Hogwarts Lion Girl

Chapter 92 Peter Panic

There was a strong wind outside Hogwarts Castle, and heavy rain hit the windows, making crackling sounds.

The warm fire in the office crackled slightly, illuminating the mottled portraits on the wall and the faces of Lupin and Black, who were leaning over their old desks, studying the Marauder's Map in their hands in the dim light.

Professor Lupin held the Marauder's Map tightly, carefully identifying every name on it, while Black paced back and forth in the room anxiously.

Suddenly, Lupin's eyes locked on a name moving near Hogsmeade village. The name read "Peter Pettigrew". After witnessing this scene with his own eyes, Lupin finally believed everything Black said.

"We must catch him immediately!" Blake shouted excitedly, grabbing his cloak, "We can't let him get away!" Lupin nodded solemnly in agreement, "That's right, we must not let him escape!" The two immediately began to hunt down the traitor.

……

Peter hid on the road leading to Hogwarts from the Shrieking Shack, thinking about how to get close to Harry without being discovered. However, a cool breeze blew past, and he felt inexplicably panicked.

He looked into the distance. The Hogwarts Castle was brightly lit, but the warm light could not reach the dark corner where he was hiding. He swallowed nervously. The weather was so cold that he couldn't help shivering.

Peter looked around anxiously. Not far behind him, in a tall bush, a pair of eyes shining with green light were staring at him. He turned his head suddenly, and in the faint moonlight, he saw the huge creature hiding in the bushes - a huge black dog, staring at him fiercely. Peter was so scared that he ran away.

Peter ran desperately, and the bushes and trees retreated rapidly around him, but he could feel the huge black dog not far behind him, and its heavy breathing was like a death drum, beating on his nerves.

"Damn it! What is going on?" Peter cursed breathlessly. He turned into a narrow fork road in a panic, hoping to escape Blake's pursuit.

However, contrary to expectations, Blake's huge body was extremely flexible. It followed Peter into the fork in the road, and the distance between the man and the dog became even closer.

"How could he have found me all along? Does he have some magic item that can track me?" A thought suddenly flashed through Peter's mind. "Wait, magic item? Damn it, I should have thought of that earlier!"

He suddenly stopped in his tracks, his eyes widened in horror, and he remembered the magical Marauder's Map, the map that showed the locations of all creatures in Hogwarts and the surrounding area!

"Yes, it must be that map! Damn James, I knew he would leave this thing to that kid!" Peter cursed with gritted teeth, his heart filled with anger and fear.

He hid behind a thick oak tree, trying to calm his rapid breathing, his brain working rapidly, desperately thinking of countermeasures. He knew that he had to get rid of Blake's pursuit as soon as possible, otherwise once caught, what awaited him would be a fate more terrible than death.

……

In the dead of night, Peter moved like a frightened bird, sticking to the shadows of the castle. He had to go back to the stupid red-haired boy, which was the safest place at the moment. Black, that madman, was a wanted criminal now, and there was no way he could appear in the castle openly.

Thinking of Blake, Peter couldn't help but shudder. He knew Blake too well. When that guy got mad, he could do anything! Damn it, he shouldn't have taken that shortcut to save trouble!

Peter slipped back to the Gryffindor common room, and with the faint moonlight outside the window, he saw Ron dozing in his bed. The guy was sleeping so soundly that his saliva was flowing down his chin.

Peter climbed onto the bed carefully. Ron was half asleep, so he turned over and hugged him in his arms. "Scabby, where have you been? Why are you so cold..."

Peter shook off the dust on his body, found a comfortable position, and snuggled into Ron's arms. Feeling the warmth from Ron's body, Peter's uneasy heart was slightly settled.

The next morning, Ron opened his sleepy eyes drowsily, and a familiar smell entered his nose - it was the unique smell of Scabbers, mixed with the smell of mice and dust. He looked down and saw that it was Scabbers curled up in his arms, sleeping soundly. Ron was ecstatic and hugged him into his arms, saying happily: "Scabbers, you are finally back, where have you been all this time?"

Peter was almost strangled, and in his heart he warmly greeted Ron's whole family. He struggled hard and escaped from Ron's clutches, lying on the pillow, pretending to be a normal mouse, shivering.

Ron didn't notice his abnormality at all. He jumped out of bed excitedly and shouted to Harry in the next bed: "Harry! Harry! Scabbers is back!"

Harry rubbed his sleepy eyes and yawned, "Oh, that's great, Ron."

"That's what I said. How could Scabbers be missing? He must have just gone out to play!" Ron was happily playing with Peter, completely unaware that his pet mouse was complaining crazily in his heart.

During breakfast, Ron couldn't wait to share the good news with Hermione, but was met with a roll of the eyes from Hermione.

"Ron, you need to apologize to me. I told you that Crookshanks didn't eat him." Hermione said calmly, cutting a piece of fried egg gracefully.

Ron was stunned. He looked at Hermione, then at Scabbers who was pretending to sleep on his legs, and was speechless.

Hermione put down her knife and fork, crossed her arms, and said seriously, "Ron, I know you are worried about Scabbers, but you can't blame Crookshanks for this. Although Crookshanks is naughty, he will never hurt Scabbers."

Ron's face flushed red. He stammered and couldn't speak. Finally, he lowered his head and whispered, "I'm sorry, Hermione, I... I wronged Crookshanks."

Hermione finally smiled. She patted Ron's shoulder gently and said, "It's okay, Ron. I know you're just too worried about Scabbers."

The atmosphere between the three of them returned to its former harmony, as if nothing had happened.

Only Peter knew that things were not that simple. He hid in Ron's pocket, secretly observing the surroundings, feeling vigilant and uneasy.
