#156 - Street Team
After saying that, Yang Le unscrewed the cap of the feeding port on the plastic bag.
Logically speaking, life energy shouldn't have any odor, at least not one that normal humans can smell.
However, as soon as the cap was unscrewed, Qiu Yi's eyes sharpened, and she stared intently at the plastic bag in Yang Le's hand.
As Yang Le's hand moved up, her gaze followed; as Yang Le's hand moved down, her gaze also descended, just like an ordinary cat.
Seeing this, Yang Le knew he had her hooked, so he stopped teasing her and said, "How about it? Do you agree? If you agree, please meow."
"Meow!"
Qiu Yi immediately responded to Yang Le, her meaning self-evident.
Yang Le grinned, tossed the bag towards Qiu Yi, who opened her small mouth, and several tentacles, each as thick as a person, emerged from within, coiling the plastic bag into her mouth.
It happened so fast, almost in the blink of an eye, everything returned to normal. Qiu Yi squinted her eyes in satisfaction, a purring sound coming from her throat, clearly very pleased with the food.
"Alright, don't move, I'm going to start scanning."
After Yang Le finished speaking, he activated the Omnitrix on his hand, and a white light curtain scanned Qiu Yi from head to toe.
Seeing the prompt that the Omnitrix had successfully collected the data, Yang Le nodded in satisfaction, signaling to the others that he was done and they could continue on their way.
"What did you feed Qiu Yi just now?" Valeria moved closer to Yang Le, Franklin following beside her, apparently curious as well.
"I've never seen Qiu Yi like that before; she was drooling with desire."
"Life energy supplement," Yang Le explained.
"It's a very pure form of energy that I extracted. A gluttonous species like the Flerken can't refuse it."
"Looks like you came prepared," Valeria joked.
"I'm always well-prepared, Miss Know-It-All," Yang Le replied with a smile, after all, carrying an entire universe of species, he was bound to be well-prepared.
The group chatted casually as they walked for several hours, finally arriving at their destination.
"We're here," the Craftsman carefully pulled back some bushes, revealing the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters ahead.
The Craftsman's eyes were filled with complex emotions. He never expected that one mission would take him away from his home for so many years. After these years of running for his life, he couldn't help but feel a sense of melancholy upon returning.
"Where's Nana?" Valeria asked Franklin.
"Didn't you say she was waiting for us here?"
"I'd prefer it if you used 'she' to refer to Nana," Franklin suggested, then checked the communicator in his hand, which not only allowed him to contact Nana but also displayed her location.
The siblings' conversation caught Yang Le's attention, and he asked, "I've been wanting to ask, who is Nana?"
Yang Le didn't remember Marvel having a character named Nana who was so controversial. Could it be that after he transmigrated, those editors really created a character whose gender was an attack helicopter?
"A Sentinel robot," Valeria gave him the answer.
"My brother found it, gave it a female AI, and transformed it into our personal nanny, even fantasizing about making it family."
"It's not a fantasy!" Franklin roared softly. "She already is."
"Whatever," Valeria waved dismissively. "Anyway, I won't treat a killing machine as family."
Franklin's face flushed red, and he was about to retort, but the Craftsman tugged at him, stopping him.
"Alright, say less," the Craftsman winked at Valeria.
"Especially you, Valeria. If it weren't for Nana, we would have died several times."
Someone smoothed things over, and the argument clearly wouldn't continue. The siblings both turned their heads away, ignoring each other.
But no one felt nervous about it; they would be back to normal soon, just waiting for someone to speak first. Sometimes it was Franklin, sometimes Valeria. The first few times the twins argued, they were a little nervous, but now they were used to it.
"Alright, Franklin, you haven't answered my question yet. Where is Nana now?" The Craftsman put his hand on Franklin's shoulder, deliberately using the feminine pronoun 'she' to refer to Nana in order to make the latter happy.
The Craftsman's tactic worked. Even though Franklin was in a bad mood, he still answered the Craftsman's question.
"She's hiding in the nearby woods. After all, her size is too big, which could easily alert those zombies."
"Okay, tell her to stand by. Once we sneak in, she can come over."
The Craftsman thought for a moment and gave the order.
The one with the most team combat experience here was him. After all, he used to belong to the X-Men, and teamwork could be said to be a part of his life.
Among this group of lone wolves and children, he was the only one who could take on this important task. So, although Peter was the leader, the Craftsman issued almost all the orders.
After all, Peter's headaches had been troubling him, and in this situation, Peter still had to take care of two children, so he really didn't have the extra energy.
"Then, I'll be the vanguard," Yang Le pointed at himself, volunteering to take on the most dangerous job.
"That's exactly what I was hoping for," the Craftsman nodded, his eyes full of gratitude.
"I won't say any nice words, but I'm really grateful to you. Without you, we might still be struggling in the wilderness, or even die. I really don't know how to repay you."
"You know what, I actually do need your help with something," Yang Le tightened his grip on the Biomitrix.
That's right, the thing Yang Le wanted the Craftsman to help with was completing the Biomitrix. This wasn't because the Craftsman was smarter than any of the aliens Yang Le had, after all, he wasn't even ranked in the top intelligence rankings in the Marvel universe.
The main reason Yang Le was asking for his help was because of his ability, his unreasonable understanding of various machines, like the Orks, which could be said to be the 'I reckon' power in Marvel.
"If there's anything I can help with, I definitely will," the Craftsman agreed with a smile, without even asking what it was.
"I'll help too," Valeria suddenly said, her youthful and beautiful face filled with care.
"The things you ask Uncle Craftsman for are nothing more than mechanical inventions and research. I can definitely help with that."
"No problem, more people, more strength," Yang Le readily accepted. With Valeria's help, whose intelligence in the settings exceeded Doctor Doom, the research would surely be twice as effective with half the effort.
Moreover, Valeria wasn't as much of a jerk as her old man, so she was a reliable partner.
In fact, Yang Le had carefully considered that if the plan failed and he had to destroy this universe, then he would take Peter and the others away, gather them together, and form a small team.
A parallel universe street thug team, just thinking about it is cool.
