#64 - Chapter 64: Meeting after 200 years
"There are so many little dinosaurs here," Olga exclaimed.
She had lived on this island for so long, but this was her first time venturing into such a central part of the island.
"Can anyone really live in a place like this?"
They had come across so many dinosaurs along the way, and had to fight them off. This place was truly a paradise for dinosaurs.
"Don't overestimate the intelligence of these dinosaurs," Jin An said nonchalantly. "As long as you use your brain, it's easy to fool these dumb things."
"Huh?"
Olga, who had been eating fruit for two hundred years, thought: So the reason I haven't been able to eat meat for the past two hundred years is because I don't use my brain?
"I wasn't talking about you. Don't take it personally," Jin An quickly added, afraid that Olga would overthink it.
Olga responded with an annoyed look. Did he think she was three years old? He had already made it so obvious; how could she not understand what he meant?
Great, she seemed to have misunderstood him. He didn't mean it that way...
"Sigh!"
Two sighs sounded at the same time.
"What are you sighing about?"
Olga looked at Jin An beside her. She didn't think he had any reason to sigh.
"It wasn't me..."
Jin An spread his hands, indicating that he wouldn't take the blame.
"Then who could it be?" Olga asked in surprise. "Could it be...?"
"The person we're looking for is up ahead." Jin An pointed ahead with his chin, giving her the answer.
"..."
"Who's on the other side?"
A trembling male voice came from around the corner ahead. From the sound of it, the person was very excited.
"Is there someone else in Master Lantern's stomach again?"
A man wearing a dinosaur costume pushed aside the bushes and staggered over.
"Wow! The dinosaur is talking!" Olga hid behind Jin An.
"How rude!" The man lifted the pink veil. "Take a good look and you'll know I'm human."
Jin An: "..."
"Need to take a good look..."
The man's face was covered in fine beads of sweat, and his double chin jiggled, revealing his nervousness and exhaustion in this dangerous environment.
This man, who was usually optimistic, had become somewhat decadent and weak, as if he had lost the courage and confidence to struggle for survival.
"You're not mute, are you?"
The man shook his head, a hint of regret in his eyes.
"Uncle, you can't just say things like that," Jin An retorted directly.
"Then why didn't you say anything earlier?" The man smiled in relief. "It's been so long since I've talked to anyone like this..."
"You guys were also swallowed by Master Lantern?" The man straightened his clothes, trying to show his best side.
"Y-Your voice..."
Olga's trembling voice came from behind Jin An.
"Olga? Is that Olga?!"
The man looked excitedly behind Jin An, a voice he would never forget, even in death.
"Are you still alive?"
Tears streamed down the man's face like broken pearls as he stumbled towards Jin An.
But, just as he was about to see the figure behind Jin An clearly, his footsteps stopped.
He hesitated. His daughter had been living alone for over 200 years, and she hated him because of the pure gold. He didn't know how to face his child whom he hadn't seen for 200 years.
"Olga, don't hide. Isn't the person I brought you to see right in front of you?"
Jin An poked Olga's arm with his finger.
However, the girl didn't feel any joy or intimacy. Instead, a strong sense of resentment welled up in her heart.
"He's my father?" Her voice was full of anger and pain. "He created the pure gold, attracting pirates, and causing my mother's death!"
The man's face turned pale instantly. He couldn't deny the facts his daughter stated.
"I..."
He stammered, trying to explain, but the words were stuck in his throat.
Tears welled up in the girl's eyes as she finally released years of anger and sadness.
"Why did you do this?" Her voice trembled. "For what?! Didn't you know that your actions destroyed our family and ruined my childhood?"
"..."
The father was speechless, his heart was torn apart, and he was in great pain.
He knew that what he had done was an irreversible mistake, a pain that could never be healed.
"I'm sorry to you, sorry to your mother." His voice was full of regret and repentance. "I am willing to bear all the consequences for this."
The girl silently shook her head. Although her heart yearned to recognize her father, there was always a thorn stuck in her heart.
She chose to continue bearing the heavy resentment and pain, hiding behind Jin An and silently licking her inner wounds.
"It's better to talk some things out."
Jin An glanced deeply at the man, feeling the contradiction and pain in his heart.
"If you don't tell her the truth, the misunderstanding between you will never be resolved," he said. "Only the truth can bring everything back on track."
"What do you know?"
The man couldn't see the depth of the other party. In front of Jin An, he seemed to have no secrets to hide.
Jin An remained silent.
The man knew that Jin An didn't want to say it, so he didn't force it, but he was still a little hesitant in his heart.
"But that truth is too cruel for her..."
Jin An pulled Olga in front of him. "You've both lived for over 200 years. What else can't you say?"
The man was silent for a moment, and finally nodded: "Okay, I'll tell her everything."
His voice was low and vicissitudes of life, "No matter what the result is, I am willing to bear it."
"What are you talking about? Why don't I understand?" Olga was confused.
"I hope you can resolve the misunderstandings in your hearts and rebuild your relationship. After all, it's better for father and daughter to talk things out."
Jin An silently walked to the side and left this place to the two of them.
"..."
"So, you and Mom chose to create pure gold because I had a terminal illness?"
The girl stood there, dumbfounded, her heart surging like a storm.
"It's because of me?" Her voice trembled, her eyes filled with disbelief. "They did it for me..."
The girl's father was silent for a moment, then nodded gently, his eyes full of sadness and apology.
"Yes, it was for you," his voice was low and vicissitudes of life, "We couldn't bear to lose you, so..."
The girl's heart was torn apart, and she felt her whole world collapsing.
"I... I don't know what to say," her voice trembled, "What should I do?"
The man stepped forward and gently took the girl's hand.
"I will always be by your side, no matter what happens," he said, "You are not alone."
The girl felt her father's warmth and comfort, and her mood gradually calmed down.
Perhaps, facing the truth, although painful, at least she would no longer be alone in the future.
