[HP] Complex Touch

Chapter 15 The Slap of Reality

"What would you like to say to Remus, dear?"

Secrets always have the power to drive people crazy. This is true whether you are the one keeping the secret or the one who is excluded from it.For Ginny, keeping a secret from her friends started to affect her life. She couldn't figure anything out after she went to the Gryffindor common room to find Remus, and that's the proof.

"I can't tell you, Sirius. I'm sorry, I really—"

However, Sirius behaved differently than anyone Ginny knew.He knew quite well that Ginny wasn't going to tell him her secret, and that one of his best friends was going to hear it, and he didn't even bat an eye.He smirked and brushed a lock of curls out of Ginny's eyes so she wouldn't feel guilty.

"We all have secrets. Remus is good at helping people organize their thoughts," he said softly.

The fireplace crackled and Ginny leaned towards Sirius, keeping her eyes on him.Last night, after Sirius held her in his arms, she was no longer afraid, and after that, she found herself yearning for his warmth. They sat in the Gryffindor common room, unaware that anyone else was looking at them, and they continued the conversation Sirius felt compelled to have.

"Thank you." Ginny replied softly.

Sirius nodded, lowering his gaze. His hands left her face, landed on her knees, and clenched them lightly.

"Just...promise me something?"

Ginny tilted her head, but nodded hesitantly.

"of course."

He opened his mouth and looked at her with gray eyes burning through his black hair.He didn't speak, but Ginny could feel his desire... his desire to protect her, his desire to keep her safe.

"Don't do that again. As much as I love sleeping with you, Ginny, I've never been so worried about anyone. I don't even know what to do with you."

Ginny showed a faint smile, and she couldn't help but leaned over and kissed Sirius on the cheek.

"You did a great job."

---

Ginny put her arms around Remus' waist, and she swore she could feel his ribs. His breathing was a little weak, and his skin was a little pale.Ginny bit her lip and helped him out of bed.His transformation last night had obviously not gone well, and he was weaker than usual. But when Ginny came to the school hospital looking for him, he wouldn't let her just leave. So, they're looking for a place to talk privately.

Ginny thought she was going to faint from the tension.

When they reached a white wall, Remus was breathing heavily.Ginny leaned him against another wall, and paced quickly in front of it, hoping for a place where they could talk without being interrupted.Remus watched wearily from the wall.

"Are you sure you don't want me to take you back to the school hospital?" she asked when a door appeared in the wall behind her.

Remus let out a laugh that sounded like a cough, and stood up straight.

"After already going through the castle?" He took a step towards Ginny, who rushed over and caught him again. "We're going to talk about what you want to tell me."

Ginny nodded, opened the door, and they walked in slowly.Fortunately, there were no students in the corridor at this time, most of them were eating dinner or rushing to do their homework.

There was a large sofa in the Room of Requirement, and Ginny helped Remus onto it.There were refreshments on the table in front of them, and several fireplaces lit the room. There is a window on the far side of the room, and the duo can watch the sunset.

"I've never been here," Remus said, wiping his forehead with a trembling hand. "James, Peter, and Sirius would love to come here. What's it called?"

"The Room of Requirement. Come, Remus, have some." Ginny handed him some bread.

"You sound like my mother," he said with a smile.

"Okay, be obedient, honey, or I won't let you go out to play." Ginny coaxed in a shrill voice.

Remus swallowed the bread in two gulps, put his legs on the sofa, and relaxed. He had a new scar on his neck, and the bright red scratches would take a long time to fade.Ginny frowned at them, but said nothing.

"Speak while you still have the courage."

Ginny nodded, she hesitated.

"Remus, I know you'll keep my secret as much as I keep yours," Ginny said softly.

Remus raised his eyebrows.

"Of course," he said.

"I also know that you'll think I'm a crazy woman, but you must listen to me!" The desperation in Ginny's voice shocked Remus, who sat up on the sofa.

"Ginny, I didn't imply that I wouldn't listen to what you had to say. I won't leave this room until you want me to."

Remus tried to touch her shoulder reassuringly, but she jumped. Her nerves were tense, and the words of McGonagall and Dumbledore echoed in her head.

"One important thing, Miss Weasley. Don't tell anyone you're from the future, you could ruin everything and risk your life. Dumbledore is the only one who knows, and even then, you can't tell him anything thing."

What if Remus didn't want to carry the burden she was throwing at him?He already had enough things to worry about. Why would he want to worry about her and her occasional nervous breakdown?Unaware that Remus was calling her name, Ginny took her hand and made her sit back on the couch.

"It's not just about love, is it?"

"Sometimes it's just too hard for me," Ginny said softly, looking at the fire. "I can only tell you."

Remus let his legs off the sofa and put an arm around Ginny's shoulders. He felt her trembling beside him, and then she rested her head on his shoulder. He reached out and gently wiped away the unshed tears from her eyes.

"I understand that feeling of utter hopelessness better than anyone, Ginny."

She took a deep breath.

"So you know you can tell me," Remus continued.

Ginny nodded, closed her eyes, and began to tell.

"I know everything. I know everything that's going to happen. There's a war brewing, and I know who's going to live and who's going to die. I know who's good...and who's bad."

She gasped and opened her eyes. She felt suddenly relieved, like the pressure in her chest had just gone, and she gave a chuckle of surprise.

"Are you a... seer? Is that what you mean?" Remus asked cautiously.

Ginny smiled at him and shook her head. She wiped away her tears and cupped his face.

"Remus, Remus, I'm from the future. I'm here from the future, and, besides, I've never been happier than I am now."

Remus looked at her, as if he didn't quite understand what she was saying. He shook his head, let go of her arms, and put them on his knees as if supporting himself.

"You just... you were serious, I could see it on your face. But I need you to explain to me quickly. Your family?"

"They're alive," Ginny explained. "They're alive, but far in the future."

"Are you serious? Are you from the future?" Remus took a long breath. "Why are you here, Ginny? Is that your name?"

"Yes, it's my name," she assured. "But I can't...I can't tell you why I'm here..."

Remus nodded and looked into the distance.

"You know what's going to happen in the next few months? And the war against Voldemort?"

Ginny nodded at him, watching his face, waiting for a reaction.

"You can help!" he cried, looking at her for the first time since she told him her secret.

Ginny froze as if struck by a curse, a fact she found difficult to deny. She finally regained her voice, shattering the hopeful boy's dream.

"If I do that, I'll ruin everything. The future is set and I can't bring myself to change it...otherwise, when I need to go back, I could ruin everything."

"Go back?" Remus looked surprised, his whole posture changed. "when?"

Ginny shrugged, confused as to why he cared most about it.

"I don't know," she said.

"Oh." Remus paused.

They were silent for a long time before Ginny leaned back on the sofa.Someone knew her secret, and she could finally talk to someone...a little bit of her secret. Her life is easier now.

"You know I'm a werewolf, right? That's why you didn't run away and tell all the students about me?" Remus asked softly.

Ginny took his hand.

"We know each other in the future?" He looked at her inquiringly.

"Yes."

They fell silent again. The sun was fully set now, and the only source of light in the room was the fireplace.A piece of wood burst suddenly, and the flickering flames cast strange shadows on the faces of Remus and Ginny.

"The future is not very bright, is it? That's why you are here."
