The Admiral of Hogwarts
#407 - Bad environment
From the Weasley twins, Hugo also understood why only part of the house had been cleaned up; there were clearly not enough people to do the job.
Although many people were coming and going in this house, most of them were members of the Order of the Phoenix, who were there to do specific tasks, so naturally, they didn't have much energy to spare for cleaning.
Although Mrs. Weasley could help in this regard, with so many people coming and going, needing meals and rest, just maintaining the logistics was a challenge, leaving little energy for cleaning.
As for Sirius Black, the owner of the house, besides completing Order of the Phoenix missions, he spent any free time with his godson, Harry, so naturally, he wouldn't have much energy to focus on cleaning.
"We've been working non-stop since the first day we arrived, and we've been doing more work than anyone else," Fred and George said, taking turns, after Hugo showed he was willing to listen about the situation.
"No one has lived here for ten years, not since Sirius's mother passed away. All that's left is a crazy, old house-elf in this house."
"So, we at least need to clean the house to a livable standard. After all, this place will become the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix, and it certainly can't look so dreary as it does now."
"Okay, but you just mentioned a house-elf—" Hermione asked, because the house-elves she had seen before kept the places they served spotless, and their magic was enough to allow them to complete most of the housework, even when they were very old.
"Don't even mention it," Sirius said with a look of disgust as he walked up from the stairs. "Kreacher is capable of surprising you with what he can do, if he wanted to. But he's been driven mad by my mother and her portrait."
"Now, he won't touch any housework, except to curse me like a madman and do strange things. All the work in the house these past few days has mainly been done by the Weasley youngsters."
It seemed that, for Sirius, cleaning the house was definitely a very troublesome matter. Fortunately, the Weasley family had arrived in time to help, otherwise, they might not even have been able to get a hot meal.
"Why are you back so early today?" the Weasley twins asked with puzzled expressions upon seeing Sirius walking over. "Where's Harry?"
"I've already picked up Harry; he's downstairs now," Sirius said to the Weasley twins with a smile. "After all, a month has passed, so I brought him over as soon as possible."
For Sirius, who was now a free man, besides being busy with the various tasks assigned by the Order of the Phoenix, he spent most of his time with his godson, so as soon as a month was up, he immediately brought Harry back.
"It seems Umbridge won't be able to use Dementors to frame Harry this year," Veneto said quickly through the Admiral Network. "At least, I can't think of any way she can continue to frame Harry now."
"You're right, but that doesn't mean that nasty piece of work will give up on Dumbledore or people related to Dumbledore. Just watch, she will definitely make a move during the summer."
Hugo, however, didn't think Umbridge would stop. After all, her main target wasn't Harry, but to attack Dumbledore by finding fault with Harry. Therefore, if she couldn't attack Harry, she would definitely find another way.
"You're right, but that has nothing to do with us," Veneto said nonchalantly. "Moreover, we can just watch this kind of struggle; there's no need to get involved and make trouble for ourselves."
"Yes, you're right, we don't need to get involved in this kind of thing," Hugo agreed with Veneto's view. "After all, our relationship with the Order of the Phoenix is one of cooperation, and this is indeed not something we should interfere with."
"This house looks a bit dilapidated on the outside, but the magical defense system inside is still running normally, so it has bred a lot of magic-related contamination."
Sirius began to describe the situation of the house when he saw Hugo taking out several bottles containing powders and liquids from his suitcase and starting to mix them.
"Yesterday, we only did a simple cleaning of the dust and incidentally destroyed a piece of clothing that would strangle anyone who got close, but we couldn't do anything else."
"This is mainly because my parents and grandparents set up too many spells in the house back then. So now, many spells can't be used in the house; we can only clean it little by little by hand."
"Yes, you're right, the magical interference in this room is indeed very strong," Hugo said while preparing various magical potions.
"However, the defense of the entire house is mainly directed outwards; there is not much concealment inside the house. So, if I can invade and mobilize the power in the house, then I can clean this house."
Soon, Hugo mixed malachite powder and a special kind of pine pollen with a potion in a brown bottle, and then used an emerald-colored potion to turn the pasty mixture into a liquid.
After everything was ready, Hugo took out a large hollow rune pen made of lunar silver and drew rune symbols one after another on the wall, enveloping the entire room in these symbols.
"Is this Runes?" Sirius looked carefully at the runes Hugo drew on the wall. He recognized that the symbols were runes, but he didn't recognize any of the content drawn on them.
This surprised Sirius, because he was a member of an ancient pure-blood family and had learned a lot of knowledge that could not be learned outside, including ancient runes.
But now, he could confirm that he had never encountered the arrangement and combination of those runes on the wall, not even seen them before, so naturally, he couldn't tell what these runes were for.
"These are ancient runes, the foundation of rune magic from the Norse mythology era," Hermione, who was preparing potions on the side, explained. She had recently been learning this from Odin, but it would take some time to fully understand it.
"It's just that because it is cumbersome to use and has too high requirements for the user's own qualities, only a few people know this now."
"But then again, this magic is indeed very powerful. At least, one of the most important reasons why the group of Vikings in the Viking era could defeat the many with the few and plunder half of Europe was that this rune magic had advantages over ordinary magic."
"Yes, but the talent required to learn it is far higher than ordinary magic," Fred said at this time. "Hugo once taught George and me, but the things we learned were completely different."
"That's right, it was simply a nightmare," George nodded in agreement. "Not only was the learning progress very slow, but even if we learned it, the effect after using it was worse than our ordinary spellcasting."
