#252 - Secret War
Yang Le lightly twirled his fingers, as if sensing some kind of change at his fingertips.
"Someone has been tampering with time?" Yang Le frowned. "But when was it? And why?"
Perhaps because he doesn't often transform into Clockwork, Yang Le is only now discovering this change. But this isn't entirely his fault. Although the Omnitrix can transform its wearer into other species, the wearer's mind remains the same.
For example, even though Yang Le has now transformed into Clockwork, and his personality is slightly affected, his thought patterns are still those of an Earthling. He subconsciously overlooks some alien physiologies or characteristics, or simply acts with a human mindset.
Like Ben Tennyson, even the strongest mage would be turned into a close-combat brawler by him, perfectly illustrating what it means to say, 'Wouldn't it have been better to use the red form from the start?' Don't misunderstand, I'm talking about Four Arms.
And the most classic example is Diamondhead. Ben Tennyson doesn't even know he can fly. And according to Chromastone, Diamondhead has a bunch of abilities that Ben doesn't know about.
Yang Le is pretty much in that state right now. Including this time, Yang Le has transformed into Clockwork three times. Let's not talk about the first time. The second time, Yang Le's attention was focused on the enemy during the battle, so he didn't notice. And the third time was similar to the first, both times investigating matters. The environment was relatively peaceful, which is probably why Yang Le was able to discover these changes.
"Tampering with time?" Miles widened his eyes. "Wow, that's a big deal."
"A big deal? Indeed." Miles' words reminded Yang Le that Marvel's big events often involve tampering with time.
Although the scope has been narrowed, there are still many choices. It can be said that every big event involves it. Whether it's the good guys or the bad guys, when in doubt, they always time travel first, it's never wrong.
For example, when encountering powerful enemies that can't be defeated, both the good guys and the bad guys often choose to travel back to the past to deal with the opponent before they grow up, solving the problem at its root, saving time and effort. Why not?
Like the X-Men, who often have this kind of plot. 'Days of Future Past' and the classic 'X-Men '92' both have this kind of plot.
'Hmm?' Yang Le suddenly frowned. X-Men? 'Days of Future Past'? Yang Le felt like he had discovered the key to the matter.
But if things are really as Yang Le thinks, then all the combat power he possesses now won't be enough. According to Yang Le's estimation, only X-Ceptor can stop this crisis.
"That's right, only X-Ceptor can stop this crisis," Gwenpool chimed in from the side.
"What?" The other Spiders immediately focused their attention on Gwenpool, especially Miles, who almost jumped up like he did in the subway tunnel. Although he suppressed this embarrassing act, Miles still subconsciously leaned towards Ultimate Peter.
"Who are you?" Gwen noticed the similarities between Gwenpool and herself, and asked with a frown.
"Hello!" Gwenpool saluted. "My name is Gwen Poole, you can think of me as a parallel universe version of you, and also..."
Gwenpool pounced on Clockwork, the cold metallic touch sending a shiver down her spine, but she still insisted on hugging him and said, "And also, I'm Hubie's number one fan."
Gwen looked at Yang Le. Even with the mask on, those around her could feel that her expression wasn't too good, but she wasn't someone who would make trouble unreasonably, so Gwen decided to ask first.
Gwen looked at Yang Le and asked, "What exactly is going on here?"
"Simply put, this Gwen knows a lot about all of us because of special reasons," Yang Le grabbed Gwenpool, who was clinging to him, and held her up. "Not just me, she knows everyone here very well."
"That's right, meow!" Gwenpool responded to Yang Le's words with a meme, but other than Yang Le, everyone else just thought she was being cute.
"Alright, Gwenpool," Yang Le shook Gwenpool in his hand a few times, stopping her from showing off. "What do you mean by saying that only X-Ceptor can solve this crisis?"
"It's just the literal meaning," Gwenpool let her limbs hang limply, as if amusing herself with something. "Actually, you've already guessed it. Just like you thought, the upcoming big event is... Secret Wars!"
In order to strengthen the power of her words, Gwenpool even took out the dialogue box generated by her speech just now. The font on it was specially designed with artistic fonts, and the colors were very rich.
It was clearly a crisis that affected the entire Marvel Universe, but Gwenpool said it without any sense of crisis, as if it were an ordinary soccer game that didn't involve refunds.
But that's also true. Gwenpool doesn't need to worry about this crisis. When the crisis occurs, she can directly return to the real world and will not be affected. This is also one of the reasons why Gwenpool has a playful attitude. No matter what the crisis is, I can just hide and wait until everything settles down before I come back.
"What the heck is Secret Wars?" Spider-Man Noir adjusted his hat. "Looking at you, Hubie, this lively little girl shouldn't be lying, right?"
Indeed, just like Spider-Man Noir said, Yang Le's expression in Clockwork form had become "(*_*)", which clearly indicated he was troubled.
"Simply put, it's a group of gods who want to do an experiment, which requires destroying all parallel universes," Gwenpool answered Spider-Man Noir's question before Yang Le could.
"But those gods look very high-class, but they are actually just a bunch of clowns and are not to be feared at all," Gwenpool waved her hand, indicating that they were just a bunch of chickens and dogs.
Although Gwenpool said it easily, Yang Le couldn't agree with her idea. Indeed, the Beyonders in the early stages of Secret Wars became a bunch of jumping clowns after the patch.
But relying on the gold coins dropped by the Old Man in the Void, the current strength of the Beyonders is solid. Although they still can't compete with the abstract entities, they have indeed reached the top ten, or even the top five, in the entire Marvel Universe.
Of course, not all Beyonders are so strong. Inheritance also involves distribution. The most difficult Beyonder to deal with is the Ivory King. Beyonders of this level can send Celestials back to the Rebirth Chamber.
Beyonders like the Ivory Kings/Viruses, which are one level lower, are not so outrageous. As for the Mapmakers, they are even smaller fry. Most of Marvel's heroes can deal with them and are not even within Yang Le's consideration.
But killing these cannon fodder is useless. If you can't get past the Ivory King, this big event that is all thunder and little rain still can't be solved.
Yang Le tapped his head in headache. It has to be admitted that the rich third generation like the Beyonders, who were born well and relied on the old man's gold coins to rise to the top, are still very difficult to deal with at this stage.
