Chapter 102 Time Converter

The north tower is some distance away from the classroom of arithmetic and divination. Jacqueline probably walked into the classroom by stepping on the bell.

"Welcome, welcome." Unlike Professor Trelawney, the teacher of arithmetic and divination, Professor Victor is a tall and thin old man, dressed in a neat dress, buttoned all the way to the neck, wearing a pair of Glasses with gold wire frames. There were only a few Ravenclaw students sitting sparsely in the classroom.

"You're probably," Professor Victor raised his glasses and searched the roster, "the only one from Slytherin, Jacqueline Graham. So," she put the glasses back on the bridge of her nose on, "We're only one step away from Gryffindor..."

"Sorry, I'm late." Hermione pushed the door open and came in. She was obviously taken aback when she saw Jacqueline.

"Miss Granger from Gryffindor." Professor Victor ticked off the roster with a quill. "Please sit down. Before you came, I was telling them," Victor put his wand on the podium, "this class is probably the only one that has nothing to do with magic at all. Yes, I have to disappoint you, this class doesn't require a wand at all, unless I use it to write on the blackboard." She seemed to be amused by herself. "Numerical divination is completely different from prophecy." She wrote four words of arithmetic and divination on the blackboard with a magic wand, "We will be more inclined to arithmetic, to be precise," he glanced at Jacqueline, "What this class requires is exactly the logic that many wizards lack. But I know that one of us here successfully solved Professor Snape's logic problem in her first year."

She paused and continued, "If you are still willing to sit here after listening to this, then I want to tell you. Numbers are magical. For the same event, different people will have different opinions. There are different explanations, so I hope you all respect the facts." She clapped her hands, "Okay, let me answer one of my questions first, why do some people in Europe think the number 13 is unlucky?"

"Because there are 13 Knights of the Round Table." A boy said.

"The day Jesus was crucified was also 13." This is obviously a Muggle answer.

"That's right, that's right." Victor nodded happily, "So, can anyone tell me that 13 is auspicious in the above situation?"

The whole group looked at each other, only Hermione's arm was erected like a pole.

"Miss Granger."

"In twelve digits," Hermione said loudly, "in twelve digits, 13 is equivalent to 1, so it can be considered a freshman."

"Very good, very good." Victor nodded in satisfaction, "5 points for Gryffindor."

"What is this hexadecimal system?" Jacqueline asked quickly, and the other students in the class nodded in agreement.

"Base 12." Victor wrote these words on the blackboard, "The simple explanation is to use 0 numbers from 11 to 12 to express."

Victor glanced at the completely confused students below, and smiled, "Think about the clock, my children, is there only 12 numbers on it? And our constellation, is it based on 12 constellations? A reincarnation? Yes, Miss Graham?"

"Then what do we use in our ordinary life, the base system? Also, if there is a 12 base system, does it mean that there are many other base systems, for example, there are seven days in a week, can it be considered as a base [-] system? system."

"Very good question, five points for Slytherin." Victor nodded in satisfaction, "The simplest answer is, yes, you can, and there are indeed many different bases in this world. And in our lives , the most commonly used is the decimal system.” Victor said and looked at the clock, “Today’s lesson is over,” she said, “The homework is to read Chapter 1, I hope that when I see you next time, You have a fairly good understanding of arithmetic. Miss Granger," Victor turned suddenly to Hermione, "you're from a Muggle family, aren't you?"

"Yes, Professor." Hermione straightened her back, as if it was an honor.

"You've learned the four arithmetic operations, haven't you?"

"Yes."

"Great." Victor smiled, "If anyone has problems with the four operations, I hope you can help."

Hermione's ears turned red suddenly, and she whispered yes.The bell rang for the end of get out of class, and they quickly packed their schoolbags and walked out.Jacquiline sprints to where she just used the Time-Turner, where she is disappearing.

"I'm going to wear myself out." She sighed and used the converter a second time.

Fortunately, the Muggle Studies course was not far from where she was. When she finally arrived at the classroom and was about to open the door, a figure hurried over and grabbed the doorknob.

"Sorry, I'm late." The man yelled, and when their eyes met, both of them froze. It was Hermione, holding her large, somewhat exaggerated schoolbag. "Why are you?" Hermione blinked, "Could it be that you also..."

At this moment the class bell rang, and Jacqueline opened the door to let Hermione in first.

There were fewer people in this room, only a man in an exaggerated, colorful skirt.

There were also several students from Muggle families.Seriously, you guys are here for the grades.

"Are you my students?" The man stood up, his green suit jacket already wrinkled. "Welcome to the Muggle Studies class. I'm Professor Alecto Carlo. I only work part-time at Hogwarts. My job is the Reversal Incident Team of the Ministry of Magic. I mainly deal with things between Muggles and Muggles. So I think it's best for me to teach you."

"I thought they would let a Muggle come over." Jacqueline said angrily, "Sir, what are you wearing now?"

"I'm glad you found out." Carlo smiled triumphantly. "This is a way of dressing in Wales. They like to wear this kind of clothing called skirts, regardless of men, women, or children. It should be cooler like this."

"Men, women and children?" Jacqueline raised his eyebrows and looked at Hermione. "Is it true? Do all the people of Wales wear this?"

"I think the professor meant kilts," said Hermione softly.

"Yes, yes," Carlo cried. "That's the name I heard."

"They wear this all day and night?" Jacqueline continued.

"Although it's mostly just important festivals, but..." Hermione's expression was a little embarrassed.

"Okay, okay, children." Carlo clapped his hands, "Although I like your discussion very much, we are here to study Muggles. If we want to study Muggles, we must know how Muggles treat us. attitude, in general, they are jealous, afraid, and at the same time envious of us. Because we can magically solve many of the problems they face..."

After finally making it to the end of get out of class, Jacquelin yawned, stood up, and was about to go to her Potions class.

"Did you also use the Time-Turner?" Hermione's thief-like voice sounded beside her.

"Miss Granger," Jacquiline replied, walking down the cellar, "can you ask questions with less obvious answers?"

"Okay." Hermione nodded briefly and forcefully, and turned to leave.

The author has something to say:

I found a bug later in the writing. Arithmetic divination is at the same time as protection of creatures. Muggle research and divination conflict. I don’t know how to change it here, so let’s just leave it at that. . .

When I got home from get off work today, an old man in front of me was holding hands with an old lady, holding hands carefully. Both of them were wearing short sleeves with "Harry Potter" printed on the top.Looking around in front of them, the old man is printed with Gryffindor, and the old lady is printed with Slytherin. All kinds of warmth.
