Sherlock Holmes at Hogwarts

#9 - Long platform, long wait

The mysterious figure, the Dark Lord Voldemort, had vanished.

All that remained was Harry Potter, and a lightning-shaped scar on his forehead.

To this day, no one knows the reason why.

Regardless, it's an undeniable fact that the Dark Lord, who dominated the magical world, was defeated by an infant.

With this, the 11-year-long wizarding war came to an end, and the wizarding world was finally free from darkness and terror.

Because of this, Harry Potter became a household name and a hero before he even grew up, revered as 'The Boy Who Lived'.

Some even suggested making the day Voldemort disappeared 'Harry Potter Day'.

Of course, this request was ultimately not fulfilled.

But this did not affect Harry Potter's special status in the magical world.

According to the rules of the magical world, Harry Potter, the same age as Sherlock, would also be entering Hogwarts this summer of 1991.

Undoubtedly, compared to Hermione Granger, Harry Potter's appeal to Sherlock was much higher.

So, after learning about this history through books, Sherlock made a decision.

Quickly approach Harry Potter after the start of school, and use this important figure as a breakthrough to understand the magical world.

Sherlock had no doubt that if the world he was in was a novel, then Harry Potter, even if he wasn't the protagonist, would definitely be a very important clue figure.

As long as he was with him, all kinds of conflicts would definitely come to his door.

That way, understanding the entire magical world would become much easier.

Furthermore, compared to adults like Albus Dumbledore and Minerva McGonagall, it would undoubtedly be easier to open a breakthrough from Harry.

Of course, this is relative.

After all, with Harry Potter's household name recognition in the magical world, he should be a popular figure at school.

Maybe there will be a group of little fans running around for him, so it won't be easy to approach him then.

But the more it is like this, the more challenging it is.

Finally, the time came to September 1st.

On this day, Mr. and Mrs. Holmes sent Sherlock to King's Cross Station together.

Hogwarts is in the Scottish Highlands, this was Sherlock's deduction, and it was affirmed by Professor McGonagall.

But to travel by train... how should I put it?

To use Mr. Holmes's joke to evaluate, it would be 'Is taking a train to a wizarding school a bit ridiculous? Have they run out of magic carpets?'

What the couple couldn't understand even more was that the train ticket showed that Sherlock was to take the train leaving from platform nine and three-quarters at eleven o'clock.

As everyone knows, London's King's Cross Station only has platform nine and platform ten, and there has never been a platform nine and three-quarters.

Fortunately, Professor McGonagall was a responsible faculty member. While carefully telling Sherlock how to enter Diagon Alley, she also told him how to find this seemingly non-existent platform nine and three-quarters.

Ten o'clock, King's Cross Station.

A platform was hung with a large plastic sign with the number 9, and another platform was hung with a large plastic sign with the number 10. Naturally, there was nothing in between.

But Sherlock knew that platform nine and three-quarters was behind the wall between the two, and some special means were needed to enter.

The moment of parting had arrived.

Mr. Holmes smiled and waved to his son.

Mrs. Holmes turned away, her shoulders shaking constantly, obviously not wanting to face this moment of parting.

As a sentimental person, her performance was not surprising.

Mr. Holmes fully demonstrated the responsibility of the head of the family. After waving goodbye to Sherlock again, he hugged his wife's shoulders tightly and left.

Sherlock, who watched his parents leave, was not in a hurry to crash into the wall.

He first curiously stretched out his hand and touched it. It was solid to the touch, not a false illusion.

He also knocked on the wall brick, and the sound of 'dong dong dong' came, proving that it was not hollow either.

Looking down, obvious footprints and trolley marks went straight into the other end of the wall. Judging from the distance between the footsteps, these people were very forceful and hurried.

A smile appeared on the corner of Sherlock's mouth.

Now it seems that even without McGonagall's instructions, he knew how to enter.

Sherlock guessed that the wizards probably deliberately added this setting that can only be entered by quickly crashing into the wall in order to prevent non-wizards from accidentally entering in the event of slight contact.

There's nothing to say next.

Facing the wall, speed up, crash!

Sherlock didn't close his eyes, but still felt the darkness coming.

But this only lasted for a moment.

Soon, the view in front of him suddenly opened up.

Directly in front was an empty railroad track and a platform crowded with passengers.

Looking back, the place that was originally a partition wall had become a wrought iron archway, with a large sign that read Platform 9¾.

Interesting.

Sherlock showed a sincere smile.

Originally, he thought the owl letter incident was a prank.

Unexpectedly, it was the key to opening the door to a new world for him.

Sherlock was sure that from this Platform 9¾, he would not be bored for a long time to come.

Because he arrived a little early, the Hogwarts train had not yet arrived.

Sherlock could only wait on this long platform.

While waiting, he was not idle, but observed the wizards who were about to become his classmates one by one, analyzing their history and past.

In this way, the long waiting time was not boring.

[New student, the mother is a witch, and the father is an ordinary person engaged in the demolition industry, who only learned about his wife's identity after marriage]

[Old student, eager to express himself, outgoing, strong expressive ability, usually serves as a host]

[New student, parents are not around for unknown reasons, raised by grandmother, forgetful, timid, lacking self-confidence]

...

Just as Sherlock's gaze moved away from a round-faced little boy and his grandmother, and began to look for the next target.

A crimson steam locomotive roared in, and the sign on the train read: Hogwarts Express, eleven o'clock.

As soon as the train arrived, everyone rushed up.

The thick smoke from the steam locomotive parked on the platform swirled over the crowd. Soon, the first car was filled with students, followed by the second and third...

The students who boarded the train either leaned out of the windows to talk to their families, or played around in their seats, or sat in place with curious expressions looking around, and the surroundings were full of cheerful air.

Sherlock was not in a hurry to check in and board the train.

The target figure had not yet appeared, and before that, he would still wait.

Even if the wait was very long.

Finally.

When he saw a thin little boy pushing a heavy suitcase alone on the platform, Sherlock showed a satisfied look.

Finally waited for you!
