Hogwarts Lion Girl

Chapter 39 Quidditch

In a blink of an eye, the Saturday morning sun shone through the tall windows of the auditorium, casting beams of soft light on the long dining table.

Salina and Ginny rubbed their sleepy eyes and walked into the ancient and solemn hall with their backs to the morning light. They could feel the tense atmosphere in the air.

In the Great Hall, the young wizards of Gryffindor filled the dining table of their house, but breakfast this day was a little different from usual. Every face was filled with nervousness and anticipation, and the volume of their conversations unconsciously dropped. The approaching Quidditch match inexplicably brought a layer of suppressed excitement to the usually noisy hall.

Although Wood sat at the table with his teammates, unlike them, the food on his plate seemed to be just a decoration.

His eyes would occasionally glance at his teammates' plates, encouraging them: "Eat more, we need you to go all out today."

However, facing a table full of delicacies, he himself had no appetite at all, and the expression on his face was as if covered with a layer of frost.

Looking at the Slytherin Quidditch team members who were looking provocative not far away, his eyes were full of caution.

Because the positions of those annoying guys were all filled with brooms that were far superior to theirs, Harry's broom had no advantage at all in this match, and it could even be said that the Gryffindor team was already at a disadvantage.

The sound of the bell had not yet completely faded away, and most of the young wizards were still immersed in the aroma of breakfast. Wood suddenly stood up and glanced resolutely at the team members sitting around him.

He squeezed out a low command from the back of his throat: "Go, now, gather at the Quidditch field for the final training."

The atmosphere in the hall suddenly became extremely tense. Wood's voice was like an unsheathed sword, as if foreshadowing the importance of this game.

The Gryffindor players quickly put down their knives and forks, even though the food on their plates was not yet finished, they had to obey the captain's command and stood up to walk towards this competition of honor and dreams.

Serena and Ginny looked at each other. They felt the change in the air and knew that this was no longer an ordinary day - this was the moment of the day that all Quidditch players and fans had been looking forward to.

……

As the noon bell approached little by little, Hogwarts was filled with an atmosphere of tension and anticipation.

The young wizards gathered in twos and threes and hurried to the Quidditch field on the edge of the school after lunch.

Quidditch, that is a word that can make the whole Hogwarts boil, and every game is a common festival for all teachers and students in the school.

Salina followed the crowd, passing through the winding paths and along the ancient castle walls, each step heavy with history and glory.

Gradually, more and more laughter and cheers poured into my eardrums, like the whispers of distant waves, surrounding my ears.

When we arrived at the stadium, the stands were already filled with bustling crowds of people.

Hagrid's figure seemed even taller among the crowd, like a lighthouse guiding lost ships.

In the stands, Colin had arrived early. He reserved a seat for Salina. Next to him was Ginny's red hair sparkling in the sun.

Colin waved, and Ginny smiled mischievously, "Come on, Salina." Her voice floated in the air, intertwined with the excited discussions of the audience, and it didn't sound very real.

Serena sat next to them both, the sun breaking through the clouds and casting a golden glow on the sports field.

……

The whistle at the start of the game pierced the sky of Hogwarts, signaling the official start of this long-awaited game.

On the field, fourteen black shadows were like nighthawks, dancing, spinning, and flying in the air at different heights under the cover of morning light, attracting countless pairs of eyes to follow and be fascinated by them.

Fred and George were like two swords, dancing in the air. However, Slytherin seemed to have already honed a strategy to fight against the twins in the competition.

In the seemingly chaotic attack, the Slytherin Quidditch players exchanged subtle glances and divided their forces to disrupt the attack. Several Chasers and Catchers who flew particularly fast seized the opportunity and accurately passed the ball again and again, cleverly avoiding the tight defense of Fred and George.

In this tense moment, two quick and fierce attacks successfully passed the ball through Gryffindor's three circular goals.

The Slytherin players on the field had already demonstrated their superior skills and ruthless efficiency, but Fred and George's momentary negligence allowed the other side to seize this momentary gap.

The score difference on the field widened further amid waves of cheers. Those two successful goals were not only a heavy blow to all Gryffindors, but also a huge mockery of the twins' knightly defense.

And in this dazzling, heart-pounding moment, the Slytherin team clearly demonstrated its more unmatched strength.

The team members cooperated well and moved smoothly and quickly, as if they were destined to dominate the sky.

In just ten minutes, they were like warriors on a battlefield, breaking through Gryffindor's defenses time and time again, almost making the Gryffindor chasers become background characters in their performance.

Every time the Slytherin team members leaped into the air on their lightning-fast brooms, the audience would be so nervous that they would hold their breath and even be afraid of missing any exciting moment.

After three goals were scored, the crowd cheered loudly, some of which were mixed with helplessness and loss - especially Fred and George. The twins became the focus of people's sympathy. Their brooms seemed to have lost their way. They followed the Slytherin players but were always half a beat slower. The ball had already passed through the opponent's goal, but they were still struggling to catch up.

The Gryffindor team in the air seemed to be suppressed to the point of being breathless, confused for a while, and made repeated mistakes, while the Slytherins were full of momentum and confidence, making full use of this advantage with ferocity and accuracy comparable to that of a bird of prey.

The mood of the audience also quietly changed as the score widened. Gryffindor supporters clenched their teeth and cursed, while Slytherin fans smiled to their heart's content and cheered for victory into the air. They echoed on the top of the high castle, foreshadowing a possible victory.

Colin said weakly, "Their brooms are too fast. We can't catch up at all. We will lose if we keep going like this."

Ginny agreed uneasily, "Yeah, unless Harry can catch the Snitch soon."

Slytherin scored again, and the situation on the field became more urgent.

Harry's outstanding performance became Gryffindor's only hope. The audience's eyes were focused on him, expecting him to demonstrate his extraordinary abilities to turn the situation around.
