Master Craftsman of the Pokemon World

#10 - "Light Clay"

According to memory, the original owner, in the few days after returning, roughly pieced together a simple map of the surrounding terrain through extremely limited outdoor activities and exploration, as well as an initial visit to the village and interactions with the villagers.

Koutai returned to the house, took down the map, and looked around again, comparing it to the map.

First is the main body of the Shinto Ruins, which is actually the remains of a shrine, far from the village, hidden in the deepest and highest part of the ancient Spirit Peak. To enter the Spirit Peak, you can only do so in summer. Once the autumn and winter seasons begin, blizzards will rage across the sky. So, it's marked with a "?" on the rudimentary map, in the upper right corner.

It is said that relic investigators or explorers from other regions occasionally conduct investigations, but most of them don't gain much.

This is also normal, after all, there are too many ruins in the Pokémon world. Shinto Ruins... if you don't know the truth about it, you'll only think it's a shrine site located north of Johto and the Indigo Plateau.

In the cold winter season, this place is cut off by blizzards, and the Shinto Ruins deep in the mountains are also blocked by heavy snow. To enter the ruins, you must pass through a wall of ice and snow.

Because it is located on the edge of the Indigo Plateau, the climate is cold, and the snow in the mountain valleys hardly melts all year round. The village is hidden in a mountain depression, relying on the ancient Spirit Peak, retaining a small piece of land to thrive, and the sowing season each year only starts in June.

To the northwest is a large-scale forest called the Shinto Forest. The forest is full of tall, ancient trees, and in some places, even sunlight cannot penetrate.

To the east are continuous unnamed mountains, mainly composed of rocky mountains. These tall and continuous mountains form many deep canyons, with some scattered and broken humid areas distributed in the middle of the canyons. The ancient Spirit Peak where the Shinto Ruins are located is the highest peak in the eastern mountains. Many rivers and streams flow out of the Spirit Peak, passing through the village and the forest.

The south leads to the Johto region, mostly the huge and towering Indigo Plateau. Even Mt. Moon and the Cloudpeak Mountains are part of it. On the opposite side of the plateau is Ecruteak City in the Johto region.

The due west is also an unnamed large plateau and mountain range. From the map, it can be seen that this plateau extends from Ecruteak City and the northern part of the Battle Frontier all the way to the far north, until it goes beyond the map. The scale of just the tip of the iceberg revealed on the Johto map is already comparable to the Indigo Plateau.

Moving his gaze back from the distance, he looked again at the wasteland near the workshop.

Although due to the nature of the work, item craftsmen like himself who take on any kind of job often operate in the mountains and fields of different regions, which means that their workplaces often change, destined not to stay in one place for too long.

Now that he has obtained the special ability to acquire knowledge and craftsmanship, he needs to move around even more.

But his work in Shinto has just begun, and this abandoned workshop should be restarted.

At least he will stay here for a relatively long time, and there is one type of item that cannot leave the land.

That is "Potion".

From the herbs of ancient times to today's Full Heal, Full Restore and other medicines, their essence has not changed. The herbs of the Pokémon world have incredible effects. If it is an ordinary injury, just dripping the juice of the herb on it can have an immediate effect.

And after being made into potions, the effect is even more amazing. That is the result of mixing the medicinal properties of different herbs, but this production process is different in various regions and for various medicines.

Mint, vanilla, Revival Herb... these are also common herbal items that need to be artificially cultivated. It would be very difficult to rely solely on wild foraging, and some specific herbs do not grow in all regions.

So, carrying various herb seeds with you when you go out, and planting them anytime, anywhere, is a very important thing.

Koutai himself also has some herb seeds. Every time he works in a new place, he leaves some after planting them, or he goes to the local pharmacies to buy them, and also buys some vegetable and plant seeds for future needs.

Seeds, unlike fresh vegetables, have a very long lifespan as long as they are stored well.

Koutai himself is not a herbalist, but even if he is not a herb expert, he can still make ordinary healing medicines. This is a local Sinnoh technique, using Heal Powder as the material.

"I should go to the village to replenish my stock."

In the original owner's memory, there should be pharmacists and craftsmen in the village. The pharmacists have medicinal fields, so he can go there to buy some herb seeds for replenishment, or transplant some herbs here, and also see if there are any rare herbs here.

As for ordinary crop seeds, he just needs to buy some from the villagers. To be honest, Koutai thinks he will stay here for at least a few months, so the source of food is very important.

