In the dim room, Gerlin sat at the table, with an endless amount of materials in front of him. His hands nimbly moved between the faintly glowing pieces of cloth, the mysterious herbs, and a few fallen star pendants that shone with a dim glow. Gerlin's brows were furrowed, and he was obviously thinking about something important.

"Can I?" He whispered the question over and over again in a voice so soft that it was barely audible. He was struggling fiercely with anxiety and desire. The desire for eternal life was like the attraction from the abyss, making it impossible to extricate oneself.

"Humph, what a stupid idea." At this moment, an abrupt voice interrupted his thoughts. "Do you really think you can gain eternal life through these Fallen Star Pendants?"

Gerlin turned his head and saw Alsha leaning against the door frame, with a mocking look in her eyes. Her black hair cascaded down like clouds, setting off her stern face, like a goddess walking out of the darkness.

"Alsha, why are you here?" Gerlin rubbed his temple with his hand. He didn't want to argue with her.

"Let me take a look at this ridiculous plan," she smiled contemptuously, walked into the room, and scanned the materials on the table. "There are always people who think they can challenge fate, but tell me, who can escape the shackles of death?"

"I can," Gerling answered firmly, as if this had become his only belief. "This is not only a personal pursuit, but also the destiny of mankind. Immortality is not a dream."

"Fate?" Alsha laughed sarcastically. "What you want to create is just a decaying body that cannot bear the true meaning of immortality! Don't you realize that having immortality is also a curse?"

Gellin's hand stopped on the material, as if touched by her words. He knew that she was right, eternal life might mean loneliness, but he could not suppress the strong desire in his heart.

"I can't stop." He whispered, his eyes refocusing on the materials on the table, his voice gradually becoming firmer, "I must find the secret and solve the mystery of eternal life."

Alsha sighed, stepped forward resolutely, and gently brushed the Fallen Star Pendant that had not been touched for many years. "Do you really think these items can reveal the truth buried deep in time? Even the greatest sorcerer cannot escape the passage of time."

"But warlocks have also changed history," Gerlin responded unyieldingly, "and those ancient sages have also explored the unknown and taken risks. I am willing to accept this challenge!"

"You are challenging not only fate, but also human nature." Alsha's voice became softer, but still full of warning. "If you only pursue eternal life, have you ever thought that human nature will be worn out over the long years?"

He tried to convince himself that immortality would bring infinite knowledge and power, and that it was worth losing something, but he could not deny the waves that Alsha's words stirred in his heart.

"I can bear the loss, but I can't give up the search." He finally spoke, his voice still firm, "Every adventure in life is a proof of self. I can't miss this time."

"You are a naive fool." Alsha shook her head, the expression in her eyes became complicated, "But even so, I can't deny that you are a brave man. Perhaps you need an assistant to better complete this crazy plan."

Gerling was stunned. "You're willing to help me?"

"I'm not willing to help you, but I want to supervise you," she said coldly, "I don't want you to fall into a deeper quagmire, at least within the scope of my control."

Gerlin looked at her, and a sense of gratitude welled up in his heart. "Thank you, Alsa. People always need companions."

"Don't be too grateful to me." Alsha seemed to relax her guard a little, and a smile appeared on the corner of her mouth. "I am just achieving my own goals. You are just a tool."

"Tools can also be friends." Gerling smiled slightly, with a gleam in his eyes. "On this road of exploration, we can rely on each other and move forward together."

The atmosphere in the air began to become more relaxed, and Gerling showed her the materials on the table again, "How should we proceed now? What is the first step?"

"We need to understand the properties of these materials first." Alsha looked over carefully and pointed at several stones of different colors. "These are the core materials of the Fallen Star Pendant. There is a different energy behind each color. We must understand the relationship between them."

After adjusting his mood, Gerling nodded and responded, "Okay, let's start from here."

The two were immersed in their preparations, and the light in the room gradually became brighter. Alsha's guidance made Gerlin's thinking clearer, and he gradually formed an understanding of the Fallen Star in his mind. Together, they classified the different materials and analyzed the potential meaning of each material one by one.

"The blue Fallen Star Pendant seems to be able to strengthen the connection between the soul and the body, while the red one is more aggressive and can be used to enhance certain abilities." Gerlin said excitedly, with a gleam of insight in his eyes.

"That's right, but have you ever thought that over-strengthening may lead to irreversible consequences?" Alsha's voice was low and gloomy.

"I will control it," Gelling replied firmly. "I must try it no matter what, and you will stay with me."

Alsha nodded slightly, but her tone remained cold, "I will supervise you, but I don't want you to be too obsessed with this path. Eternal life is not the ultimate goal we are pursuing."

"Yes." Gerling replied softly, but a stronger desire to explore was burning in his heart.

As the night gradually fell during the repeated discussions and preparations, the materials in the room emitted a faint light. Gerling knew that this journey of exploration had just begun, and the road ahead was both fascinating and precipitous. Despite the unknown, he and Alsha worked hand in hand, and there was always a glimmer of light in the darkness ahead.
