Hogwarts Lion Girl
Chapter 94 Saving Buckbeak
Dumbledore was also surprised after hearing the explanation, but he nodded calmly and said firmly, "I believe you, Sirius, Remus. I will testify for you in the courtroom, make the truth of that year public, clear Sirius' name, and make Peter pay for his actions."
At this moment, a teeth-grinding friction sound came from the secret passage, and then Snape's figure appeared in front of everyone. He covered his head with one hand and staggered out of the secret passage. His face was frighteningly pale, as if he would faint at any time.
Snape slowly raised his head and saw Black standing next to Dumbledore. Two balls of rage instantly ignited in his eyes, and a hoarse voice seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth: "Black!"
Snape pointed at Black's nose and shouted at Dumbledore at the top of his lungs: "Albus, look carefully! Black and Lupin are in cahoots! They knocked me out in the Shrieking Shack and stole my wand!"
Lupin sighed helplessly and said to Snape, "Severus, I'm sorry, the situation was urgent and we had no choice." As he said that, he handed Snape's wand back to him.
Lupin explained the whole story to Snape again, and Dumbledore patted Snape on the shoulder and said gently: "Severus, calm down, things are not what you think." Snape then glared at Black and Lupin fiercely, turned and left.
Seeing that the matter was almost over, Ron raised his hand tremblingly and said in a low voice: "Um... Professor, I, I feel a little uncomfortable. Can I go to the infirmary?"
Dumbledore looked down at him and asked, "What's wrong, Ron?"
Ron's voice lowered: "My foot... was bitten by Mr. Black's Animagus. I may need treatment." He paused, then added in a low voice, "Also, after seeing Scabbers' true face, I feel... I feel that my heart has also been indelibly traumatized and needs treatment."
Then, Dumbledore patted Black on the shoulder, nodded to Lupin, and took them, as well as Peter, who was bound by magic, towards the castle gate, ready to go to the Ministry of Magic via the Floo Network. Harry watched Dumbledore leave, turned around and saw Ron grimacing in pain, so he and Hermione supported him on both sides, while Salina walked in front and took them to the infirmary.
Ron was lying on the bed while Madam Pomfrey was treating his bitten ankle. The smell of disinfectant irritated his nostrils and made his thoughts drift elsewhere.
Harry, Hermione and Serena sat next to him, and no one spoke.
Harry and Hermione, who had finally regained their composure, thought of Buckbeak's tragic death. Those wet eyes and the desperate cries of death that they had imagined pierced their hearts like needles.
Seeing Harry and Hermione were sad because of Buckbeak, a trace of worry flashed in her eyes. She calmly took out a silver chain from her pocket, on which hung an exquisitely crafted pocket watch with intricate patterns carved on the cover.
The smell of disinfectant filled the air. Salina gently shook the silver chain in her hand, and the pocket watch made a crisp ticking sound, which was particularly clear in the quiet infirmary. She casually handed the pocket watch to Hermione and said softly, "Professor McGonagall gave me this not long ago, saying that it would help me make better use of my time. I think you should have it too, Hermione."
Hermione was stunned by what Serena said. She blinked and moved her eyes from the pocket watch to Serena's face. She instantly understood what she meant. She felt her heartbeat speed up slightly, and a warm current of hope dispelled the haze that shrouded her heart. She took a deep breath, suppressed her inner excitement, stood up suddenly, grabbed Harry's arm, and strode towards the door. When she reached the door, she stopped again, looked back at Serena, with a hopeful light in her eyes, and asked, "Do you want to go with me, Serena?"
Salina shook her head gently, her long hair drawing a graceful arc in the air as she moved. She put the silver chain in her hand back into her pocket, and her fingertips accidentally touched the exquisite pocket watch. The cold touch reminded her of Professor McGonagall's serious expression when she handed her the pocket watch.
She could understand Hermione and Harry's desire to save Buckbeak, but she was really powerless now, so she could only explain helplessly: "I can't use it now. I registered with the Ministry of Magic starting from my third year."
Hermione nodded in understanding, her nose filled with the smell of disinfectant in the infirmary. She took a deep breath, as if to dispel the smell along with the gloom of Buckbeak's impending execution, and then pulled the confused Harry and pushed open the door of the infirmary. The sound of hurried footsteps echoed in the corridor.
Ron moved his bandaged ankle and a sharp pain made him gasp. The smell of disinfectant filled his nostrils, making him frown.
He turned to look at the departing backs of Harry and Hermione, then looked at Serena standing beside them, his eyes full of confusion.
Ron tried hard to recall the conversation just now, but he felt dizzy and groggy, as if he had been fed a large glass of butter beer. He stretched out his hand to scratch his messy red hair and asked stupidly, "The effect of the drug this time is really strong! Is my brain damaged? Why can't I understand what you are saying at all?"
Salina gently raised the corners of her mouth, revealing a soothing smile, then lowered her eyes slightly, her long eyelashes casting a shadow on her fair cheeks, and began to count the time when Hermione and Harry left in her mind.
One, two, three, four, five.
The door of the infirmary was pushed open with a creaky sound, and Harry and Hermione trotted in, sweating profusely. Their rapid breathing and chaotic footsteps broke the silence of the infirmary.
Hermione had a bright smile on her face. She trotted to the bed and grabbed Serena's hand. Her excitement made her hand tremble slightly.
Hermione said excitedly: "We did it! Buckbeak is fine."
Ron was stunned. The smell of disinfectant made his nose itchy. He couldn't help sneezing. The white bandage swayed slightly as his body shook. He tilted his head strangely and looked at Hermione, his eyes full of confusion and puzzlement.
"Hermione, what nonsense are you talking about?" He moved his bandaged ankle, and the pain made him gasp, and his voice became weaker. "Buckbeak is obviously dead. We saw the executioner swing the axe with our own eyes."
Hermione pulled up Salina, and without answering Ron's question, she walked straight to the door of the infirmary. Salina was pulled by her and quickly followed her pace. She could still smell the faint scent of grass on Hermione, which was tainted from the Forbidden Forest.
When they reached the door, Hermione turned around and said, "I've tied him to a tree for now. Let's go find Hagrid now." Before she finished her words, she had already pulled Salina out of the infirmary, leaving Ron alone lying on the hospital bed, looking at their departing backs in confusion.
