearing open the silence of time.
Bang! A loud noise instantly broke the morning silence, followed by Mrs. Weasley's voice sweeping across the hall like a storm.
