Romans' forehead was covered with cold sweat. He sat in the dark and damp basement. The walls around him seemed to be closing in. The suffocating atmosphere made him feel suffocated. His wrists were chained to a chair. Beside him, Gerlin had a hideous face and eyes as sharp as a cheetah.

"Rommath, you know what I want." Gerlin's voice was low and threatening. "Tell me the secret, and maybe I can consider letting you go."

"I won't tell you anything!" Romans gritted his teeth, a mixture of fear and indomitable will in his heart. He knew that he was facing a life-and-death test, but he also knew that what he was carrying behind him was not only his own fate, but also the future of the organization.

Gerlin stared at Romans with a hint of disdain in his eyes. "You are really stubborn. I haven't seen someone like you in a long time. Do you think you can hold on to the end? This is not a game." He stood up, walked in front of Romans, looked down at him, and curled the corners of his mouth into a sneer.

“Game?” Romance felt powerless, but still looked at him unyieldingly. “Do you think this is a game? My choice is to fight for my companions and live for justice!”

Garlin smiled contemptuously, then frowned, "In the face of power and survival, justice is nothing but an illusion. You can try to exchange your justice for your freedom." He turned and walked to the table beside him, picked up a silver gun, and played with it gently.

Romans' heartbeat quickened as he felt the chill from the gun. He knew that a bad guy like Garlin would not care about the blood on his hands and would do anything he could. He took several deep breaths to keep himself calm and prayed silently in his heart to protect the important information.

"Do you know why I have always wanted this secret? This is not a simple power struggle, but a battle of life and death." Gerling suddenly said, his tone became a little softer, as if trying to establish some connection with Romance.

"Don't try to incite me!" Romance responded, his voice trembling but still firm.

"I don't have such noble sentiments." Gerling smiled, with the corners of his mouth slightly raised. "I just want you to understand that accepting reality is the only way out. In this game, your stubbornness can only make yourself more painful."

"Pain?" Romans repeated, cursing in his heart, "Aren't you the one who caused this pain?" He tried to think clearly, trying to find flaws in Gerling's conversation, "What is your goal? Because what you want is never justice."

Gerlin stopped at the table, the smile on his face suddenly disappeared, and turned gloomy. "Yes, my goal is power. Yes, Romans, you are right. I want to gain that power through your secret, and you are the key to my goal."

"This road is destined to be full of blood and sin. Do you really think this kind of power will make you happy?" Romans tried his best to make each word powerful and looked directly into Gerlin's eyes.

"I don't need happiness." Gerling responded coldly, "The heartless and desireless giant is the king of this world. What you think is happiness will eventually be crushed into ashes by reality."

Romans was shocked. These words made him hesitate for a moment, but he clenched his fists again, determined not to be shaken. "I won't let you succeed. Even if it costs me anything, I will never let the secret be exposed!"

“What a shame.” Gellin’s voice turned cold again. He pointed the gun at Romans’ forehead. “You are such a fool. Since you won’t cooperate, I can only use violence to force you.”

"No!" Romans struggled desperately, a layer of cold sweat on his forehead, trying to find a way out in desperation. His mind was running fast, trying to find any possible opportunity.

"I'll give you one last chance," Gelling slowly lowered his finger. The coldness of the muzzle was like the shadow of death, forcing Romans to collapse. He knew that escaping was meaningless.

"If you want my secret, come here." Romans suddenly shouted. A glimmer of hope ignited in his heart. He realized that he might be able to use this to anger Gerlin and make him reveal his flaws. "Do you think I will give in? I would rather die than tell you the information!"

Garlin was stunned for a moment, as if he was shocked by Romans' anger and courage. He slowly put away his gun and leaned against the wall. After a moment of silence, a sly smile appeared on the corner of his mouth. "Very good, I like your tough attitude." He whispered, "But this does not mean that I will give up. Soon, you will understand how stupid your choice is."

At this moment, the door to the basement was pushed open, and two burly bodyguards walked in with stern expressions, obviously just carrying out other orders. Gerling turned around, a hint of viciousness flashed in his eyes, and then he waved at the bodyguards, "Take him away and detain him until he is willing to cooperate."

“Yes, Chief.” The bodyguards walked up to Romans, dragged him up coldly, and prepared to drag him to another confined room.

"Gerlin, you will never make me surrender!" Romans shouted while struggling. His voice echoed in this dark basement, full of unyielding power.

"I'll be waiting for you, Romanth." Gerling had a sinister smile on his face. He stood at the door and watched Romanth go away, as if he was watching a helpless lamb walking towards the altar for slaughter.

Romans was dragged into the confinement room, but he could not calm down. He never thought that he would be forced to go through such a desperate test. The sound of keys coming from behind him made him realize that he had to work harder and find a chance to escape, and he must not let Gerling succeed.

"Romans, be patient, we will definitely escape." He told himself silently in his heart that although the environment was dangerous, he must not give up hope. The light of justice will always illuminate the way forward and will never be swallowed by darkness.
