Chapter 10 Sorting Hat

"How are they going to put us in exactly which house?" Harry was asking Ron, behind Jacqueline.

"Always pass a test, I suppose. Fred said it hurt us a lot, but I think he was joking," said Ron.

Hermione was murmuring, rapidly reciting the spells she'd learned, unsure which one to use.

And Malfoy was feeling a little nervous, whispering, "Slytherin, Slytherin, Slytherin..."

Jacqueline felt a little regretful, she should take this opportunity to ask others what was going on with the sorting ceremony.

At this time, several people behind her screamed loudly. "That is..."

Jacqueline turned her head, and suddenly from the wall behind them, twenty or so ghosts popped out. These pearly white, translucent ghosts glide across the room, whispering to each other, paying little attention to the first-year students. They seem to be arguing about something.A chubby little monk-like ghost said: "Forgive, forget, I say, we should give him another chance..."

"My good friar, don't we give Peeves enough chances? But he's got us all ugly nicknames. You know, he can't even get a mere ghost . . . and I say, what are you doing here?"

A phantom in a ruffled bodysuit suddenly spots freshmen.

No one answered.

"Hello, Mr. Ghost." Jacqueline clenched her fists tightly, "We are freshmen."

"New students!" said the chubby monk, smiling at them. "I think, probably ready to be tested."

Some students nodded silently. "Hope you get a Hufflepuff!" said the Friar. "I used to go to that house."

"Move forward now," said a shrill voice. "The sorting ceremony is about to begin."

Professor McGonagall is back. The ghosts floated in file and disappeared across the opposite wall. "Now, stand in single file," Professor McGonagall said to the first-years, "follow me."

Jacqueline stood in the queue, following behind Hermione, and behind her was the round-faced boy Neville. They walked out of the room, through the foyer, and through a double door at the back into the luxurious dining room.

The breadth of this restaurant was beyond Jacqueline's imagination. She thought that the restaurant in her family that she often used to play hide-and-seek with Norm was big enough.

Students from other classes in the academy were already sitting around four long tables, above which thousands of candles floating in the air illuminated the dining room.Glittering gold plates and goblets stood on four tables. There is another long table on the table at the top of the restaurant, which is the teacher's seat.Professor McGonagall took the first-years over there and had them line up facing all the seniors, with the teachers behind them.Candles flickered, and the hundreds of faces watching them looked like pale lanterns. The ghosts also shone dimly among the students with dim dots of silver light. In front of her, Hermione whispered, "It's been enchanted to look like the sky outside, I read about it in Hogwarts, A History."

Could she have memorized the whole book? Jacqueline clicked her tongue. Besides, who would be idle to read a book like that?

Professor McGonagall gently placed a four-legged stool and a pointed wizard hat in front of the first-year students. The hat was patched, worn, and filthy, a bit like it had been blasted by its own mother.

The dining room was silent. Then the hat twisted. There was a wide slit in the brim, like a mouth. The hat began to sing:

You may think I'm not beautiful, but don't judge by appearances, if you can find a more beautiful hat than mine, I can eat myself.

You can make your bowler hats black and shiny, and your silk top hats smooth and crisp. I am the Hogwarts test hat, which is naturally much taller than your hats.

Any idea hidden in your mind can't hide from the golden eyes of the devil's hat. Put it on and try it, and I will tell you which college you should be assigned to.

You may belong to Gryffindor, where there are hidden bravery, whose daring, boldness, and boldness make Gryffindor outstanding;

You may belong to Hufflepuff, where the people are upright and loyal, and the students of Hufflepuff are stoic and honest, not afraid of hard work;

If you are shrewd, you may enter wise old Ravenclaw, and those wise and learned will always meet their fellows there;

Maybe you'll go to Slytherin, maybe you'll make sincere friends here, but the cunning and sinister will do whatever it takes to get their way.

Come put on me! Don't be afraid! Don't panic! In my hands (though I don't even have a hand) you are safe because I am a thinking hat!

After the hat finished singing, the audience burst into applause, and the hat bowed to the four dining tables one by one, and then stood still.

The first-years all breathed a sigh of relief, looking a lot safer in their top hats.

"So, we just have to put on this hat," Ron whispered to Harry up ahead, "I'm going to kill Fred, he sounds like he's fighting a giant."

Then Professor McGonagall took a few steps forward, a roll of parchment in hand.

"Whoever I call by name now puts on a hat, sits on a stool, and waits for sorting," she said. "Hannah Abbott!"

A rosy-cheeked little girl with two blond braids staggered out of the queue and put on her hat, which just covered her eyes. She sat down. After a moment's pause, "Hufflepuff!" the hat called.

The table on the right applauds Hannah and welcomes her to their table.Harry saw the fat friar ghost and waved to her happily.

"Susan Burns!"

"Hufflepuff!" the hat called again.Susan quickly ran to Hannah and sat down.

"Terry Boot!"

"Ravenclaw!"

This time the second table on the left clapped their hands. When Terry joined them, several Ravenclaws stood up to shake his hand.

Jacquiline found that sometimes the hat called out the house's name right away, but other times it took a while to make a decision. For example, Seamus Finnigan, a boy with light brown hair, sat on the stool for almost a full minute before the hat announced that he was assigned to Gryffindor.

"Hermione Granger!"

Hermione almost ran up to the stool and put her hat on her head hastily.

"Gryffindor!" the hat called, and Ron snorted. However, Jacqueline looked at the sorting hat. How does a hat know who to sort into which house? It will never have thought.

Neville Longbottom, the boy who was always missing his toad, was called by name, and he tripped as he ran towards the stool. It took the hat a long time to make up its mind about Neville. When the hat finally called out "Gryffindor", Neville ran away wearing it, and finally had to trot back amidst laughter to return the hat to Professor McGonagall.

When Malfoy's name was called, Malfoy swaggered over and got his wish instantly, screaming "Slytherin!" almost as soon as the hat touched his head.

Malfoy went to join his friends Crabbe and Goyle, looking very pleased with himself.

At this time, there were not many people left.

Moon Knott Parkinson followed by a pair of Patil twins and then Sally Ann Box

And when it was called, "Harry Potter!", there was a sudden humming and whispering in the dining room like the hissing of a small flame.

"Potter, is she calling Potter?"

"It's that Harry Potter"

What a celebrity, Jacqueline hugged herself tightly, she was almost the last few, to be honest, she still didn't think which college she was suitable for, if she could stay in each college for a while. . .

"Gryffindor!" The hat finally called out a name, and Harry took off his hat, walking towards the Gryffindor table with his legs trembling slightly. There was the loudest cheer in the dining room, and Prefect Percy stood up and shook his hand firmly. The Weasley twin yelled, "We've got Potter! We've got Potter!"

"Jacqueline Graham." Professor McGonagall finally called her name. Jacqueline took a deep breath, walked to the stool, and put on her hat.

"Well," he heard a small voice say next to his ear, "smart mind, a little cunning, and a little courage in my heart. Yes, you still have a very vague dream, which is very interesting. I should divide you up." where are you going?"

Jacqueline didn't know how the Sorting Hat saw the secret in her heart, the secret that even her mother hadn't told. She could only hold on to the side of the stool and think, "I'm going to make it happen, I'm going to make it happen."

"You're going to make it happen, aren't you?" said the small voice. "Have you made up your mind? Ravenclay can help you to greatness, there's no doubt about it. Make it happen? Well, now that you've made up your mind, Then go to Slytherin!"

The author has something to say:

In my hands (although I don't even have a hand) you're safe because I'm a thinking hat!

This sentence makes me cute every time
