Chapter 23 The Subtle Finale

Just as the three of them were staring straight at the magic mirror, footsteps came from behind.

It wasn't just Headmaster Dumbledore who walked in.And their dean, Professor McGonagall, Potions professor Snape, and Defense Against the Dark Arts professor Roald.Dumbledore seemed satisfied with a smile on his face.McGonagall had a sullen face, not knowing whether she was unhappy with Dumbledore's arrangement or worried about her students.Snape's face was expressionless, and Harry knew he was really worried for his safety, but that usually only led to the opposite conclusion from that stinky face.

There was no worry on Roald's face. "Who cast the Stunning Charm on my Norse Fanged Dragon?" he asked, his tone clearly disapproving. "Dragon skin is tough enough to deflect most spells."

Hermione was shocked: "...your Venomous Dragon?" Harry came back to his senses, he was a little embarrassed, he had become a habit of using the Stunning Charm, so how could he remember these things: "It's me, sir."

Roald looked like he was about to say something more, but Dumbledore interrupted him by raising a hand: "I think this can be saved for the next semester's class." He winked at Harry, "I personally I feel that it is already quite remarkable that they can get here through the many barriers we have set up."

Hermione was even more surprised: "...you... here is..."

Dumbledore smiled at her. "Yes, this is where we protect something," he looked up at the ceiling, "but it doesn't look very reliable, does it?"

Just pretend!thought Tom.

Is the headmaster still unwilling to tell him?It would be a lie, Harry thought, to say he wasn't disappointed.

Dumbledore seemed to be waiting for Harry to ask a question, but Harry was already on the verge of saying anything.Hermione seemed to want to ask, but she looked at Tom and Harry who were silent, and chose to do the same.

"Can we go back then?" Harry asked at last.Dumbledore looked at him for a while, and a smile appeared on his face again: "Of course." He turned to Professor McGonagall, "Minerva, can I trouble you to take the three of them back to the tower? By the way, ask the kitchen to deliver three copies." Dinner is over."

Professor McGonagall nodded.Harry felt Snape's eyes follow him as the three of them passed through the flame-extinguished door.He also caught a glimpse of Professor Roald patting Tom on the shoulder. The truth of the matter made him unhappy, but he couldn't complain to Sirius or anyone just yet.

By the time they were enjoying their dinner in the Gryffindor common room, Hermione perked up and started pulling them along to discuss what had just happened. "Professor Sprout set up the devil's net; Professor Flitwick grew wings for the keys and let them fly on them;" she analyzed clearly, "Professor McGonagall cast a transformation spell on those chess pieces, Get them moving; the Norwegian Venomtooth, that's what Professor Roald set up - anyway, he actually got a dragon! And Snape, with those potion logic tests he did..."

"Yeah," Harry agreed, and Hermione was smart.

"Speaking of which..." Hermione looked at the two of them in turn, "I don't know yet... What did you see in the mirror?"

Harry froze. "I saw my family," he said quickly, wishing secretly that his blushing would stop.

Hermione obviously felt she had asked a stupid question, referring to Harry's grief. "Well," she changed the subject, "Tom, what about you?"

"Just like Harry," said Tom succinctly.

Hermione almost wanted to dig a hole in the ground and bury herself in it.How could she forget that these two were orphans?Just mentioned this question!

"Then what are the professors trying to protect? It can't be the mirror, although it does have some special functions..." Hermione found another topic, "I don't know..." She turned to Harry and Tom, "Aren't you all curious?"

"I don't think Dumbledore would tell us even if we asked." Harry said reluctantly, before he recovered.

"I think so too." Tom spread his hands.

Hermione was clearly disappointed. "Oh, well," she was a little fidgety, "Since I'm the only one who wants to know, and it's a secret... I think I should go to bed early and forget about these things." She finally took a few casual bites , and then climbed up the stairs of the girls' dormitory with the book in his arms.

Harry felt that he could understand Hermione's mood very well, thinking how long he had been hooked.Tom next to him also stood up, "I'm done." He glanced at Harry's empty plate, "Want to go up together?"

Harry suddenly felt cramped. "No," he stammered, "I'd like to read a book first." He's now overjoyed that Tom won't be using Remembrance (he doesn't know it's wishful thinking on his part), or else he'll find him in The scene seen in the magic mirror, can they still be friends?

Seeing that he took out a "Basic Defense Against the Dark Arts Tutorial", Tom pursed his lips and went upstairs without saying anything.Harry noticed that his lips were thin. When his figure disappeared around the corner, Harry immediately buried his head on the table: It's over, over, how will he get along with Tom in the future?

Tom put his hands in his pockets and walked slowly to the door of the dormitory. He was thinking about a question, why is the savior a little weird?

Without the possessed professor, without the frequent bouts of scars, Harry successfully watched the last Quidditch match of the semester.Ravenclaw House won, to be exact, Gryffindor lost a... bleak, eighty to two hundred. They have never found a suitable Seeker. "We can win by a big score!" Seamus Feeney said angrily, "As long as we catch the Snitch first!"

