Marvel crosses Star Wars, and everyone attacks the galaxy
Chapter 153 Searching for Qi Luo's Trace
Eight people were now making their way through the miserable swamps of Nal Huta, and Falcon wrinkled his nose at some of the scents in the air, muttering to himself, "I can see why those fat slugs would choose a place like this as their home."
"There are worse places than this," said Sev of Delta Squad. "Have you ever been to the hive on Geonosis? Can you imagine how disgusting it would be to clean the stench through our helmet filters?"
“The repairman almost vomited his lunch that day,” said Burns with a laugh.
“At least I’m not covered in Queens grime, burnt like you are,” the repairman shot back.
Falcon laughed at the interactions between the clones, finding their easy camaraderie endearing and all too familiar to a veteran like himself.
"So what's it like to be a commando?" Falcon asked, clearly curious about the unique clone troopers. "I've heard a lot about your clone corps and battalions. You commandos and ARC troopers are the best.
"Well, not to brag or anything," Scorch boasted.
"Scorch, if you're going to brag, at least be honest," the repairman said.
"You can be so boring sometimes," said Seph.
"So what's the difference between you commandos and most other clones?" Falcon asked. "The clones always say that your skills are just like the Jedi."
"It's probably due to our base and the people who trained us. Scorch said, "The originator of the Clone Army was the famous Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett. He trained every single Clone Commando, along with Kal Skirata and the rest of the group."
Falcon and the Delta team members chatted about Mandalore, while Quinlan Vos talked with Captain America because he clearly felt that his apprentice Aayla had a special relationship with Captain America. So Quinlan was quite curious about this man, who was the obvious leader of the group called the Avengers.
"How is Ella doing lately?" Voss suddenly asked Captain America, which made Captain America stunned for a moment, and then said: "She has been doing well."
"Okay, okay." Voss said absentmindedly, "Master is always worried about his apprentice, even though he can already stand on his own."
"Yes, she mentioned that you trained her to be a true Jedi Knight." Captain America recalled, "She spoke very highly of you."
Voss's expression changed slightly. "I'm glad to know that. I'm glad that at least someone believes in me this way. In a way, I never really thought of Ella as a student. I thought of her more like a sister or a little daughter."
"I always thought you Jedi had no feelings for each other."
"Captain Rogers, do I look like someone who follows the rules like Kenobi does?" Quinlan said with an ambiguous smile, which returned to a calm smile after a moment. "I know this, but it is actually a challenging aspect of our teachings. Every student and teacher cares about the other in some form, especially after years of getting along."
"This makes me curious about the whole Jedi rule." Captain America muttered under his breath.
Quinlan snorted loudly. "I and a few others generally think this is complete rubbish." At this point he cautiously glanced at Kenobi who was talking to his boss. "Don't let Kenobi's inherent image fool you. He has a lot of ladies who are courting him."
Captain America's eyes widened slightly, and he turned to look at Kenobi. Seeing that he had not been discovered, he asked curiously, "What do you mean?"
"Ah, that's not what I should say." Voss raised his hands. "He and I basically grew up together. I know him. If he wants to tell you this, you will know it naturally."
Captain America said: "I think I still have a lot to learn about the Jedi Order."
The tattooed Jedi laughed, "Now let me ask you a question, have you ever bothered to study the Jedi Code?"
Captain America tilted his head in thought, "Yes, Aayla, Kenobi, and Terra Sa told me some. Jedi Knights are emotionless people."
"Then what do you think?"
"Well, its first line, 'No passions, calm the mind,' is probably a flat-out lie."
Voss let out a wry laugh, "Yes, but if you were to speak out about this to an old fellow on the committee, they would consider it heresy. If you expressed this publicly and were a member of the Order, your Jedi Knighthood would be permanently revoked." He then turned back to Captain America, "So tell me, what else do you have to say?"
Cap took a moment, trying to find the right words to respond, "More like question it. I mean, how much of it is a lie? Everyone has emotions, civilians, politicians, etc. No one is free of them."
"Yes."
"It's just... the more I think about it, the less complete or right it seems." Captain America shook his head, "I'm sorry, I don't mean to come across as ignorant or rude."
"No, no," Voss said soothingly, "To be honest, the Jedi Code has been modified... a lot since then."
"Really?" Captain America was now even more curious, "What do you mean by a lot?"
"Well, most groups and organizations change over time, and the Jedi Order is no exception. So as time goes by, the rules get modified to fit their current developments or whatever. The Jedi Order has been around for thousands of years, and the Jedi Code has gone through several revisions," Voss said, crossing his arms. "I don't even know where we started. The knowledge has been lost over time."
"But why? Why change it?"
"Well, everything changes, Steve," Voss said, as if it were the most obvious thing. "But Master Torm once showed me the original code."
"There is emotion, but peace," Voss began, quickly drawing Cap's attention further. "There is ignorance, but knowledge. There is passion, but tranquility. There is chaos, but harmony. There is death, but the Force. It is the old code."
Captain America said to himself: "Everyone makes mistakes, and everyone has emotions."
"We have to face the sad reality," Voss said, kneeling forward.
"What's wrong?" Captain America asked.
"I found Ziro's traces. He's been here." Voss grabbed some soil and sifted it with his hands. "Maybe he's still here."
"I have no doubt about your tracking abilities, Vos, but why doesn't Ziro leave the planet?" Obi-Wan asked.
"My feeling tells me that he is still here," Worth emphasized.
"It doesn't make sense."
"Something must be keeping him here," Voss said as he walked.
Obi-Wan then complained, "If we had a droid with us, we'd go faster."
"Not everything is easy, Obi-Wan."
"Being with you, I know that all too well."
"I'm hurt, Obi-Wan. Where is the trust we once had?"