Fortunately, it is now summer in Shinto, and the plants are greedily absorbing the warm air and growing wildly.

And besides buying seeds, he also needs to collect rags...

"Yo?"

Koutai turned around and saw the Honedge floating over.

Ghost Pokémon are also Pokémon, they are not real ghosts after all, and they also need to rest.

"Good morning, Honedge! Let's start working!"

"Yo!"

Honedge seemed a little excited, although it didn't know what to do at all, just asking:

Are we going to chop vegetables again?

"No, today we'll clean up the house first, and in the afternoon, we'll go to the village once."

The abandoned workshop has indeed been abandoned for a long time. After the original owner returned, he only used the living room, studio, and basement. There are four other rooms that have not been used, with old wooden chairs lying scattered and covered in dust. Just opening the door made people cough.

Honedge floated in, and a somewhat cold feeling enveloped it, making it feel very comfortable!

"Why are you so happy... Speaking of which, this house feels really uncomfortable. It seems that the information displayed is correct. The old house has bred resentment, and this is indeed a haunted place."

This is how houses that have not been used for too long are. Koutai looked at the layout of the first room: a rectangular table with some old glass bottles on it. Next to the rectangular table was a cabinet with three layers of shelves on top and two large drawers below.

Some metal utensils and medicine-making tools were placed on the shelves. Next to the cabinet was a small, long bookshelf with some old books that had long rotted, with broken or even detached spines.

"Looks like a pharmacy."

This was Koutai's first impression. Those bottles and jars, metal utensils, plus the rotten books, did fit the stereotypical image of a pharmacy. However, Koutai only touched those books lightly, and they seemed to immediately turn into ashes. That powdery feeling made Koutai give up the idea of taking one out to take a look.

These books haven't been touched for many years. A slight movement will cause them to "shed dregs", and it would probably be impossible to read them normally. But Koutai thought that book restoration is also a craft, and he wondered if he would ever have the opportunity to obtain this technique.

"After planting the herbs and harvesting them, I can come to this room to make medicines. There are many ready-made utensils here."

After that, the second room was quite empty. It looked like a forging room. The surrounding walls were also made of stone. At the end of the room was a medium-sized furnace, connected to a huge chimney. There were some old pipes around, covered in rust, probably no longer usable.

On the other side of the wall were some empty storage boxes, with some residual charcoal slag inside. The walls of this room seemed to be able to be opened. Koutai saw a wooden stake stuck in a wall that looked like a door panel.

Koutai saw Honedge float to the side and pick up a rusty wrench from a corner.

"I can do small-scale forging here in the future... It's just like a blacksmith shop in a game."

The third room contained some hardened lumps of soil, and some discarded pottery pots in very poor condition. Koutai picked up the pottery pots, and the knowledge of the ancient treasure hunter was activated at the same time, seeing the identification information on them.

[Craft: Discarded modern pottery pot.]

[Description: A completely failed craft, no one would buy it even if it was sold cheaply. Usually, this is garbage.]

Okay, nothing happened. These are just ordinary pottery pots that failed to be made.

"Is this a pottery room?"

Koutai went to the fourth room with curiosity. But the result disappointed Koutai a little. The fourth room was empty, with nothing in it. However, an empty room is the most convenient to clean.

The general cleaning started quickly. Koutai and Honedge organized and wiped those things that had been left behind, spending a morning cleaning all the dust in the house. In the process, Koutai discovered something strange.

Sure enough, sometimes deliberately observing makes it difficult to find good things, while unintentionally cleaning may clear out strange things from some corners.

It was a lump of light green clay emitting a faint glow.

[Rare Material: Light Clay]

[Effect: When a Pokémon holding it uses Light Screen or Reflect, the effect will last longer than usual.]

[Acquisition Craft: 1]

[Unique Pottery Firing Craft (C-): The pottery produced will retain the effects of the raw materials. Ground-type and Rock-type Pokémon will love the fired pottery and slightly enhance their type energy.]

In the game, Light Clay can be obtained by repeatedly digging in the underground passages of the Sinnoh region. Its rarity is "very rare."

"If I make pottery with this, will the pottery also glow?" A strange idea suddenly popped into Koutai's mind.

Clay is originally a material for making pottery. If I use Light Clay to make pottery...

"Is my pottery a mature pottery? Will it cast Light Screen by itself?"
