Chapter 42 Escape (Part )

David ran towards the hospital while yelling, but a shrill whistle sounded in the distance and David stood nervously at the door of the hospital.

"It was all you...it was you who reported it to Sivellas Field, right?"

The doctor on duty in the emergency room heard the call for help and immediately rushed out, pushing a transfer bed and a life-support machine. However, after taking a few steps, the old doctor who was in the lead suddenly stopped everyone with a look of horror on his face, and pulled the medical staff's coats back. The old doctor eventually retreated back into the hospital gate and shouted into the heavy rain with a loud speaker.

"Sir! Please come in quickly! It's very dangerous for you to be outside now!"

David stared blankly at the old doctor who was cowering in the door, then pulled out a gun and yelled at the hospital.

"I understand... You guys are going to capture me alive! And then send me to Sivellas Field in exchange for the bounty, right?"

"No, sir! Both your patient and you are seriously contaminated. Come in quickly!" The old doctor's hoarse but earnest voice came from the loudspeaker. "I won't lie to you. I am the director of this hospital, Sinedu Williams! Son, believe me!"

"Don't lie to me, I know what you are going to do! I used to be a police officer, I have seen this kind of tricks a lot!"

...That's right...They just want to deceive you...

...How can such a pagan be sincere to you? How can such a shabby old hospital be able to cure your wife's illness...

...They want money, your money, the money you need to save your sister...

...No one will help you...

David yelled hysterically and fired into the air.

"Come out! Save my wife!"

"Kid, you still have a deep curse on you. As long as you step into the hospital, we can help you! Besides, I can't let my employees take this risk. There is no life-support equipment outside. They will be powerless and can only die in vain due to the pollution!"

"I don't care! Then bring me a machine that can move!"

"Come in quickly! You are in this state now. You must have been cursed by someone else. The person who is manipulating you may even be around you."

Sinedu's tone was almost pleading.

"Come in, child! Everything can still be saved, believe me!"

"I don't believe it! Come out here!"

The doctors who retreated at the beginning finally arrived at the door with several black boxes, and then the doctors began to put on black bird-beak masks and armed themselves.

"…What is that? What kind of gear are you wearing? You're here to kill me! To steal my money! Just like the guys at Sivellas Field!"

"Kid, that's just a protective suit! Stay there and don't move. We'll be right out!"

The old man put down the horn and shouted loudly to the people behind him.

"The patient is extremely contaminated, cursed, hysterical, and possibly schizophrenic. We cannot rule out the possibility that he has a contagious physiological disease. Be prepared to save the man and the woman!"

After saying that, Sinedu put on a bird-beak mask, and while David was holding his head and screaming, he rushed into the storm with the doctor who was well protected.

Just as Sinedu was about to end the stalemate, red and blue flashing lights suddenly rushed out from the side road, shrill sirens blasted in the storm, and a bullet pierced through the thick rain curtain and shattered the old light box above Sinedu's head.

"Stop! Put down your weapons!"

David was irritated by the police car that appeared out of nowhere. He yelled and started to escape in the storm again with his sister on his back.

The policeman who just rushed out, from the sound of his voice, is not the leader Leonard Mitchell, so this guy must be hiding somewhere else preparing to ambush me!

I can't fall down yet, I can't fall down here!

David shuttled through the gaps between buildings. The chaotic and disordered pipes and debris became perfect obstacles. The well-equipped police cars were simply helpless on the narrow trails.

I, I must reach the Quiet Starlight Hospital before Mitchell finds me. I have made an agreement with Dr. Sander Berg that as long as the money is in place, as long as the money is in place...

Bang!

David, who was in a trance, was tripped by a rusty water pipe again, and fell into the cardboard box with Olga.

But this was not the end. The stacked cardboard boxes could not bear the weight of the two people, and they shook and collapsed, falling with the two people onto the abandoned garbage truck. The truck, with half of the metal sheet exposed outside the floor, lost its balance and flipped outwards due to the sudden weight of the two people, and the two people and the garbage fell onto the roof of the building below.

The fall from a high altitude made David's blurred vision even more fragmented. When he woke up from the thunder again, he found Olga lying with her limbs up in the air on the cold concrete slab in the distance. The accumulated water rushed out a dazzling red stream under Olga's body. The blood mixed with the strange sticky liquid emitted a faint red light in the cold rainy night.

"...Dear...it hurts..."

Olga's sobbing whispers lingered in David's ears. David could not see anything clearly, but could vaguely see the red light and the blurry figure. David uttered a mournful low cry and dragged his limp feet towards Olga.

When David finally held Olga's ankle, his world suddenly became quiet.

The roaring thunder, the noisy rain, and the noisy chatter all turned into silence at this moment, under the shining starlight.

"My husband, my dearest husband..."

Only Olga's intimate whispers were left.

"One more step forward, then turn left into that alley..."

Gentle, clear, with a bright smile, as if whispering a secret between two people in the ear.

"You'll get out, you'll save me, you'll get more money..."

"As long as you listen to me."

With just a few words, David was attracted by the soft syllables in his ears, and he continued to escape without hesitation following the instructions in his ears.

Olga's warm body was clearly in his hands, quietly floating in the storm, but Olga's voice echoed in David's mind over and over again, coming from the rainstorm, from the thunder, from all the sounds between heaven and earth, hugging him with open arms.

Olga is in his hands, Olga is everywhere.

Seeing the sign of Peaceful Starlight Hospital appear above his head, David's wandering thoughts gradually calmed down.

As his senses briefly returned, David did not enter the hospital immediately, but carefully observed the flow of people and surveillance situations around him.

He covered his facial features with a mask and goggles, then covered Olga's festering skin with a coat to prevent passers-by from seeing Olga's sores that were emitting a red glow.

He finally brought Olga to the place of redemption.

With the lesson learned from the Earth Church Hospital just now, David walked into a public telephone booth.

Even though mobile communications are now very advanced, the streets of Backlund still retain the old-fashioned red telephone booths. They are the soul of Loen.

This time David did not smash the camera in the phone booth, which would have immediately set off those alarms without revealing any electronically identifiable features.

"Hello, is this Dr. Sandberg? I brought the money..."
