[HP Doujin] take care of you
Chapter 38 Ending
Her chest hurt, and a bead of sweat rolled down her forehead, itching her skin, and she wiped it off immediately, looking at Remus and Harry beside her.The elevator doors closed in front of her, and she was pretty sure a voice was speaking, taking them from one floor to the next, but Ginny couldn't concentrate. All she could think about was: they were going to be late, he had gone, he had left them again.
She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, knowing that they would arrive at the Department of Mysteries in a minute. Then what? What if Sirius is gone?Ginny panicked at the thought of being back inside the veil, and opened her eyes to find Remus looking at her. After discovering that Sirius was gone, James and Lily had somehow contacted the three of them, and the three had barely spoken. Each of them has a different mind.Remus was the calmer of them all, and he seemed ready to say what had been on his mind since they left Ginny's apartment.
"Look," he whispered quickly, ruffling his hair. "We have to reach a consensus before we get there."
They're almost there. She saw Harry turn with her to look at Remus.
"If Sirius didn't...if it happened..." Remus frowned and paused, considering his words. "He might not be there."
"Remus," Harry said cautiously. "We now know Sirius can be saved. We can enter the Veil and he won't get lost—"
"No!" Remus yelled, his voice echoing in the elevator.
Startled, Ginny looked at Remus sharply.Harry's emerald green eyes behind his glasses widened.
"I won't let you go into the Veil to find him," said Remus, pointing at Harry, then turned to Ginny. "the same as you."
"But we can save him," Harry tried again.
"And come back from injury?"
Whether he meant it or not, Remus' words stung Ginny. She looked down at the sneakers she was wearing.A shoelace is untied. She knelt down and tried to fasten it again.
"It's Sirius' choice. I'm not going to let any of you risk your life, or your sanity, or anything to save him. Not anymore."
He is right.Ginny stood up, noticing Harry gave Remus a slight nod despite looking annoyed.Harry knew what happened to Ginny and Sirius after they returned from the Veil.Maybe he realized that Remus was right.Maybe Harry knew that he now had something to live for.Pansy and Teddy and the others, he didn't need to risk his life to save others. She looked her old friend in the eyes and bit her tongue.Injuried?Injuried.Both she and Sirius were injured, which was why they were in this situation.
Ginny clenched her fists and glanced at Harry, who was staring firmly at the elevator doors, hoping they would open now, now.Doesn't the elevator realize the seriousness of the situation?Ironically, Harry and Ginny headed to the Department of Mysteries again to rescue Sirius, this time with Remus' help. This time, however, there is no Voldemort or Malfoy. No misleading information or vague plans.Just Sirius and his reckless decisions.
Ginny couldn't help wondering if it was all her fault. The only reason she knew Sirius risked his life (and would lose it, a voice whispered in her head) to re-enter the Veil was because he couldn't be by her side. That's the only reason. While it was literally a romantic affair, Ginny was sure the stress was making her sick. And Harry and Remus, would they blame her?Harry was about to lose his godfather again, just as Remus was about to lose his best friend. If only she hadn't become friends with the Reaver, if she hadn't gone to Hogsmeade late at night with James and Sirius, if she hadn't looked into his gray eyes the next morning...
Ginny had had so many opportunities to end her growing friendship with the boys, to stop her feelings for Sirius from taking hold. But she is selfish. This is a fact she cannot deny.Even if she returned to her own time and space, she still wanted everything, still wanted Sirius, still wanted to be the same as before.
"marry me."
What if she married him and didn't come home? If, if, if—
The door opened and Harry rushed out first.Ginny followed suit, her heart beating faster again at the thought of reality. She was tired and her knees were weak, but luckily for her, the many Quidditch practices she had participated in had made her body used to being pushed to the limit.Because Kingsley gave Harry unlimited security clearance, they breached the security system and Apparated directly to the Ministry of Magic.Remus yelled at the guard: "Get the healer right now! And Severus Snape! Tell him Ginny sent for him!" acted. Then they ran into the elevator, gasping for air, with only a brief moment to let their bodies relax.
Ginny looked back as she ran, and saw Remus lagging behind. He waved her to keep running, and she looked back at Harry, who naturally grabbed her hand and pushed open the door to the room with revolving walls. The door closed behind them, and the room was still spinning. They were both panting, and Harry, holding his wand in his other hand, walked forward.
"They need to change the layout of this room," Harry whispered hoarsely.
Ginny glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, and squeezed his hand. She was terrified that they would have to waste time, going from room to room like Harry was doing now, but she remembered the last time she had been here.It had been chaotic, and Severus had distracted the Ministry officials, allowing Ginny to enter the Department of Mysteries, but she still remembered the feeling... the tug of the arch.
"Wait a minute, Harry," she murmured, closing her eyes.
There seemed to be a separate pulse in her body, beating in the opposite direction of her heart, and she brought her wand hand to her chest. The curtain seemed to beckon to her just as she remembered it.really weird.
She turned and pointed to a door on the right.
"The door?"
Harry walked to the door Ginny was pointing at, imitating Hermione's fourth year; marked the door with an X.When he finished marking, Remus entered the room, closing the door behind him.The wall rotates again, and the red X becomes blurred, eventually stopping to the far left of them.Three people ran over.Harry, who arrived first, flung open the door and walked in.
