American Comics: When the Police Comes to Knock on the Door
Chapter 70 Shooting
Richard and a Latino man got out of the police car and walked toward the crime scene.
This Latino man's name is Todd Taylor. He is eight years old. He is a mid-level detective and a second-level detective in the Detective Bureau. He has wide forehead, curly hair, thick eyebrows, and a square face. He looks honest and honest, but in fact he is not.
Todd is Richard's new partner, the new partner in the new police department.
After returning to New York from Los Angeles, Richard first accepted internal affairs and worked as an operator for two weeks. After that, he was appointed as a junior detective first class and was transferred to the Detective Bureau.
After showing their police badges, Richard and Todd entered the apartment and made their way to the third floor.
"What's going on now?" Todd asked the police officer present.
"The deceased's name was Michael Lasky, a resident of this apartment, who was shot in the head and died."
While Todd was asking the officer for details, Richard walked up to the deceased and knelt down to check.
The deceased was sitting against the wall of the corridor, the bright red bullet hole on his forehead telling the cause of death.
One shot to the head is a great shot.
Richard took out his gloves from his pocket and put them on. He stretched out his index finger and touched the edge of the bullet hole on the deceased's forehead.
Strangely, the bullet hole was too smooth. Richard had never seen such a gunshot wound before.
Richard moved the deceased's head forward to see if there was any exit port.
There was no ejection port, the bullet should have been stuck in the skull, and there were no traces of gunfire. Based on this calculation, it should be an ordinary 9-gun bullet, and it could rule out close range or close-range shooting.
Richard stood up and observed the position of the deceased. The deceased was leaning against the wall of the corridor. Directly opposite the deceased was a closed door.
Therefore, either the deceased was moved here after death, or the bullet that killed the deceased must have come from this room.
Given that this is a public apartment, it's unlikely that anyone would move the dead here after killing someone. That means that the bullet must have come from this room, and the deceased was most likely shot and killed by the murderer while opening the door.
Richard turned the doorknob.
Why is it locked by the murderer? Why is the murderer so unnecessary?
At this time, Todd patted Richard on the shoulder.
"First ask the person who reported the crime. I have asked the police to go to the building management to get the keys."
Richard nodded and walked towards the reporter of this case with Todd.
The reporter of this case was a woman named Anne, who was a resident on the fourth floor. She saw the deceased while going downstairs and quickly reported the case. But she didn’t know much about the deceased, and she could be ruled out as a suspect because she had a sufficient alibi.
At this time, the police officer took the key from the building manager and handed it to Richard.
Richard opened the door. It was an ordinary single apartment with the windows open. After an inspection, Richard and Todd came to the conclusion that the place had been looted.
"So, it was a home invasion and murder," Todd said to Richard as he walked around the room.
Richard was staring blankly at a trace of blood on the wall at the door. This trace of blood confirmed Richard's guess, but Richard couldn't figure out why the murderer locked the door.
Richard did not answer Todd's question. He did not think this was an accidental homicide caused by a home invasion. The murderer was obviously well prepared. The murderer shot Michael to death as soon as he opened the door. This was not an unexpected move, but more like he was well prepared.
"Todd, should we ask Michael's neighbors? They are too quiet."
There was a shooting here and Michael's neighbors were so quiet. It wasn't normal.
The two walked out of the room and knocked on the neighbor's door.
"yd, police."
A Latino man in pajamas opened the door and came out, then closed the door behind him.
"What's wrong"
"I'm Detective Taylor, can I ask what your name is?"
"Karlund."
"There just was a shooting here. I wonder if you heard anything."
