The Impossible Sequel to Genshin Impact
Chapter 117 Infiltrating the Human Base
Kong and Ying looked at each other, secretly alert. This woman exuded a strong aura, and it was obvious that she was not someone to be trifled with.
"We are survivors from the outskirts of the island, and we are here to seek help." Kong lied hurriedly, trying his best to make his expression look sincere and helpless.
The female soldier looked them up and down, a hint of doubt flashed in her eyes, "Where's the ID?"
Sora and Ying looked at each other, how come they had identification...
"Our spaceship crashed and everything was lost." Ying added lied, trying to make her tone sound more real and believable.
The female warrior frowned, as if she was not satisfied with their explanation, but she could not find any flaws. After a moment, she slowly said, "Come with me, let's register first." After that, she turned and walked towards the city.
Kong and Ying breathed a sigh of relief and quickly followed the footsteps of the female warrior. They entered the city and found it full of life and vitality. People were busy working, and the streets were lined with various stalls selling food, weapons and other items.
The female warrior led them to a building and motioned for them to go in. Sora and Ying walked into the house and saw a staff member sitting at a table, concentrating on recording something.
"These two people said they were survivors from the outskirts of the island and had no identification." The female warrior reported to the staff.
The staff member raised his head, glanced at Kong and Ying, then took out a form and handed it to them, "Fill in your personal information."
Sora took the form and quickly filled in the basic information of himself and Ying. He handed the form back to the staff and waited quietly for the next instruction.
The staff member carefully checked the information on the form and nodded, "Okay, you can stay here first, and someone will take you to see the leader tomorrow."
After thanking the staff, Sora and Ying followed the female warrior out of the building. The female warrior led them to a simple shelter and told them to come to her if they needed anything.
Sora and Ying thanked the female warrior gratefully and went into the room. They decided to have a good night's rest and prepare for the next challenge.
The female warrior frowned, obviously skeptical of their statement.
When Kong and Ying were organizing their thoughts in the room, they suddenly heard a noisy sound coming from outside the door. The two looked at each other, both a little confused, so they walked to the door together, gently pushed it open a crack, and looked outside.
I saw a group of people gathered not far from the door, arguing fiercely.
“Why won’t you let us in? We are survivors too!” a man in the crowd shouted excitedly.
"No one is allowed to enter the city without an ID! This is the rule and no one can violate it." The soldiers guarding the city had stern expressions and were not moved at all.
Kong and Ying suddenly realized that there were such strict rules for entering the city. They couldn't help but feel lucky that they met the kind female warrior. If she hadn't brought them in, they would probably have been turned away.
The next morning, Kong and Ying woke up early, washed up, and waited in the house. Not long after, a soldier came to inform them that the leader wanted to see them.
The two followed the soldier to the chief's office, where they saw the chief was a middle-aged man who looked very dignified. He sat at his desk, his eyes sharp as torches, examining Kong and Ying as they walked in.
Kong and Ying greeted the leader politely, then stood quietly aside, waiting for the leader to speak.
The leader looked them up and down, then asked in a serious tone: "Where are you two from?"
Kong and Ying looked at each other, and then Kong told the leader their origins and experiences in detail.
After listening, the leader fell into a brief contemplation. After a while, he slowly said: "You can stay in this city, but you must abide by the rules here. In addition, since you want to stay, you must contribute to the city."
Kong and Ying nodded quickly, indicating that they were willing to follow the leader's arrangements.
Then they left the chief's office and closed the door quietly.
After they walked out of the door, they stood side by side, feeling somewhat complicated. Although they had received affirmation from the leader, they still felt somewhat confused and uneasy about their future work.
"Looks like we're about to start a new life," Sora whispered to his sister, with a hint of anticipation and curiosity in his tone.
"Yes!" Ying nodded heavily, her eyes firm, "No matter what difficulties we encounter, we must work hard to adapt to this place."
The two walked hand in hand in the corridor, their mood gradually calmed down. They knew that no matter what challenges were waiting ahead, as long as they worked together, they would be able to overcome them.
Not long after, a young woman appeared in front of them. She was wearing a simple uniform and had a friendly and gentle smile.
"Hello, I'm in charge of assigning tasks." The woman introduced herself in a clear and pleasant voice.
Kong and Ying quickly responded politely: "Hello, please take care of me."
The woman smiled and continued, "Based on your situation, there are currently two positions suitable for you. One is to assist the city defense team in patrolling and maintaining order in the city; the other is to help collect supplies and ensure the daily needs of the residents. You can make a choice based on your abilities and interests."
Sora and Ying looked at each other and thought seriously. They felt that both jobs were important, but after some discussion, they finally decided to choose the patrol mission.
"We wanted to choose patrol missions," Sora explained to the woman, "This way we can get to know the city better and also do our part to ensure everyone's safety."
The woman's eyes flashed with appreciation, and she nodded, "Okay, then I will arrange for you to connect with the city defense team as soon as possible. But before that, some necessary training is required."
Kong and Ying's hearts tightened. Training? Are there still many requirements for this job? But they did not back down, but bravely faced the unknown challenge.
Then the woman took Ying and Kong to a team of seven people and said, "Ahem, these are your new teammates..."
The team leader greeted them warmly and began to introduce the work content and precautions. Kong and Ying listened attentively and asked some questions from time to time. After the training, Kong and Ying received a set of simple equipment, including a shield and a dagger.
They couldn't wait to put on their equipment, feeling full of strength. Under the leadership of the team leader, they began their first patrol. Walking through the streets and alleys, Kong and Ying carefully observed the movements around them.
