Marvel crosses Star Wars, and everyone attacks the galaxy
Chapter 353 Strange People
Clearing his throat, Barnes continued. "Okay, so you can pass on this particular 'roommate' of yours. How does it work? They don't pay rent or anything?"
Robbie hummed. "Basically. Although it's not that simple.
“Sounds convenient,” Bucky said. “Do you know how many people have possessed the Spirit of Vengeance before you?”
Reyes was talking to himself in deep thought, seemingly having an internal discussion with his "roommate," or for all intents and purposes, with Saratos.
"For thousands of years, there has been a line of riders that have traveled across the globe," Robbie recounted, his voice actually slightly distorted. "The Spirit of Vengeance will go to where the innocent has been wronged and violated, and repentance and justice will follow. No matter who the sinner is, retribution is inevitable.
Bucky was silent, digesting the information he had received.
"So...what about me?" he asked quietly.
Robbie glanced at him out of the corner of his eye. "What about you?"
“You know what I mean,” Bucky said, his tone stern and his expression grim. “You said it yourself, remember? Your ‘roommate’ can detect the sin in every soul. Mine is swimming in it, to be sure.”
"That's not how it works," Robbie quickly responded.
"Now what?" Barnes's anger was now raised. "You talked about repentance and justice."
"You want your soul to burn forever because you killed everyone while you were brainwashed?"
"...sorry?
"After becoming his partner, I had to know which was which. Doing something like this of their own free will, or because they were forced and controlled. Many of the scumbags I've met are a mixture of both. Some enjoy it, while others are extremely disgusted because they have no choice. So tell me, do you really want to be punished for something you have no control over?
Robbie got no answer, which made the man sigh.
“Well, what’s going on? You really seem to love her, Celeste.
When he sees that the Winter Soldier is rather nervous, he gets the reaction he wants, and then continues, “Because I’m pretty confident that if she loses you, she’ll be devastated because she loves you so much.
Bucky leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes, the thought of losing Celeste, someone he never thought he'd love, now deeply bothered him.
“The road to redemption will be a truly long one. Yes, they all weigh on your soul. The sorrows you carry are holding you back from a better tomorrow. To break free from their bondage, you need to deal with and resolve them one by one.
The Winter Soldier was silent for a moment until he began to laugh.
"What's wrong?" Robbie asked confusedly.
"Is it you or the spirit who is saying these words?"
Reyes shook his head, a smug smile on his face. "In fact, this is all I have—"
Robbie's mouth was clenched shut, he froze, his eyes visibly turning into blazing flames.
“Robbie?” Bucky’s voice was slightly concerned at the man’s sudden change of mood.
"Blood." Ghost Rider's voice was even more terrifying. "Blood has been spilled!"
In an instant, he stepped on the accelerator of the motorcycle, and the tires made a screeching sound on the pavement, kicking up dirt and steam.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, Robbie!” Bucky exclaimed, clutching the overhead handle tightly as the car sped through the streets of London.
He couldn't do anything as Ghost Rider seemed to have complete control over Robbie now as the vehicle was weaving around any car it came across with ease.
“Oh shit!” Bucky yelled, and the two of them headed straight for the traffic.
Reyes just grinned before it all started to burn, revealing the metal skull underneath.
Ghost Rider looked at Bucky and he swore he saw the Skull quickly grin.
“Better hold on.
"Or go down!"
Bucky couldn't stand the excitement of the scene, so he quickly unbuckled his seat belt and opened the door. He jumped into the traffic and rolled quickly to avoid being hit by any oncoming cars.
He quickly got up and saw that Ghost Rider's wheels were also on fire, a stream of fire gushed out of the wheels, and the car sped through traffic, driving through traffic without any problems, and then drove away at full speed.
Bucky blinked at the sight. “Oh… not sure how he did it. I guess I should just stay in the car.”
Then he heard hints of an explosion in the distance.
"It doesn't matter," he said dryly. "Crazy driver."
The Winter Soldier knows that he needs to get back to the Temple now. The problem is, he just doesn't know how long it will take from where he is now.
He just had to find any recognizable landmarks and find his way back.
He wants to go out and help Robbie, but considering he has a demon soul inside him that basically makes him hard to kill, Bucky figures since he's brave enough to go off on his own, he should be able to handle it.
Shaking his head, Bucky turned away, ignoring the people who got out of their cars and looked at him, and began to walk away.
"Жeлahne (longing)."
Bucky paused for a moment when he heard the word. He shook his head and continued, all around him hearing.
“pжaвыn (rusty).
There it was again. It was strange to hear this all of a sudden. Not to mention so clearly to him.
“cemhaдцatь (seventeen years old).
Bucky frowned now as he felt his movements begin to slow down.
“paccвet (dawn).
The Winter Soldier's eyes widened and his ears began to ring.
“Пeчь (melting furnace).
Everything started to become blurry and he began to breathe heavily.
“Дeвrtь (nine).
At this point, everything around him tuned out and turned to grasp at those familiar, vile words he had heard for seventy years.
“Дo6pocepдeчhыn (benign).
“No, no, no, no!” Bucky begged, a suffocating feeling taking over.
“Вo3вpaщehne ha poдnhy (go home).
"No! Not this!
"oдnh (one).
It's too late.
“toвaphыn вaгoh (truck).
Bucky froze, frozen in place, unable to move, his expression showing no emotion other than complete obedience.
A man who looked about his age walked up to the super soldier from behind and looked at him with sharp eyes.
He wore a long trench coat with a furry collar, and this strange man seemed to favor a more muted purple color. In one hand was a small device, whose light stopped blinking when he released the button. A device that sent out a frequency that could only be heard once, and adjusted accordingly for the intended person to receive.
The other was a red book, similar to the one Bucky was holding, and he quickly tucked it into his coat.
"Sergeant Barnes," the man said quietly.
“r ждy пpnka3ahnn (I am waiting for orders).” The Winter Soldier responded almost robotically.
When the man heard this, he nodded with satisfaction, although his expression did not show satisfaction. Just focus and determination.
"follow me."
The Winter Soldier had no choice but to comply, and he followed the stranger.
After the two sat on a secluded bench, the man gave his next order.
"I want to know what happened on October 1991, 10," he ordered. "Don't miss any details in your report."
The Winter Soldier did as he was told, listing all the requirements that were placed on him.
