Hogwarts Lion Girl

Chapter 37: Successful Research on the Voice-Recording Spell

The books about school history in the library, especially those rows of bookshelves related to the secret room, are all covered with reserved labels. From a distance, the reservation list looks like a long dragon.

The little wizards, holding books, sat together and had a heated discussion, trying to find clues from history and decipher the half-hidden past.

Whether in the restaurant or the classroom, in the corridor or in the corner, everyone's conversation is revolving around the legend of the secret room, and everyone's eyes reveal worry and curiosity.

This sudden incident turned Hogwarts into a battlefield full of speculation and suspicion. Everyone was participating in this invisible battle in his own way.

In addition to guessing what was hidden in Slytherin's Chamber of Secrets, the young wizards discussed the most about who the heir was.

But Salina didn't care about this. The secret room had been opened, and no matter who the heir was, she would stop it.

What Salina lacks now is only strength, so she decided to speed up her learning progress.

Whenever night falls, Salina goes to the library to explore the secrets in the forbidden books.

There are many dangerous but powerful magics recorded in those books that are heavily cursed and have to be read with caution to avoid triggering alarms. This is one of the fastest ways to increase strength.

In a dim corner of the library, Salina flipped through one ancient magic book after another. The yellowed pages recorded all kinds of strange spells and forgotten rituals.

Finally, in a tattered notebook, Salina discovered the secret hidden under the scribbled handwriting.

It was a few words about sonic magic, mentioning how to use magic to capture and replay sounds in nature. This undoubtedly gave Salina an inspiration. If she could create a spell that could simulate the sound of a rooster crowing, wouldn't it be able to scare away the basilisk?

However, turning this idea into reality is not easy.

Salina needs to test different sound frequencies to find the one that the basilisk fears the most, and also needs to design the structure of the spell and the spell itself. She must complete this task before Harry and the others enter the Chamber of Secrets.

As Salina delved deeper into her research, the only sounds left in the library late at night were the rustling of writing and the ticking of the clock.

She tried spell after spell, some failed and resulted in explosions, while others had no effect at all.

After repeated failures, Salina gradually adjusted and improved. One dawn after countless attempts, a faint "cooing" sound was heard in the library, and the joy of success appeared on Salina's tired face.

She finally created that special spell, simulating the crowing sound of a rooster that frightened the basilisk, and now she had a trump card in her hand.

……

I don't know when it started, but everyone started to suspect Harry.

At first, it was all just a joke—harmless school gossip, a secret passed on by word of mouth.

But as rumors and gossip grew, everything changed.

At dinner time, Salina inadvertently caught the flustered figure of Justin Finch-Fletchley, who seemed to be deliberately avoiding Harry.

Serena raised her eyebrows slightly, and heard intermittent whispers in her ears, "...the heir of Slytherin..." Although the voice was low, it was filled with obvious panic and fear. Serena vaguely felt an unusual tense atmosphere in the air around her.

The whispers and speculations became a suffocating noise, and countless eyes were cast on Harry.

Harry felt the weight of this "attention". Whenever he walked through the classroom or the cafeteria, there were always people whispering and exchanging speculations about him.

He didn't understand how he could become the focus of a terrorist attack. He was just a boy who wanted to live a peaceful life, but now he was trapped in an unfamiliar role - the so-called "Slytherin heir" who was speculated, questioned and pointed at.

The night was lonely, lying in the four-poster bed in the bedroom, watching the shadows on the ceiling change unpredictably with the dance of the wind outside the window, Harry felt heavy-hearted. He wanted a definite answer - an answer that could help him get rid of the fog of the heir.

This made him restless, he had to know what the whispers were. He began to crave another kind of relief, which was to discover the truth behind the secret room.

……

The corridors of Hogwarts are silent and mysterious at night. The moonlight shines through the towering windows, spilling onto the ancient carpet, casting mottled shadows.

When the wind blows through the castle, the swaying lamp at the end of the corridor flickers a weak but persistent light. The occasional groaning sound from the old handrails of the stairs makes the surrounding darkness seem even deeper.

Draco was hiding stealthily in the shadows at the corner of the corridor, his eyes fixed on several figures not far ahead, which were Harry and the other two.

Draco raised a mocking smile and whispered, "I finally caught you! You are finished this time, Harry Pott!"

……

Salina hurried back to the dormitory from the library with light steps. She heard light footsteps and thought it should be Filch on night patrol.

Salina turned and headed towards the balcony. It seemed that she had to take another way.

……

Draco watched Harry and the others turn a corner, then hurriedly emerged from the shadows and quickly followed.

When passing a balcony, he subconsciously looked back and then stayed where he was.

The mottled moonlight slanted down on the balcony shrouded in the night. A young girl suddenly jumped in from outside, her flying hair spreading out like wings in the moonlight, breathtakingly beautiful.

When Salina looked up, she saw a familiar figure standing in front of her. When their eyes met, there was a moment of silence in the air.

Draco swallowed and was about to speak, but suddenly Salina took a few steps forward, covered his mouth and retreated into the shadow behind the statue.

After a while, Filch walked around the corner holding an oil lamp. He took a quick look and found nothing unusual, so he continued his night patrol at a slow pace. Without Mrs. Norris's help, the night patrol became much more boring.

Only after Filch walked away did Salina let go of Draco's hand and distanced herself from him.

Draco wiped his mouth and chuckled, "Oh, we caught another Gryffindor wandering around at night. This time you are all doomed."

Salina glanced at Draco and asked in confusion, "Why are you so happy? Aren't you taking a night tour?"

Draco choked and his face turned slightly red.

"It's none of your business! You're going to be in trouble anyway."

Salina suddenly realized something and asked, "Are there still Gryffindors wandering around at night?"

Draco also came to his senses, and he hurriedly ran towards the corner where Harry and the others disappeared, but there was no one there, only a complicated corridor.

"Damn it! Where did that guy Pott go?"

Salina walked over to Draco and looked at him, thoughtful.

It seems that Draco is following Harry and the others. Have they made any new discoveries?

Draco turned around and saw Salina. He glared at her angrily and said, "It's all your fault!"

Salina was stunned for a moment, and said with a smile: "If it weren't for me, you would have been caught by Filch!"

Draco: "..."

Salina didn't intend to investigate the purpose of Harry and the other two's night outing. Since it shouldn't be dangerous anyway, she turned around and prepared to leave.

"It's getting late. If you have nothing to do, you should go back to the dormitory."

Draco looked at the girl's back and gritted his teeth. "Humph! Just like Pott, both are annoying guys."

Having lost track of Harry, there was no point in continuing his night tour, so he tiptoed towards Slater's lounge.