In addition, without Norbert, and without the 150 points deducted from their previous night tour, Harry thought that their college would not be at the bottom this time.As a result, during the year-end banquet, they walked into the auditorium and found that the hanging ribbons were half green and silver, half gold and red, and the huge Slytherin snake and the majestic Gryffindor lion faced each other on both sides.

"What's going on here?" Harry was stunned, and hurriedly asked Hermione.

Hermione gave him a strange look: "Today we are tied with Slytherin House, don't you know that?"

"Uh..." Harry was at a loss for words, could he say that he hasn't been thinking about it recently? "A lot of that is due to you, Hermione..." he hastily added.

Hermione smiled, "You also added ten points." But she immediately put on a straight face, "Harry, Tom, look, it's only close... just one more point, and we can beat Slytherin!"

Harry knew Hermione had been critical of him and Tom for not being active in class. However, he remembered that Professor McGonagall had given him ten points in the Transfiguration class, and he was secretly happy in his heart. This became a key factor in the duel between Gryffindor and Slytherin, otherwise they would have come second.

Tom didn't say anything, just glanced at Harry.Harry felt as if he could see that he was secretly having fun, so he quickly straightened his expression and pretended to be listening to Dumbledore's speech seriously. The House Cup was awarded, and Snape was shaking hands with Professor McGonagall. His eyes met Harry's, then turned away immediately. It seemed he didn't hate him as much as before, Harry reassured himself.

The test results will come out soon.

Harry passed the exam with high marks.Grade No.1 is Tom, which completely overturned everyone's previous views. He has never been quiet and made a blockbuster.Hermione secretly asked Professor McGonagall, and the answer was that Tom got full marks in every subject.Professor Binns said that no one had answered the name of the leader of the Goblin Rebellion for more than 50 years.

The Gryffindor trio was now completely famous.A savior and a first-class student are already very eye-catching, and now there is another one who looks smarter-in fact, people only realize this. When they walked on the road, more people saluted them, especially girls.

"God knows how attractive a smart, cold and handsome boy is to them!" Hermione was impatient, and they had already boarded the train home by then.

After hearing this, Harry turned his head to look at Tom beside him. The latter was leaning against the window and looking out, leaving him with half a handsome profile.

"Yeah... I'll pass me soon!" he added, trying to sound like he was joking.

"That's up to you." Tom replied immediately without looking back.

Hermione chuckled. "I guess I will be killed by all the girls who have a crush on you a hundred or eighty times in my heart." She nodded her chin towards the door of the box, and there were always people outside who stopped and tried to look inside, "Do I need to spend more time during the summer vacation?" Learn a few self-defense spells, maybe they will be useful next semester?"

"I don't think so." Tom looked away from the window and said lazily, "These people are so boring."

"Oh, they'll be sad if they hear about it," Hermione teased him deliberately.

Tom spread his hands, noncommittal, it seemed that he was really not interested, and couldn't get any energy up.

Harry felt the beast inside him cheer. In order to hide this emotion, he changed the topic: "You guys have to write to me during the summer vacation, so that I have something to look forward to."

The three of them came across the Weasleys as they walked towards the exit together. The little red-haired girl was still very excited to see Harry.Molly Weasley took the younger daughter's hand to keep her from pointing at Harry.Harry felt he had to thank Mrs. Weasley for the toffee and sweater for Christmas, so he said goodbye to Hermione Tom and walked over.

Harry felt awkward being watched so eagerly by the much smaller Ginny Weasley than he remembered. And all the while he was talking to Mrs. Weasley, he had the feeling that someone was staring at them. When they were done talking, Harry looked back, only to see a huge crowd.

The summer had gone better than Harry remembered, perhaps because he hadn't bothered to tell the Dursleys about the various things he'd encountered at Hogwarts. While he's still cleaning cars, mowing lawns, painting garden benches, and more, it's not like he's staying up late and getting dizzy in the sun.

But he found something different.Once, as he was lying under a hedge, he saw two feet appearing and disappearing out of nowhere, apparently a wizard Apparating near the Dursleys' house.Mrs Figg called him to tea now and then, and Harry wished she would give it up.

The letter from Sirius said that he hoped that Harry would not run around and stay at No. [-], Privet Drive, as it might be dangerous outside. He and Dumbledore still didn't know that Harry knew the situation better than they did, so Harry figured he happened to see some Order member on patrol.Hermione wrote to him often, which pleased him.As for Tom, Harry guessed he was having a good time with Professor Roald in West Ireland, and his letters were short. But when he saw Harry complaining that the Dursleys never let Hedwig go out hunting and delivering messages, he had Professor Roald—Harry guessed it—cast Hedwig an invisibility spell and silence. curse. It was easier to get out now, but Harry had to fumble in the air for a while every time he sent or received a letter.

Soon it will be his birthday. The Dursleys still had a big client on that day, and Harry didn't expect them to remember his birthday. This time the letters are normal, and the diary is already in his hands, so probably nothing will happen. After dinner, Harry really thought so when he opened the door of his room, so he was surprised to see the same elf sitting on the bed as last time.
