Sherlock Holmes at Hogwarts
#8 - Two names
Mrs. Holmes was indeed happy to help.
But this was just one of the reasons she was so keen on assisting the Grangers.
As a mother, she knew her son's personality all too well.
Solitary, peculiar, and unsociable.
At his previous school, she had been plagued by this issue.
Although Sherlock had resolved the problem himself, the final outcome was far from pleasant.
So, if he could make friends before even starting school, it would be ideal.
Meanwhile, Sherlock had already greeted the little girl named Hermione.
Out of politeness, he also said to Mr. Granger, "Dr. Granger, it's a pleasure to meet you."
"Pleased to... Wait, how did you know I'm a doctor?"
Mr. Granger subconsciously agreed, but suddenly realized something was off.
He hadn't mentioned his profession during the introduction.
Mrs. Granger and Hermione, with her bushy brown hair, were also taken aback.
Seeing the Grangers' surprised expressions, Mr. and Mrs. Holmes exchanged smiles.
Of course, they weren't surprised at all.
After all, similar things had happened many times before.
However, Mrs. Holmes's smile quickly faded.
Because Sherlock didn't directly answer Mr. Granger, but turned to Mrs. Granger again:
"Mrs. Granger, I suspect my mother has pulpitis caused by tooth decay, but she's afraid of pain and doesn't dare go to the hospital. I hope you can help her."
Mrs. Granger's eyes lit up, and she immediately began asking about Mrs. Holmes's symptoms.
Mrs. Holmes glared at Sherlock, but still cooperated and began describing her condition to Mrs. Granger.
From the moment Sherlock was brought forward, Hermione Granger had begun observing him.
Sherlock had short black hair, gray eyes, and was taller than his peers, enough to attract attention at first glance.
Hearing him directly state his parents' professions now, she was even more surprised and couldn't help but take a few more glances at him.
That's when she noticed his rather slender, hooked nose.
"So big."
When Sherlock's sharp gaze turned towards her, Hermione, caught in the act, couldn't help but blush and quickly turned her head away.
The Grangers had arrived somewhat late after all.
Although the two mothers got along very well, the Grangers had to leave first to buy Hermione's school supplies as soon as possible.
However, before parting ways, Mrs. Holmes not only showed them the location of the Leaky Cauldron but also shared her shopping experiences from today with Mrs. Granger without reservation.
At the same time, Mrs. Granger also persuaded Mrs. Holmes to have a comprehensive periodontal health check-up before the official start of school.
The kind that wouldn't hurt.
Thus, the day in Diagon Alley came to a satisfactory end.
The following month was very fulfilling for Sherlock.
He didn't dwell on the Granger family.
His mother's pulpitis was indeed an unexpected bonus.
As for taking care of each other with Hermione at school, that was unnecessary.
Sherlock had always considered taking care of himself a troublesome matter.
And as for Hermione taking care of him, that was even more impossible.
Besides... with a little witch in tow, where would he find the time to explore Hogwarts?
During this time, he carefully studied how to use his new pet.
After a few tries, he discovered that, just as the pet store owner had said, owls could send letters and packages.
They seemed no different from postmen, but their speed and accuracy were much better.
He also gave his pet owl a name.
Watson.
Sherlock couldn't say why, but he just felt that this name was suitable for a long-term companion.
In addition, he also read all the textbooks and several other books he had purchased.
Through them, Sherlock finally had a systematic and macro understanding of the wizarding world.
Compared to Hermione Granger, the little witch, he was more interested in two other names.
One of them was Harry James Potter.
Whether it was "A History of Magic" from the school's required reading list, or "Important Magical Events of the Twentieth Century" and "The Rise and Fall of the Dark Arts" that Sherlock had purchased himself, all of them mentioned this name.
This little boy, the same age as him, was born on July 31, 1980.
He was called "The Boy Who Lived," "The Savior of the Wizarding World," and "The Only Nemesis of the Dark Lord."
As for why Harry Potter had these titles, it was due to another name associated with him.
That was the Dark Lord who was thwarted by Harry Potter.
According to the books, this was the most powerful and dangerous dark wizard in history.
To the point that when it was necessary to mention his name, many books directly referred to him as "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named."
Only a very few books would mention the name "Voldemort," and even then, it would often only appear once.
When it was necessary to mention him again later, it would become the Dark Lord or You-Know-Who.
Sherlock, a firm believer in science, found it somewhat incomprehensible.
This was truly a bit too outrageous.
Perhaps... this was the characteristic of the wizarding world?
In any case, because Voldemort was powerful and had many followers, he once ruled the wizarding world.
For the entire wizarding world, it was the darkest period in history.
However.
Where there is oppression, there is resistance.
The dark and oppressive rule aroused increasing dissatisfaction, and finally, a protracted war broke out between good and evil.
The person who led the white wizards in the great battle against Voldemort was none other than Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
This is also the reason why Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and Dumbledore himself have such a high status in the magical world.
This war was called the Wizarding War, and it lasted for a full 11 years.
The entire wizarding world suffered greatly in this war.
According to the books, if this war had continued, Voldemort might have truly ruled the wizarding world.
However, just as the Wizarding War entered its eleventh year, when Voldemort's power was at its peak, a turning point appeared.
October 31, 1981, Halloween Eve.
For some unknown reason, the terrifying Dark Lord came to Godric's Hollow.
It was a small village in southwestern England, a semi-wizard settlement named after the famous wizard Godric Gryffindor.
Harry Potter and his parents lived here.
Undoubtedly, the Potters were an excellent pair of wizards.
They were powerful and had once been active on the front lines against Voldemort.
Even so, when confronting Voldemort head-on, the Potters were still mercilessly killed by him without any suspense.
After killing the Potters, Voldemort pointed his wand at the only 15-month-old Harry Potter.
But.
The Dark Lord, who possessed immense power, had personally killed hundreds of people, and terrified the entire wizarding world, actually missed!
The powerful magic that had always been invincible had blasted the Potter's house into ruins, but Harry himself was unscathed.
In this way, Harry Potter became the only person to date who had survived under Voldemort's hand.