"Sirius!" he called.
Ginny bumped into Harry from behind and wanted to look over his shoulder.Harry ran down the steps, his eyes fixed on the draperies. His wand light was very bright in a dark room.
"Sirius!" he called again.
But Sirius wasn't in the room.Ginny wasn't sure if he was here before they arrived. But he is not here now.
Remus ran past Ginny, caught up to Harry, and grabbed his upper arm.Harry stopped immediately, his eyes wide open, panting heavily.Ginny followed them slowly, toward the Veil. With every step she took toward the arch, that single pulse beat faster. As much as she wished she couldn't hear it, she could still hear the whisper.
"Don't get too close—Harry, come here and sit down."
Harry collapsed pale on a stone bench. He shook his head helplessly.
"Maybe we guessed wrong?" Harry asked.
"Perhaps," Remus replied, taking Harry's shoulders.
But Remus didn't look so sure.He looked around the great room, as if trying to find his friend behind some bench.Ginny paused before the curtain. If only she could see inside. The veil seemed to hear her thoughts, and its black curtains floated toward her, reaching out to her.
"Ginny?" She looked at Remus through the archway. "Remember what I said."
"I'm not going back," she promised.
Really?Maybe.Ginny could not imagine facing the Veil again. What else could she give in exchange for Sirius now?She had given it her hope, Sirius had given his health. She knew it would want something she couldn't part with. And, as Remus had said, she'd be hurt even worse when she got back.Sirius too.
She felt her lips tremble, and brushed the damp curls from her face with her hands. How can he go back? How could he do this to her? It's not fair. Why do inanimate things always seem to be controlling her life; diaries, time-turners, veils? It's not fair.
"He won't go in again," Harry said loudly. "He won't leave me like that again."
Just as Remus was about to answer, Ginny overheard. The whisper about the veil seemed louder, and before that it had been almost like a buzzing in the back of Ginny's head. She raised her eyebrows and looked towards the arch. She recognized a voice she had just heard in the dream. But it's impossible. She had never heard his voice when she was near the arch before. She didn't realize that she took another step forward, trying to hear the whisper, trying to figure out if James was really talking to her again...
"I'm sure the Reticents are in contact now, and they'll help—" Remus says in the background.
Out of the corner of her eye, Ginny saw Harry put his head in his hands.Remus crouched beside him, patting the young man's shoulder reassuringly.Ginny looked at the arch again, and took a step toward it.
Everything grew warm; her body and the air around her seemed to blur. The closer Ginny got to the arch, the faster everything disappeared, which was odd.Harry and Remus panicked and tried to calm each other down, but they were no longer a few steps away from her.Don't worry, don't worry at all.Because she could hear James' voice clearly now.Even if James led her towards the arch, closer than she wanted, closer than Remus would allow, he would never lead her astray.
"Don't panic, everything will be fine, come here, Ginny."
And Lily's voice, gentle and sweet.
"Ginny, Sirius needs you. One more step. Don't worry, everything will be fine."
"Sirius needs you, Ginny."
"James? Lily?" she whispered, holding out her hand to the arch. "Sirius?"
Ginny could feel the warmth of James, as if he was standing right behind her, guiding her with his own arm towards the drapery. She wants to close her eyes and be with her long-lost friend forever, but finds she can't.
She awoke from the dream, heard Remus' shout, knew Harry jumped from the bench, and felt her body tense, but her hand was already reaching for the arch.No sooner had Ginny's arms reached the barrier between this world and the world of the Veil than her eyes widened and her mouth opened. She tried to pull her arm back when something cold grabbed her hand. She cried out, feeling it trying to drag her deep into the veil.
"Ginny!"
Remus clung to her arm that was thrust into the drapery, her entire forearm was already in, and Harry grabbed her other hand, trying to pull her back, but to no avail.Something that grabs her from the other side and doesn't let go.She was going back to the veil.Ginny panicked and tried desperately to break free.
"Help me, help me," she cried. "Remus, something's grabbing me!"
"Ginny, don't—we've got you, don't go in—"
The thing holding her was cold, and Ginny struggled desperately to let it go.But she realized that it wasn't some kind of magic that was holding her. That is a hand.A hand grabbed hers, cold and familiar.Ginny stopped struggling, wondering what the hell was going on.But in an instant, she was drawn closer to the arch.
The cold spread from her hands to her arms, paralyzing her body. She felt like her blood was freezing; it hurt.Ginny gasped, but couldn't cry out, the coldness spread from her arms to her neck and down to her chest. She wanted to pull her hand back, but couldn't.It was useless, she was about to fall in, and the coldness spread all over her limbs.Remus was swearing, and Harry was panting, saying something Ginny couldn't understand. The cold had stiffened her muscles, and Ginny knew that was it.
Her vision went black, it hurt, she felt like she was falling (not forward, not forward anymore, not into the veil).Ginny couldn't save herself, and neither could Sirius.
Sirius Sirius Sirius Sirius Sirius.
"I want to know, too, that I did try my best. Because I love you. I really do. You're driving me crazy, and you may not admit that you love me, but Ginny, the only thing in my life is Several people really love me, and I can see it in your eyes, you are one of them. I don't want to lose you. So let's work hard together."
