Hogwarts Lion Girl
Chapter 35 The Petrified Cat
Salina and the others all stopped immediately, followed Hermione's guidance, and approached the wall cautiously.
The flickering flames of the torches cast light onto the wall, and each word looked terrifyingly bright red as if it were made up of red blood.
Harry was the first to approach the wall, his eyes fixed on the words, his expression shocked.
"The Chamber of Secrets has been opened. Those who are enemies of the heir, be alert." Hermione whispered softly. Her heart suddenly twitched and there seemed to be a depressing atmosphere in the air.
Below the wall, there were some dried bloodstains on the ground. The color of the bloodstains had become darker, but they were still clearly visible.
"What is that?" Hermione held Serena's hand to steady herself, and pointed with her other hand at a blurry black shadow under the slogan.
They approached the wall more and more cautiously, taking every step very carefully.
A large puddle of water on the ground forced them to be more careful, fearing that they would slip. Harry almost lost his balance, but he quickly adjusted his steps and stabilized his body.
The next second, when Harry's eyes finally caught the true face of the shadow, he almost thought his heart would stop beating at that moment. Almost out of instinct, he jumped back in horror, his feet stepped on the water, splashing a piece of water, and the water flashed faintly under the light.
"Mrs. Norris!"
Hermione's heartbeat suddenly accelerated, her breathing became heavy and rapid, and her voice trembled with fear, "What...what is going on?"
Even though Salina knew the direction of the plot in advance, when she saw Mrs. Loris hanging on the wall, she still felt a surge of horror in her heart.
Mrs. Norris's body was suspended like a gloomy ancient mummy, its tail hanging unnaturally on the torch holder, and its body was in an unsettling state of stiffness, like a board forgotten by time, without a trace of life.
His eyes were wide open, as if telling an unfinished story, staring straight ahead. That deep and empty gaze seemed to be able to penetrate the soul, making people feel a creepy fear.
Salina's heart beat faster. She thought she was fully prepared for what was about to happen, but the actual scene before her was beyond her expectations.
In the darkness of the night, everything was silent and the only sound could be heard was their heavy and rapid breathing.
Harry's eyes moved between the petrified cat and the rapidly dancing fire on the wall. His green eyes, which had once been full of vitality, were now filled with confusion and anxiety.
Hermione and Salina clasped hands. They were oppressed by the strange environment around them, but they felt a little strength from each other's palms. They looked at each other and read the worry and indecision in each other's eyes through the flickering light of the torches.
Ron crossed his arms, trying to give himself some comfort with this posture, but the cold, wet air still soaked through his school uniform mercilessly, making him shiver slightly, and his sight unconsciously lingered in the dim light and shadow.
At the same time, a low noise was heard, and the party was over.
From both ends of the corridor where Harry and the others were, there could be heard the sound of hundreds of feet landing on the stairs, as well as the happy laughter of the young wizards after their meal.
Then, a group of students pushed and shoved into the aisle from both ends.
When the people in front saw the petrified cat hanging upside down, the team stopped abruptly and the lively chattering sounds suddenly disappeared.
Salina and the other three stood nervously in the middle of the dim corridor, their figures cast long shadows by the torches.
The noise and bustle just now seemed to be silenced in an instant, and the crowd quickly calmed down in fear and curiosity. Soon, the atmosphere around them became extremely hot and full of unusual tension.
The little wizards stared at the four people among them, and no one dared to make a sound.
Everyone held their breath, their footsteps sliding soundlessly on the cold stone floor, quickly forming an airtight semicircle around them.
Among so many faces, Salina suddenly recognized a face that surprised and worried her - Colin.
Colin's eyes were full of doubts and uneasiness. Obviously, he didn't know how to deal with the terrible scene before him.
He seemed to want to rush over, but seemed afraid to get close to the twisted cat's body. This conflicting emotion made his steps hesitant.
In the silent air, Draco's voice was like a thunderbolt, breaking the silence of the night.
"Those who are enemies of the heir, beware! Mudblood, you're next!"
His voice was sharp and provocative, making the already tense atmosphere even more solemn, and all eyes were attracted by his abrupt words.
Draco pushed aside the students in front of him and walked to the front step by step. His cold eyes seemed to be able to penetrate people's hearts.
His face looked even gloomier in the flickering light of the torches, and his red face formed a sharp contrast with his usual pale and indifferent expression.
His eyes swept across everyone and finally stopped on Harry. The almost gritting smile made the air around them seem to freeze.
"What did you do to Filch's cat?" As Draco accused, the already tense atmosphere became even more tense.
"It's not us, we just got here too," Harry explained, his voice, though calm, not being able to completely hide his nervousness.
This sudden accusation made the already complicated situation even more unpredictable. Everyone's heart was filled with doubts and uneasiness, wondering what other accidents would happen that night.
The heat wave of the little wizards' whispers gradually hit Salina and the others. An indescribable tight pressure filled the corridor. Everyone's face was particularly obvious under the flickering flames, and their expressions ranged from fear, astonishment to curiosity.
The shadow of worry suddenly loomed over Hogwarts Castle, like an invisible hand strangling everyone's heartbeat.
Filch's face, which usually looked too stern, was now even more gloomy, making people dare not look directly at it.
His steps were heavy and quick. He tried his best to push away the students who were standing between him and the scene of the incident, and from time to time he cast impatient and almost reproachful glances into the crowd.
In the depressing atmosphere, people could only barely hear Filch's hoarse voice breaking through the noise, asking what happened. However, no one dared to answer easily.
When Filch finally reached the innermost circle, there was a flash of shock in his eyes.
He pursed his lips tightly, his eyebrows were almost twisted together, he stumbled back a few steps, holding his head in his hands, in horror.
"Mrs. Norris!" he screamed, his voice almost breaking the silence, his mind in chaos.
