#253 - The Problem with Superman X
During Yang Le's brainstorming session, all the spiders reacted to Gwenpool's words. Although everyone present was a battle-hardened superhero, they had to admit that what Gwenpool said was truly shocking.
"Can you tell us more about this?" Gwen asked, looking at Gwenpool. She had seen her fellow Spider-Woman at the Spider-Camp, so she didn't feel too strange facing a Gwenpool who was similar to herself.
"Enmmm," Gwenpool pondered for a moment, then finally nodded. "Since you're Happy's CP, and since you're asking so earnestly, I'll be merciful and tell you."
"In a parallel universe, there's an organization called the X-Men, and within it, there's a man named Wolverine. To resolve a crisis that could destroy all of humanity, he repeatedly traveled through time, trying to prevent it from happening at the source.
However, because he excessively tampered with the timeline, the time in all parallel universes became fragile. The lifespan of the multiverse was shortened, and all parallel universes were heading towards destruction. This premature destruction caused adjacent universes to collide during their destruction.
To prevent his own universe from being destroyed, he could only destroy the Earth of another universe, which would save both universes from destruction. This is the superficial reason for the Secret Wars."
"Um, what's the direct relationship between destroying Earth and saving two universes?" Ultimate Peter asked. He understood everything before, but this one point he couldn't figure out.
"That's because the axis point of each universe happens to be Earth, so the colliding universes will collapse with Earth as the center," Gwenpool said, then spat disdainfully. "I have to say, this setting really caters to Earthlings' self-esteem and arrogance."
"But that's just the superficial reason. The real reason is the experiment by the Beyonders I mentioned earlier. Destroying another Earth can't save both universes; they'll still eventually be destroyed," Gwenpool shrugged and muttered.
"I have to say, the sense of powerlessness in the early and mid-stages is well-crafted, but those cosmic entities died a bit too hastily, and the ending was a bit of a mess. Plus, the patches added later, I'd call it the biggest event that promised much but delivered little."
Everyone else was lost in thought due to Gwenpool's explanation, and no one noticed her whispers.
"An experiment... that requires the lives of all parallel universes as a sacrifice?" Gwen's voice was cold. "What kind of gods are these?"
"I still can't imagine it," 616B Peter clenched his fists.
"Believe it or not, it's up to you," Gwenpool waved her hand, looking indifferent. "Anyway, this isn't something you can participate in. Instead of complaining, you might as well pray for a big shot to appear and solve the problem."
This was the truth. A major event like Secret Wars was indeed not something a "street-level hero" like Spider-Man could participate in. Whether it was the early crisis of two Earths (lol), the mid-stage search for the mastermind, or the final resolution of the Beyonders, even the top-tier main universe Thor and Hyperion couldn't get past Ivory King/Rabum Alal, let alone Spider-Man.
"Wait, did you just say Happy has the ability to solve this?" Peni widened her eyes. If the opponent was really as strong as Gwenpool said, how could Yang Le solve this?
"This brings us to the invincible X-Superman," Gwenpool pointed both hands at Yang Le. "The Beyonders are strong, right? They're not worth mentioning in front of X-Superman. Taking the destruction of all multiverses as an example, X-Superman only needs a thought to complete it."
(The rumor that X-Superman needs to think six times to destroy the multiverse is a false rumor. There's no such setting. This rumor probably originated from an incorrect translation of an X-Superman wiki. You don't need to delve into the original text, because this entry has already been officially deleted.)
"Really?" Miles widened his eyes and looked at Yang Le, asking about the truth of the matter.
"That's true," Yang Le nodded in承认.
"Wow! Then what are we worried about here?" Miles threw all his previous troubles to the back of his mind. "With such a powerful teammate, what are we worried about?"
"Don't be happy too soon, Miles," Ultimate Peter patted Miles' head, telling him not to get carried away. "Didn't you see Happy's expression?"
Only then did Miles realize that Yang Le's expression had been like this (*_*), which was clearly not a confident expression.
"It seems that that form must have some usage conditions," Spider-Noir said.
"That's right," Yang Le sighed. "X-Superman is powerful, but his usage conditions are also very harsh. If nothing unexpected happens, even if all universes disappear, I may not be able to use his power."
"How can that be?" Miles covered his head with his hands, and the hope he had just gained vanished in an instant.
Yang Le also felt a headache. He had contacted his counterpart in the movie universe before, asking how the counterpart he left there to communicate with the two consciousnesses of X-Superman was doing.
The answer he received was not optimistic. That counterpart, like Albedo, was trapped inside and couldn't get out. No matter what happened outside, he didn't react at all, because no matter what happened, it couldn't harm X-Superman.
This also led to the fact that, apart from the counterpart who had become X-Superman, no one else knew what was happening inside X-Superman, so the progress bar could only be regarded as 0.
Fortunately, although the people outside didn't know what was happening, the people inside X-Superman knew what was happening outside, so when it really came to a desperate situation, there was still a chance to turn the tables.
You need to know that, in order to welcome the third consciousness, X-Superman would give a chance to use his ability unconditionally, and Yang Le hadn't used this chance yet.
But this was just one chance and couldn't perfectly solve this incident, so the best way was to find a way to persuade the other two consciousnesses. This was the most stable way.
Just as Yang Le was thinking about how to persuade X-Superman, a loud noise interrupted his thoughts. Not only Yang Le, but everyone present heard the loud noise and turned their attention to the direction from which the sound came.
"That's downtown!" Ultimate Peter shouted. Thick black smoke was rising from that direction, indicating that something big was happening.
"Alright everyone, let's worry about the future later, and let's take care of the present first," Gwen said, shooting out a web and swinging towards the scene.
