"That night, the night of the Department of Mysteries," Teddy said. "My dad was there too and he wouldn't tell me what happened."

Of course not Remus, Ginny thought with a smile. How can he?

"We're all family, right?" He leaned forward, watching her smile. "Uncle Sirius and you... you two are the bravest people I've ever known. I wish I could be you when I grow up."

Ginny felt her heart tighten as she looked at her godson. For a long time Teddy had been her only child; he had been seen as a new generation, a new hope.He grew up listening to stories of war and reconstruction. He'd heard whispers about how everyone was affected. In the end it was he who came to ask her what had happened that night, and Ginny wasn't surprised. That night in the Department of Mysteries changed everything.

But how could she explain it; there are some things that she doesn't quite understand, can only theory explain it?

"You know the basic story—"

"Uncle Sirius fell into the veil and returned before the final battle." Teddy nodded. "He disappeared for many years. You rescued him. Then a few years later, he re-entered the Veil."

Ginny would never forget her panic that night, but it was one of the few things she remembered.

"Why did he return to the Veil?"

Ginny shrugged helplessly.

"He's sick. At least that's what the Unspeakables told us. You see, Teddy .

"How did you know that?"

"we do not know."

This is real.As the days passed, the trio's memory of what happened that night became more and more blurred. Now, 15 years later, apart from Sirius re-entering the Veil, almost no one knows why they went to the Department of Mysteries that night.Nobody knew how they knew he was in again.Even the Reticent Man, who had recorded everything that happened that night, didn't know how the three of them knew to rescue Sirius.

"Why is Uncle Sirius sick?" Teddy asked, making notes on the parchment.

"The Reticent Man said that the influence of his first entry into the veil is a kind of continuous magic."

"Are you sick too?"

Ginny shook her head.

"I do not remember."

Teddy tilted his head.

"I don't remember you ever being sick," he thought, narrowing his eyes. "Why is he sick and you are not?"

"Teddy," said Ginny, a little annoyed. "There are many things we don't know about the Veil. There are many questions I can't answer, so no one has ever told you about these things."

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I know. I always thought people didn't tell me it was because I was just a kid."

"We don't have an answer for you."

After a moment of silence, Teddy leaned forward, ready to continue asking questions.

"What happened the night you went to rescue Uncle Sirius for the second time?"

The way Teddy said Sirius' name showed how much he loved his godfather.Ginny looked down at the table and swallowed. There was a burst of laughter outside, but it didn't calm Ginny down.Whenever she thought about that night in the Department of Mysteries, she panicked and her heart started beating wildly. She would often feel as if a cold hand was grabbing her, filling her with ice.

"I don't remember much," she said honestly, looking up at her godson. "I remember Sirius—he's gone. We thought he might not have re-entered the Veil...but he did. I remember this."

He's gone, he's gone. She was out of breath, and he was gone again—

Teddy held his breath as she spoke.

"I remember Harry and Remus sitting down and talking, comforting each other."

"He won't go in again. He won't leave me like that again."

She must have been stuck in the memory, silent for too long, because Teddy reached out and took her hand.

"Aunt Jin?"

She blinked and looked at him.

"We don't have to talk about this...I know it's hard for you," Teddy said.

Ginny shook her head.

"You should know. But there's only so much I can tell you. I remember the Veil. I remember walking towards it, like it was something I was supposed to do... and then I don't remember anything. Sometimes, if I Trying to remember, being able to remember someone calling my name and then someone or something grabbed me. But that's about it."

"And you woke up?"

"Yes, on the floor in the other room." Ginny sighed. "Severus is taking care of me—"

"Professor Snape?" Teddy asked in surprise.

"Correct."

Thinking of Severus, Ginny looked again at the kitchen window. She heard him explaining something to the children outside.Teddy frowned and followed her gaze.

"Obviously, we called the guards to find a healer and Sev-Professor Snape to help us."

"why?"

Seeing her shrugging, Teddy nodded in understanding.

"Why do you think you don't remember what happened that night?"

Ginny bit her lip.

"Hermione - Aunt Hermione thinks it's part of the veil magic - it erases our memories."

"I'm going to repeat the question again," Teddy said, with a forced smile. "But why would it do that?"

"Hermione thinks it has something to do with continuing to keep the Veil mysterious, unknown, dangerous. No one in their right mind would go in there knowing what the Veil does."

"Except you and Uncle Sirius."

"Yes." She said with a smile.

"You did it for Uncle Sirius."

"Yes." Ginny agreed again.

"So the veil took your memory of it? You don't remember anything?"

"Almost." Ginny sighed. "I remember how I felt that night. I remember how torn I was when Sirius came back before the final battle, but it wasn't just about the Veil."

"Because of your relationship with Uncle Harry?"

Ginny raised her eyebrows.

"You did the research."

Teddy smiled sheepishly.

"I remember a lot of things from my childhood," Teddy said, shrugging apologetically. "I've heard a lot."

"You were so young." Ginny sighed. "But that's all I remember."

She felt dizzy.Ginny closed her eyes, her muscles cramped, and it was hard to move. She was breathing hard, as if something was pressing on her chest.Everything was hard, so hard, what happened to her—

"Do you think you've re-entered the Veil?"

She could hear the breathing of others.footsteps.run.shouting.Someone moved around her, □□, reaching out to her.The man grabbed her arm and she opened her eyes again.

"Ginny? Ginny, are you okay?"

She couldn't concentrate.

"Lupine, get out of the way."

Someone cupped her face, and she saw a vague silhouette... Severus...

"I'm not sure. It's possible."

"Dad doesn't remember anything either. I mentioned it to Uncle Harry and he said he just remembered waking up on the floor too."

Ginny rubbed her eyes wearily. Her fleeting memories of that night left her exhausted. She tried not to think about that night, pretending it never happened. It was as if the veil didn't want her to think about it, making the process so exhausting that it wasn't even worth thinking about.Ginny didn't usually think about that night either. She tries not to.

"Stiles, can you hear me, Stiles?"

It must have been Severus holding her face. She moaned and he poured some potion down her throat.Ginny tried to free her head from his grasp, but she realized immediately that it was too much effort for her. There are indistinct, panicked shouts in the background.

"Is she all right? Is Ginny all right? We need you over here, Severus—"

"Stiles," Severus said softly. "Genevia. You need to let me know you're okay, or I wouldn't have kept you here."

Ginny groaned again, but her vision gradually became clearer. She saw Severus' piercing black eyes watching her.She could feel the cold floor beneath her.She could feel his warm hands on her face. There was still some potion on her lips, which she licked with her tongue.Severus shook his head, eyebrows raised warily at her gesture.

"I take that as an affirmative answer?"

She nodded.

"Does this help you?" Ginny asked.

Teddy nodded and stopped the pen in his hand. Then he shrugged.

"At least I know you're not lying to me when you say you don't know what happened," he said with a smile. "I thought they were trying to protect you."

Severus left her, and Ginny tried to sit up.Her muscles were protesting against her, and she felt dizzy. She paused and took a moment to gather herself together.Although she felt as if her body was under the most severe curse, she somehow felt something different, as if something had been lifted from her body.It was a strange feeling...but she felt free.

"Is he all right? Snape, please, can you help him?"

It's Harry.Hearing his panicked voice, Ginny looked over immediately. Before she could think, she had already acted.Because Sirius was lying on the floor over there.

"We protect each other, Teddy. That's family...but we'll never lie to you."
